Squadron Bar
Off-topic discussion. Keep it civil, don't abuse this forum.
1 – Keep it civil
If you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Opinions are great, constructive criticism is encouraged, third grade retorts are right out. Threads that devolve into pissing contents will be locked. If your post starts to drag a thread in that direction, it will be removed. If you continue to instigate, you may face suspension of your posting abilities.
2 - Listen before you speak
A wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you ought to listen twice as much as you talk."
Fighter squadrons have a rule that you can’t speak until you’ve had been there a year, and there's some wisdom to this; don't just show up here spouting your wisdom to dudes who are not only veterans to this board, but veterans to the Air Force. Hang out a while, read the posts, and be a fly on the wall. You'll see who's legit and who is generally clueless. This will prevent you from a severe case in foot-in-mouth-itis when you try to tell a combat proven pilot that he knows nothing while you sit at home waiting to see if your UPT package has been approved.
3 – UTFSF
Before you ask a dumb question, make sure it hasn’t been asked and answered – use the search function at the top right of each page.
4 - If it's been talked about before, keep it in the same thread.
After you follow Rule 3 but don't find exactly what you're looking for, revive one of the old threads instead of starting a brand new one. In other words, if you're trying to find information on housing at Del Rio and you find lots of old posts with Del Rio info, but nothing specifically answers your question - post your question at the end of one of those threads. This makes it easier for future searches so that 690 threads don't pop up when they try to search for "Del Rio Housing"
5 - Give it a subject line that makes sense
This seems anal, but there are several reasons. (1) If you have a nebulous subject like "Serious question" you're potentially not going to get answers from as many people as if your subject line was "Where to find Jeremiah Weed?" (2) It makes it easier for serious searches; the poor sap who types "SERE" into the search function will have a much easier time with specific subjects like "What do I bring to SERE?" vice just "SERE".
6 – No unpaid advertisements
Unpaid advertisements and promotion of outside websites are not allowed. Individual items are allowed to be sold in the “Market Place” forum within in accordance with the rules of that forum. For questions on paid advertising on this board, use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of each page.

Trying to settle a bet with a young guy. Anyone know where it's written(or used to be written) what the standard signal for push to have quick is? Checked 3-3, 11-205, 11-218, 11-2mds all to no avail. Caveat that I hate losing bets...

I am putting together a custom order with Bremont for the HC-130. If you are interested let me know. We only need a few more orders to make it happen. I would like to have everything finalized by the end of June.

My brother and I are going out there for the Vikes game. We'll be out there for a few days so we'll be looking for stuff to do. We don't like the normal touristy crap, unless there are some must sees. Anybody have any ideas for cool stuff to do/check out?

Straight from the desk of the worlds biggest shoe clerk, the third (and arguably most ridiculous) email sent by our newest CGOC President. Try not to puke: Hmmm. I think what we've got here is an example of a gal who couldn't get laid in high school. Then again, maybe she's right. Take stock of your lives, boys, and acknowledge the utter futility. Let's leave the difficult work to the real professionals. With warfighters like this doing the J-O-B, the rest of us can just take it easy sipping on our faggoty blue drinks and lamenting our small cocks. Unbelievable.

Anyone happen to know of a vinyl/print shop in the North West Florida area that does a good helmet wrap? Our local shop shut down, and I’m going to be in the VPS area for a few weeks, was hoping the Elgin/Pcola folks had a go to place with experience. Thanks!

Beers to those who help me defeat the man! (Disclaimer, you must come to DC to collect, I will also pay up if I find myself TDY to your location) Below is a picture of my lovely bride captured by a DC Speed camera...in a freaking Work Zone (with no workers), so she got a $125.00 ticket. She swears she was not speeding and that she knows exactly where this camera is so she is always careful in that area. She is not a known lead foot and I tend to believe her as I was directly behind her in the same lane, (we were on the way to the beach for a week), and I did not get a ticket. I was going to just pay the freaking ticket when I noticed the other car in the pictu…

