Squadron Bar

Off-topic discussion. Keep it civil, don't abuse this forum.

Forum Rules

1 – Keep it civil

If you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Opinions are great, constructive criticism is encouraged, third grade retorts are right out. Threads that devolve into pissing contents will be locked. If your post starts to drag a thread in that direction, it will be removed.  If you continue to instigate, you may face suspension of your posting abilities.

2 - Listen before you speak

A wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you ought to listen twice as much as you talk."

Fighter squadrons have a rule that you can’t speak until you’ve had been there a year, and there's some wisdom to this; don't just show up here spouting your wisdom to dudes who are not only veterans to this board, but veterans to the Air Force.  Hang out a while, read the posts, and be a fly on the wall. You'll see who's legit and who is generally clueless. This will prevent you from a severe case in foot-in-mouth-itis when you try to tell a combat proven pilot that he knows nothing while you sit at home waiting to see if your UPT package has been approved.

3 – UTFSF

Before you ask a dumb question, make sure it hasn’t been asked and answered – use the search function at the top right of each page.

4 - If it's been talked about before, keep it in the same thread.

After you follow Rule 3 but don't find exactly what you're looking for, revive one of the old threads instead of starting a brand new one. In other words, if you're trying to find information on housing at Del Rio and you find lots of old posts with Del Rio info, but nothing specifically answers your question - post your question at the end of one of those threads. This makes it easier for future searches so that 690 threads don't pop up when they try to search for "Del Rio Housing"

5 - Give it a subject line that makes sense

This seems anal, but there are several reasons. (1) If you have a nebulous subject like "Serious question" you're potentially not going to get answers from as many people as if your subject line was "Where to find Jeremiah Weed?" (2) It makes it easier for serious searches; the poor sap who types "SERE" into the search function will have a much easier time with specific subjects like "What do I bring to SERE?" vice just "SERE".

6 – No unpaid advertisements

Unpaid advertisements and promotion of outside websites are not allowed.  Individual items are allowed to be sold in the “Market Place” forum within in accordance with the rules of that forum.  For questions on paid advertising on this board, use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of each page.

I graduated in 2011, so it's been a while. But I remember going to Little Kitchen just off base on weekend mornings, occasionally being served by the same person who had entertained us the previous night at the Pony, and I thought they had some interesting decor on the walls. One of these items, located far in the back of the seating area (as far from the front door as I recall), was a framed printout of a poem. All I remember was that it was something about old soldiers no longer being so bold or no longer wanting to go to war, or something like that. Now that I'm out, it's been on my mind. Can anyone there do a little recon and post either the text or a photo of the pie…

Forty years later, Army colonel Henry Moak still loves his pound cake! Moak capped off his retirement ceremony by digging into an old can of military 'C' rations pound cake from 1969, which he brought back from Vietnam... :salut: to you, COL Moak, on your retirement! And for using a vintage P-38 can opener to open the cake! Cheers! M2 "Get some!"

  15. Los Angeles Times May 6, 2008 Pg. B10 Man Pleads Guilty To Lying About Medal By Scott Glover, Times Staff Writer A Pomona man who once boasted of being awarded the Medal of Honor pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to lying about receiving the award, the nation's top military honor. Inactivist Party VI. Make Your Voice Heard Marching is for filthy hippies, writing your representatives is for toadies, and volunteerism is for college students seeking political-science credits. The only correct action is to complain about whatever bothers you, insistently and repeatedly, on internet message boards. And, as a member of the Inactivist Party, there is one main issue that you should focus on above all others: How society is filled with a bunch of whiners who never shut up.

All right gents. I've got a three year old boy and his momma wants to hang (hanging model style)a cool airplane in his room. She wants it to be a cool biplane or otherwise early days of aviation rendition. She's pretty savvy in shopping matters but has met with no luck. I told her a SPAD XIII or a P-51 would pretty much be the true ticket of coolness and she agrees. However, we have not been able to find what we're looking for. Now, let me make myself clear. I don't want no half ass lookin' POS hangin from my boy's ceiling. I want a metal airplane model, true to specs (within reason) doing its thing in la la land. In other words, I want that s..t to look cool. …

  23. Ryanair has already demonstrated that it has no shame, but this one scrapes the bottom of the barrel. BBC: Ryanair mulls charge for toilets And O'Leary is wrong - I have flown on a Ryanair flight before without any cash on me. What is the money grabbing ejit going to do when people start pissing into plastic bottles - or all over their seat - on his flights?
