Squadron Bar
Off-topic discussion. Keep it civil, don't abuse this forum.
1 – Keep it civil
If you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Opinions are great, constructive criticism is encouraged, third grade retorts are right out. Threads that devolve into pissing contents will be locked. If your post starts to drag a thread in that direction, it will be removed. If you continue to instigate, you may face suspension of your posting abilities.
2 - Listen before you speak
A wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you ought to listen twice as much as you talk."
Fighter squadrons have a rule that you can’t speak until you’ve had been there a year, and there's some wisdom to this; don't just show up here spouting your wisdom to dudes who are not only veterans to this board, but veterans to the Air Force. Hang out a while, read the posts, and be a fly on the wall. You'll see who's legit and who is generally clueless. This will prevent you from a severe case in foot-in-mouth-itis when you try to tell a combat proven pilot that he knows nothing while you sit at home waiting to see if your UPT package has been approved.
3 – UTFSF
Before you ask a dumb question, make sure it hasn’t been asked and answered – use the search function at the top right of each page.
4 - If it's been talked about before, keep it in the same thread.
After you follow Rule 3 but don't find exactly what you're looking for, revive one of the old threads instead of starting a brand new one. In other words, if you're trying to find information on housing at Del Rio and you find lots of old posts with Del Rio info, but nothing specifically answers your question - post your question at the end of one of those threads. This makes it easier for future searches so that 690 threads don't pop up when they try to search for "Del Rio Housing"
5 - Give it a subject line that makes sense
This seems anal, but there are several reasons. (1) If you have a nebulous subject like "Serious question" you're potentially not going to get answers from as many people as if your subject line was "Where to find Jeremiah Weed?" (2) It makes it easier for serious searches; the poor sap who types "SERE" into the search function will have a much easier time with specific subjects like "What do I bring to SERE?" vice just "SERE".
6 – No unpaid advertisements
Unpaid advertisements and promotion of outside websites are not allowed. Individual items are allowed to be sold in the “Market Place” forum within in accordance with the rules of that forum. For questions on paid advertising on this board, use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of each page.

OK, saw this on another forum (yeah, I spend too much time on Al Gore's 'Net; but not all of it is looking at guns and porn!) and thought it would be fun to start here... Download this template and get to work. Some examples follow... Cheers! M2

https://patriotpost.us/posts/43033 The dumb-fu@kery in this situation is hard to comprehend. The manager said he was "offended by his passion for the flag"...really?! Since when did respecting the flag become offensive or a "political affiliation"? Another gut-punch to my faith in the future of this country... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just saw this: https://amp.usatoday.com/amp/542725002 Don't wish this on any one. But you could get quite an upgrade. Like shopping for a new car and get anyone you want. Good news for the vet.

Was crossing the pond a few months ago and had a Travis KC-10 dragging us. The boomer (or somebody else on board) may or may not have taken a few snap shots for us after we were done AAR'ing. Trying to see if anybody can help me find any info. I think it was a AFRC tanker and crew.

Not sure if this should go under WTF, or as a new topic (or if it should even be posted - Mods, feel free...) and I wasn't even drinking (heavily) when I decided to sign up, but: Let's get bald for kids with cancer! You heard it right - I'm shaving my head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment. When you're already ugly, bald can't be much of a step down, but it is for kids with cancer. Please join me in Raleigh, NC at the Hibernian Pub (I'll but the first pint) on 27 Feb at the 'shaving chair', or support me and the kids by making a donation at the link below. A shot up B-17 gets escorted by a German to the coast and they meet years later. The article was a good read, and I suspect the book would be too. https://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/wings_of_an_angel_m7W8NXNsFsgsqcf5YKPGzO/1

Other than the guy screaming like a cowboy from Brokeback Mountain at times...this is pretty sweet. Anyone ever seen the live in cockpit footage they do at the USAFA graduations?

If this is half as good as "Band of Brothers", it should be kick ass. https://www.pacificfans.com/trailer.mov I always kind of hoped they would do an aviation type mini-series based on "The Wild Blue" or something like that, but shedding some light on the campaign in the pacific will be cool.

Does anyone know if the military reimburses you for the cost of weight stations? The only place open this weekend on the approved list is $10.50 per weight. It's a little ridiculous.

Today SECDEF and CJCS gave an update brief on the attack on an Iran's nuclear facilities. A comment by the chairman was epic and deserves it's own thread. My wife and I are currently trying to build our house in FL... pretty much the most miserable experience ever. Looks like we might actually close this time but have a question on our storage. We moved here last week of Oct and put most everything in storage. We got the extension until 1 May I believe, but the house won't be done until about September. From the few folks I've talked to, building a house is not a good enough reason for more storage time. He said he's currently paying $750+ a month for storage and the government is no longer liable for damages. Are there any reasons that an additional extension could be granted?

Anyone happen to know of a vinyl/print shop in the North West Florida area that does a good helmet wrap? Our local shop shut down, and I’m going to be in the VPS area for a few weeks, was hoping the Elgin/Pcola folks had a go to place with experience. Thanks!

Anyone listen to Dave Smith on Coleman Hughes' podcast? It's loonnnggg (3.5 hours), and I can't understand how Coleman can stand to play nice with one of the most dishonest "pundits" in media right now, but it was fascinating to hear how full of shit Smith is. Despite his ignorance, Smith is a pretty good example of why libertarianism is an unworkable political philosophy and is more of a starting point for American thought. There's definitely too many comedians parading around as political historians and analysts.

As many as 10,000 airmen could be using smart phones on the job in the next year if the Air Force gets the money to buy them, according to a contractor on the project. Now everyone can have an iPhone to go with their personal 50" LCD. What an enormous waste of tax payer dollars.
