  2. Which I also find funny given the high G, highly maneuverable profiles of the B-2.

  4. Does anybody know how to self-induce a coma for exactly a week and a half? I don’t want to feel anymore.

  5. Left USAA last month. Checking/Savings moved to AMEX - getting 4.6% in a high yeild savings account and 1% interest on checking + 1 reward point/ $2 spent. Insurance bundled housing, cars, motorcycle with Geico (Less than half the cost of what USAA was charging) Investments are with Fidelity and always have been (I used to work for them and they are great) I couldnt be happier - I recommend everyone to get quotes and do some research. USAA is screwing you.

  7. This is incorrect. "There is no justice" and "life isn't fair" are the same thing. Timing is everything It's better to be lucky than good There is no justice. The real core values of the air force and life in general.

  8. He meant his buddy was at the 'fuge and needed to complete the viper profile since that's what he got out of enjjpt. Not all assignable airframes have the same centrifuge profile requirement. Yes, A-10s are going away. A portion of Re-cats will naturally flow to 35s, but you'd be surprised the amount of people who don't want anything to do with 5gen potato (will digress on expanding on that for brevity). I know several here who do not want fat amy as a re-cat, but they were getting out anyways so the drawdown is merely a convenient segway.

  9. Chairfly, but not the whole sortie. Break it down into individual movements or procedures. Think of it like drills in sports, or reps in the gym: 3 x cloverleaf 2 x HILO entry to an ILS 4 x vis pattern 2 x ground ops Breaks are key. No way we’d spend 12 solid hours studying. At check ride time, chairfly those beginning to end. Double check on actual check ride day, but having a good idea what the frequencies, altitudes, or headings are will help. Unrelated to studying but I had a set of pilot wings above my door that I’d see for motivation.

  12. good i'm glad. no one is burying their head in the sand. you're confusing a dissenting opinion with ignorance. https://news.yahoo.com/nato-warns-war-russia-next-215119896.html "On Thursday, David Cameron warned against 1930s-style appeasement of Vladimir Putin and promised Britain would keep supporting Ukraine in the “struggle of our generation”. The Foreign Secretary urged Britain’s allies not to push for peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow, arguing that unifying behind Ukraine was the best way to end the war." this is dangerous and will only lead to escalation. ukraine cannot defeat russia. we need to be encouraging peace talks NOT stonewalling them. what's the alternative? escalation. that's not in the best interest of the united states.

  13. Correct, I am 💯 belittling dudes who hide in AETC while simultaneously burying their head in the sand WRT current ops and playing apologist for everything America does. It’s possible to be an instructor and stay relevant. That’s what I, and so many bros at my unit, have done. I’m also accruing airline seniority while I do it. I’m happy AF, thanks, mostly because I’m not a one-trick pony. ETA: Pride in the success of our allies does not equal blood thirst. You live in a world of false dichotomies where the truth must boil down to a bumper sticker slogan. Improve your critical thinking and communication skills if you want to have meaningful adult conversations.

  14. If a stud drops B-2s they go to T-38 PIT to be a CTP IP for seasoning, so they need to know how to fly a T-38.

  15. Both sides continue to pay a terrible price. The Russians have long been masters of propaganda, but they have not embraced social media at the same level as the Ukrainians. There are hundreds if not thousands of videos like the one below showing the lethal effects of small drones and air dropped munitions. I hope the lads and lasses in the five sided building have been paying attention.

  16. Confused about that advanced G comment. 15s also regularly pull up to 9 Gs, and I assumed 22s did too Edit: but yes, if you look at future plans for the air force, it doesn't include A-10s. You might still drop them but I doubt get a full career in them

  18. Context matters, brah. That was in response to Bashi’s claim that we haven’t seen a military W since WW2. OD was a military win, an UN-sanctioned one at that, even if that shitshow country remains a shitshow. Thankfully no one tried to nation-build there, considering how well it was going in Iraq and Afghanistan.

  19. It is a new normal. Per HAF in coord with AFGSC, B-1s and B-2s are FBF/T-38 drops. B-52s are AMF-F/AMF-S drops. J-85s can’t support Buff drops and fighter production is prioritized and the B-52 isn’t a fast jet and doesn’t make A model IPs straight out of UPT. cue the wailing of B-52s being even more a red headed stepchild.