So it looks like after all this time the old wife is moving out, on top of that I'm about to PCS and she has said for work reasons she ain't coming with me. I searched topics and didn't find anything specific so if this is a repeat please kindly point me in the right direction and I'll delete this. No doubt someone else on this forum has gone through it...any advice on how to not get completely screwed as a military guy? I honestly don't want it to go that far but at the same time, I am quite tired of her shit. I have two kids that I adore more than anything in the world so I want to make life as easy as I can on them. I would be fully willing to mediate this out lik…

Hoping one of you fine aviators can help me with our squadron’s Heritage Room. We’re looking to renovate it and make it relevant again. The JAG and others throughout the wing have historically scoffed at us having our own “bar”, even though the bar is just one piece of what this area means to the unit. I’m looking to help justify its existence and keep the “Bobs” at bay, and having some AF-level guidance would certainly help in that endeavor. Does anyone know of an AFI, MFR, or other guidance that speaks directly to a unit’s heritage facilities and what the requirements are to allow alcohol consumption in said facility?

Didn't see a subforum for introductions, so I figured I'd post a brief one here. Enlisted dude, not a flyer, but heard about this place so I figured I'd swing by and check it out myself. Come to think of it, this is a pretty crappy thread to start. Sorry in advance.

Open invite to merge this with the "Things to Listen to While Drunk on BO" thread...but here's the equipment angle. Does anyone here have a sweet stereo setup? Thinking about ditching my 2000's era 5.1 stuff and buying some restored vintage equipment for a 2.1 setup. Or, after 10 years and 1500+ hours of jet noise and another 10-20 to go, should I even bother?

I guess I am biased because my old man flew the Rhino, but the F-4 is one of my all time favorite aircraft.

I saw the thread last week about everyone's favorite airplanes, and thought it'd be a cool to see what everyone's favorite patches are - either from your previous squadrons, or historical ones too. My two are from the 318th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at McChord (now gone), and the 7th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Holloman (now 7th CTS) - didn't fly in either one, but both have sentimental value to me because of family ties to the squadrons. Happy Friday to all!

Did a quick search and haven't seen this posted here. If so, delete thread and I'll shack myself. This was linked on another board of mine. Some pretty cool pics of present-day Ho Chi Minh trail. The locals obviously haven't taken heed to the warnings in their UXO CBTs. https://www.laosgpsmap.com/ho-chi-minh-trail-laos/

I'm deploying in a few months for the first time in about 3 years. It's a non-flying gig. For some background, I'm the "gun guy." I have my own preferences on holsters that I've come to by trial and error. My last rote had me flying, wearing a bag, and a shoulder holster was the best option, for me. Now, we're all in OCP's, So a belt holster seems an easier and better option. I haven't been able to find an OI or AFI that dictates what kind of holster may be used for an M9 at the big OEF bases. What I need to know is requirements on position, material, retention, as well as magazine carriers. The easiest way is if someone can point me to the written regs …

Thanks to COVID I went ahead and put together a home gym. Our ANG base gym is closed until fall... Took forever to piece together with everything sold out and back-ordered online, but it's pretty sweet being able to lift at home. FYSA Rep Fitness and Vulcan Strength have 5% military discounts, Rogue doesn't unfortunately. Anyone else out there doing this?

I got into the hobby of home brewing beer over the last year and would like to keep it going after relocating this year. I'm heading off toward the end of this summer for my first training base and wondered if anyone has ever had experience with someone in their squadron brewing beer. I'm hoping to make it into something that I can do with my class and maintain as a weekend hobby/stress reliever.

Looking for some feedback and solutions of others. I have a lot of porn....errr personal files and I am looking for a backup solution that is safe and allows for world-wide access. I am not a big fan of the cloud services...giving big tech all my data is not high on my list and personally I think there will be a large cloud cyber attack in the near future. I've looked at several home cloud options and have ruled our Western Digital after the big hack and some nefarious nonsense around requiring hard drive replacement every three years. As of now I am thinking the Synology DS1522+ which I would set up as a Raid 1. We have a lot of old family pictures and vid…
