F-16 Students skip Phase III
I don't see how the powers that be think this is achievable. Not to sound arrogant, but I would've probably been chosen as one of the test cases because I showed up to UPT as a CFII. I did okay in UPT, but I didn't get adequate at tac form until IFF and to the point where just flying didn't require a serious amount of brain bytes until after that. I did well in the instrument phase and the contact stuff, but the tactical flying required me to develop those skills just like everyone else. If the plan is to have a fully qualified F-35 wingman in 365 days, that's an extremely lofty goal for mass production.

That is an incredible story and really makes me proud to be an American. Hopefully the film is well done.

Passive aggressive and blown out of proportion. Nice touch.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
You must be way busier than me if making a certificate is a significant detractor from your ability to perform your primary duty and make the fighting force more efficient and effective.

11-217: should it stay or go?
I don't think it needs to go away. I've been a CFII prior to the USAF and also done AIS as an AF IP so I've been pretty involved in instrument flying for both sides. I think the 217 is well constructed in that it fits with other AF Pubs and is organized pretty well. The AIM is organized well, but it's format is different than AF style pubs so finding stuff is not as intuitive for our conditioned AF brains. Honestly, if we started with the AIM, I would prefer it. But most of the information in 11-217 is taken from the AIM anyway so that part wouldn't be difficult. To me, it's the formatting differences.

Texas Church Shooting
You guys are applying the same logic that you bitch about constantly with sweeping punishments for individual transgressions. You think the CSAF and SAF should be fired because some OSI person in New Mexico messed up? What possible good does that do? It's awful what happened and the fact that an administrative issue enabled it is heartbreaking. Punish the right people, fix the process, and ensure that there's corrective action moving forward.

Leadership at the 'Deid
If you think the CAF is immune to using patches in non-patch type jobs, you're nuts.

Leadership at the 'Deid
From what I've seen, they come up with the tanker plan for the package, who gets what and when, who gets what when a tanker falls out, how to keep everything on timeline and prevent gaps in coverage due to fuel issues, and integrating with the weather shop to find clouds IOT place the tracks.

CSAR to AFSOC? What do the customers think?
Watch "The Big Lebowski" while you're stranded waiting for a rotator for explination of wording. You should be able to watch it approximately 200 times.

CSAR to AFSOC? What do the customers think?
Dude, joint partners is not the prefered nomenclature...Isolated personnel, please. As an AFSOC guy (not a CV-22 guy), I think it'd be a good move. Mainly due to the fact that AFSOC seems a lot more flexible with the rules and empowering the decision authority down lower. I've heard stories from CSAR bros about not getting launch authority from higher for a very long time and having to navigate very onerous processes to get there. I have total faith in the crews operating all parts of the CSAR triad, I just have a limited faith in the processes in place to get people moving to pick me up. That could be a lack of my own understanding, but that's my $0.02.

Do you mean that kind of rubberized patch thing versus the traditional cloth?

Professional pilot kill recreation?
If it fucks, flies, or floats it's cheaper to rent. Thats the main reason GA is hard to get involved with for me.

NFL Ratings are Way Down
My issue with this entire thing is that CK isn't getting a job because he seemed to be on the way out athletically. Lynch and Bennett are still studs, therefore their actions are acceptable due to their productivity. Every year 32 teams keep 2 or 3 QB's on their active roster and maybe 1 on the practice squad. For arguments sake, let's call that 100 QB's. CK isn't going to take up a practice squad spot so there's 20 less spots. 10 were drafted this year and probably double were signed as undrafted free agents. Unlike linemen, there's no benefit to having a lot of depth at QB when you only have 53 spots. Therefore, QB is extremely limited in availability. Additionally, the backup QB is most often a "don't lose the game via turnovers" guy or the next big thing waiting in the wings. CK is neither one of those things. It's for those reasons that I don't think he'd have a job even if he didn't do the protest. The NFL is a ruthless business and a ton of people get sent packing every year. Here's something you probably didn't expect: I admire the guy for speaking up about something he believes in and an issue that obviously needs attention. I don't think this act deserves prominence in a museum celebrating African American culture quite yet, but I'm not making those decisions.
