  1. Truth. I gave an I-ride to a crew chief, briefed him exactly what we were going to do and he was gung ho and normal as shit for the whole experience........ Riiiiiiiiiight up to about 5 seconds after brake release. Full AB and off the ground shortly after that, 5-bills at the end of the runway and into the vertical. He's hyperventilating for the acceleration which didn't seem that abnormal. At the start of the pull up he starts "ohhhhhhhhh" and then as we're vertical he says, "Sir, I want to go back." I level off at 10K and offered to just be an airliner and we could do some sight seeing and take it easy. He just kept repeating that he wanted to go back in a scary, panicked way. I started to get pretty concerned he was going to do something crazy, so I told him to put his hands under his thighs, don't touch anything and I'll have us back on the ground in 5 minutes. Should have done a straight-in but I wanted to get down fast. He almost lost it when it put some G on the aircraft in the pitch out. I figured out he no likey the Gs. Not an experience I'd care to repeat. Absolutely no fun having a panicked human trapped in your back seat with access to some fairly "reactive" handles and actuators. 0.1 KPAM-KPAM 🙃

  4. I got it wrong, the pastor and Hegseth BOTH said women not serve in combat roles. It is actually Hegseth who in his book questioned if women should serve at all. On women in service, Hegseth wrote in his book that “women cannot physically meet the same standards as men” and that “Dads push us to take risks. Moms put the training wheels on our bikes. We need moms. But not in the military, especially in combat units.” With regard to the pastor, he also said women should not be able to vote. Have you watched the actual video Hegseth posted? Go to 3:26, the executive pastor in that video calls for the 19th amendment to be repealed. Pentagon chief spokesman Sean Parnell told The Associated Press on Friday that Hegseth is “a proud member of a church” that is affiliated with CREC and he “very much appreciates many of Mr. Wilson’s writings and teachings.” All better now, you guys are right, he sounds like a great guy to endorse, and bring to the Pentagon to lead prayers. Absolutely nothing wrong with SECDEF posting videos that call for the 19th amendment to be repealed.

  6. Completely unsat. The Signal crap should have been enough but this is WAY over the line. And before my fellow GOPers get your panties in a wad, we wanted Swalwell to resign after falling into the Fang Fang honey trap. And, recall the statements the right made when Obama associated with Reverend Wright and all of his nonsense. If we say everyone should be held to the same standard, lets do it. Hegseth should resign.

  11. so only people that are employed get to vote? retired people? full-time students? disabled? what if you are laid off a month before elections?

  12. This is why I don't think it's more nuanced. Has he broken the law in relation to women in the military, no? Does he hold an opinion contrary to common Western values, yes. Your Mormon example is apples to oranges. I'm talking about a leader that holds beliefs contrary to common western values. In your example an individual wouldn't do the job, easy kill. I'm talking about a commander with a specific set of values that doesn't align with common Western beliefs.

  14. The great thing about our country, we all get to disagree and still be friends. Also, we all get a voice....well unless as you believe you are poor and don't pay taxes. As far as women versus men in combat roles...two of the three best IPs I ever flew with were women and could fly circles around a lot of men. I prefer to have a standard rather than a gender test.

  16. Can’t find anything that supports that claim. He is opposed to combat roles and other certain areas (e.g. no women on subs). I watched the interview and searched around (but if I missed it in my googling, let me know).