  20. I understand what you’re saying, but you aren’t some bastion of geopolitical wisdom. You thought Libya was a US win and there was an active nuclear program (there wasn’t). It is a failed state and a breeding ground for terrorism.

  22. After 22 years, just canceled my insurance with USAA. State Farm, with a $0 deductible and glass coverage, renters, and umbrella was $800 less every six months than what USAA wanted just for auto and a $250 deductible.

  23. I got a buddy who just finished ENJJPT with F-16s and said while he was doing his advanced G training to 9gs (only for 16s and 35s) he ran into a few people who were being reclassed out of A-10 to F-35 due to a draw down. But it would make sense to keep the pipeline alive just to have a good distribution of experience through the platform.

  24. Compare that to recent videos of Ukrainian combat footage using platoon and company sized Armored elements in effective combined arms maneuver because we’ve been training them. The Uke’s didn’t start the war capable of that across much of their formations. Mostly individual armored vehicles as supporting assault guns or ambush. Maybe you’d see a platoon but their movement was uncoordinated and sequencing was staggered so like a series of individual punches and not the synchronized sledgehammer that Armor and combined mech infantry functions as when used effectively. They are growing as a force, and use of western Tanks and IFVs is allowing survivability and carrying lessons to the next fight of the trained soldiers. That’s not something the Russians are getting. They are still Fires centric where we model off maneuver and I doubt that will ever change for them either culturally or looking at economy of force. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  25. I have a set of sweetheart grips on my Springfield G.I. M1911A1 with Carole Landis on them. When I bought them, I was looking for a picture of a "girl next door" type from the 1940s, and thought she fit the bill! She was an angel who left this earth far too soon!

  26. Purchased a M1911A1 45 ACP clone by TISAS. Forged upper and lower, great deal for under $500. Also snagged an original 1911 holster manufactured between 1917 and 1919. Here is a comparison of it next to an actual GI issue purchased from the CMP.

  29. I don't have a problem with a bunch of my deserving contemporaries not getting sent to fighters when the war needed pilots to fly other stuff. I think institutionally we need to get away from the MWS tribes and gate keeping and realize that what you get out of UPT shouldn't define/exclude your career the entire time. If you want to see some funny stuff, look at some of the UPT grads scores that went non-fighters from the 07-09 year group and then compare it to a guy in the mid-teens that did. You'd rather take a guy who's sole talent is fogging a mirror into a Viper than a thousand combat hour U-28 kid that had the misfortune of bad timing? I know it's more complicated than that but that's always bugged me.

  30. Years ago I had them for my primary and one of my rentals in Florida. They sent notice that they were cancelling my rental coverage in six months. Two funny events followed: 1. I immediately found another company for the rental, at a lower rate. I called USAA to cancel early and they pushed back. They also insisted I provide a copy of the new coverage AND the rate I was paying. The house was paid off and they had ZERO right to know that data so a nice argument ensued on the phone with a very pushy agent. I got nasty, told them to fuck off and cancel my coverage. 2. After the event above I wrote a note saying I was going to move all of my investments out of USAA. I actually got a call about a week later from a VP on the investment side telling me there was nothing they could do about it. I told him I appreciate the call and FYI I will move everything out of USAA next month to which he actually chuckled and replied "we hope you won't do that." The next week I moved a very substantial portfolio from USAA to Morgan Stanley. A few days later that same VP called me and was incredulous, "you moved everything out of USAA, why would you do that?" I then chuckled and said " I told you in my note I was going to do it, I told you on the phone I was going to do it and you are shocked I did it, seriously?" He tried to give me a list of reasons to come back and I hung up on him.

  31. What’s not bizarre is that many of us on this very forum have directly contributed to the effort of assisting this country that has been invaded by our (the West’s) second most powerful nemesis. For those of us that have, it’s not “bizarre” to take some pride in seeing our Allies succeed. Just because you’ve been hiding behind the flaming dildo shield of AETC (where your only “enemy” is some mythical timeline) doesn’t mean we’ve all been hiding there.