  17. Gender differences ≠ Racial differences. So let's just skip that diversion. We already discriminate based on gender in the military. And we should. The extent to which we do so is a valid debate. Also, reposting something does not equal endorsing every word of an interview. As I said, I wish our leaders wouldn't post/repost/share anything, but they do. If Hegseth says he believes women should not serve, then you have a point. Hell, if he refuses to answer, even then you have a point. Right now you do not. Call it lunacy all you want. We will *never* have a functional government by this standard. I think it's lunacy to believe that gay people will go to hell. I also think it's lunacy to believe that gay parents are a drop-in substitute for straight parents. Every belief is absurd to someone. But he did not voice an opinion about women serving or not serving. *You* think it's wrong. Which is worse? Saying women shouldn't serve, or promoting seizing the means of production? What about hate speech laws? Affirmative action? How many people would die if we "turn the clock back 77 years" and ban women from military service versus legalizing all drugs? Is a discriminatory belief less acceptable than a fatal belief? It's just hypothetical, since PetSouth has never said that women should be banned from serving. Overturning RvW was the constitutional answer. Period. So now that's a step on the slippery slope? Also, could you elaborate on the gay marriage to Jews continuum? Not going to lie, watching you lump disparate issues together like this is making you sound more like Sotomayor then Alito. If we shouldn't have a Secretary of defense that would roll back women serving in the military, do you also suggest that we shouldn't have supreme Court justices that would (did) roll back Roe v Wade? Do we appoint a new Arbiter of Acceptable Opinions, or do we just rely on the first amendment and let the voters to decide? I already told you I agreed with you on Signal (that it is a fire-able offense, not that he *should* be fired), but we are talking specifically about this Twitter post. I won't make so broad a statement, but again, if Pete Hegseth actually advocates for banning women from the military, then I will agree that he is the wrong person to run the DoD. But he hasn't done that, regardless of how much I disagree with him retweeting a ridiculous interview.

  20. You might listen then pass judgement, the dude Hegseth is not just supporting but REPOSTING, openly professes women should be barred from service...not just combat service, but military service. Would you think differently if the Secretary of the treasury was posting content that said black people should not get government backed loans? When a senate confirmed cabinet secretary start posting content suggesting we discriminate based on race, gender or ideology then it is not a matter of me disagreeing with a belief. Concur, but that isn't happening and until it does, voicing opinions like that while sitting in office, particularly an office that has the power to impose discriminating policies is lunacy. I don't think they are all crazy, but most of them are. I don't expect them to all have the "right" answer. We are a country founded on a vision of long debate and I support that debate in the right context. That being said, it is wrong for the sitting SECDEF to try and turn the clock back 77 years and discriminate against women because of his religious beliefs. I don't think they are either, but this is a very slippery slope the GOP is on. The overturned Roe v Wade, the gay rights/ gay marriage case is back before SCOTUS and you know the homophobic far-right is salivating to end gay marriage. What is next? The Jews? Apples to oranges...RFK and Johnson are loons, but what they said/did was not illegal. Hegseth's actions were clearly illegal. What would have happened to any one of us lowly people had we put classified info on Signal? I'd rather settle on accountability culture. Break the law, be punished like everyone else. Advocate for bias or discrimination while in an office of power...resign.

  22. This is very easy for me to say from Retiredville but it may take several whistleblowers (IPs and recent grads) who contact media, sympathetic congressional leaders for top cover and inform the public, civilian leadership that what the GOs are selling is just bullshit. For whatever reason, the people who should be and should have been skeptical of all this nonsense have let them get away with it, like 60 Minutes and the F-22 guys telling their story, someone(s) is going to have to risk their career & give an unvarnished, plain language explanation of the problem. Public shaming of the AF at this point is probably the last thing that could be done. It could be what I listed above but also a public advertisement(s) in appropriate places (military news sites, aviation news, etc) comparing recent historical UPT/SUPT to the recent iterations and comparisons to what allies and enemies are doing. 23. I know incentive riders can do wacky things and I have no idea what happened in this case... but you're fucking up if you don't put the fear of god in them regarding the ejection handles and the seat in general. I don't care how much egress training they got, every incentive rider I ever flew with got another cockpit fam brief from me and I personally helped them strap in.

Little did we know at the time that the Guadalupe floods in Ingram and Hunt three months would put these same crews to the test, and they (and others) rose to the challenge! God bless each and every one of them!

  27. Yeah but here's the thing, no one gives a shit what you think it's time for. Or what I think it's time for. The simple reality is that people do not use social media that way. And the busier the person is, the more likely they are to repost something that they only watched or read 5% of. I don't have to like it, I just have to be intelligent enough to realize it. Or conversely, you can spend all day thinking that you're superior to everyone in power simply because no one deemed you worthy of the amount of attention or responsibility our leaders have. You of all people should be grateful that our internet lives are not the exclusive basis by which we are judged. I sure am.
