Hopefully the talk starts with, “2/3 of you will be walking out that door a civilian. TYFYS.” -
Not to crap on anyone but I think preparing a truly competitive package and meeting the needs of the Air Force will probably be what gets you through the door. And further more already being rated makes things super competitive for you already because as a rated officer, you don’t really get put in leadership positions until your what a captain? Most Lt’s in non rated jobs are OIC’s as second Lt’s. Additionally, the way you are selected for this board may be the same way OTS boards go. They could only have a certain number of slots needing to be filled and depending on your board score if you don’t have a good enough board score it may not get you over the threshold to get one of those slots. Example, I’ve seen some packages of people explaining all that they’ve done in their current career field and all the good they’ve done but not really highlight their potential in the new field their trying to get into. So yes there may be an increase in Lt selections, but what careers fields are those Lt’s in, how many of them are rated, how many of them actually led and demonstrated the ability to take on a level of increased responsibility.

That's a lot of non-availability letters, at least 2 reams for the just the GOs. Can you imagine the line at the Inn? I say money/time well spent. Its about time someone held an open ranks inspection at the GO level. Then make em do a big beautiful parade. Then, GO Squid Game. 🤣 -
Did some number crunching today because what else do I have to do for two months? The number of Lt pilot selects doubled from FY23 to FY24 (11-22) then again from FY24 to FY25 (22-46). Total pilots were 70 70 and 100. Lts got 24 of the additional 30 slots while captains only went up by 3 in FY25 (48-51). Also all the CSO selects were Lts. Seems like a trend towards selection of more Lts and perhaps more slots allocated to the younger year groups. I want to say years ago the reg was the 5 years TFCS instead of 8 so perhaps 3-6 years is a sweet spot for "potential" when they score.

800 GOFOs? WTactualF...time for a large culling of the herd. Random thoughts: 1. The number of straphangers/peppergrinders that will also travel is going to be stunning. Aide(s), security details, comm teams, CAG directors or equivalants, etc, etc, etc. Pretty big airlift right there. And imagine finance having to deal with this during a government shutdown. Oh, the wailing and gnashing of teeth will be glorious... 2. Spare a thought for the 800 execs/aides/CAG directors, etc who are being mercilessly squeezed right now to find out WTF? Will bros in SECDEF/(SECWAR?) leak and take the risk? Somebody will undoubtedly, whether uniform or civilian. But the hours spent thrashing will also be glorious...pretty sure all business at 4-star places will this 24/7 to cover every possible contingency ("Prep a brief/note cards/talking points on XYZ x 1 million") Think of the wasted electrons... 3. NGB was told to chop GO billets as well. Wonder if the administration will target only certain states? -
For sure. I heard stories about some Generals breathing down the UFT Board President's neck (typically an O-6 Rated Officer) to make sure that certain individual(s) make the cut, completely bypassing merit and "whole person concept". But hey, that's the world we live in.

I think it could be that they potentially weigh the letter of rec heavier as well in some cases. I’ve heard of people with lower scores getting picked up and they had Generals signing off vouching for leadership. That coupled with wanting to diversify from different career fields and ranks could maybe be some of the reasons but who really knows, just a best guess.

Brotha, just a quick note on the Lts... my third time applying as a Capt with 99 PCSM / 99 Pilot (stratted 4/10 at Wg last year). The amount of 2d Lts and 1st Lts I saw last year who got picked up crushed me. I was deployed working simultaneously as a SQ DO and Wing A-Staff, so when they say 40% leadership and somehow a 2d Lt was chosen over me - who knows what this board is even looking at. Also, the last two years there's been people who got picked up with PCSMs in the 20's... Never been so salty before in my life. Would argue there is still some sort of nepotism or cronyism in play on top of the "whole person concept".

No they have access to all of that stuff already. Some are just wanting to get their opb that maybe just closed out and wasn’t a part of their file yet to be included in their UFT package. The board is already happening and the majority of the packages have probably already been reviewed. Honestly I don’t think an opb is going to move the needle enough to yield a selection or not. If the rest of your package shows your potential to be an effective aviator and you have good scores that’ll move the needle. I wouldn’t worry about anything. Nothing much you can really do at this point.

2026 ACTIVE DUTY UFT BOARD
Mintberry_crunch replied to rparsonsr2's topic in Pilot Selection Process
Are they reaching out for OPBs? I’ve been TDY for AFA so I wasn’t tracking them reaching out. I know my strat at the wing and I know my package is complete based on the gentleman at AFPC giving me notification. I’m just not tracking the OPBs request but I heard that was a thing in previous boards. -

Interesting way to get the Dems’ support on allowing Putin to keep the seized territory.
-
POTUS now interested in Ukraine gaining all of their territory back. Pretty dramatic shift from even 30’days ago.

OK, BroBroLand, your highlighted text above, my reply below. "... in September 2024, federal agents in Texas pursuing an unrelated case learned that Mr. Homan was soliciting payments in exchange for promises to award federal contracts if Donald Trump won the election. The FBI acted on this lead and undercover agents, posing as business executives, met with Mr. Homan. According to internal Justice Department documents corroborated by multiple sources, hidden cameras and audiotapes captured Mr. Homan accepting $50,000 in cash in a restaurant takeout bag and agreeing to help steer government contracts to the executives and their companies in a future Trump Administration." Link I wonder where the cash is. Speaking of weaponizations, kettle, meet pot. Trump orders Bondi to go get em. But but, they did it first....

He was and he was talking to Saban when he said it...it was in the interview I mentioned...Guess you didn't see it.

Listen Brochacho, you used Burke as an obvious example of the Trump admin for a) nominating Homan, who was of such questionable ethics that he would accept a bribe, and b) that there is an implied conspiracy by Trump, then directing the FBI to drop the charges...or else your "That makes perfect sense" comment is wildly misleading. You could also admit you didn't read the article, or chose to ignore the comment that there was no bribery as a fact of law, or admit that its a little sus that the Biden admin would choose to set-up a honey-trap (i.e. entrapment) investigation into the leading contender for the border security role...something he claimed he was unable to do without more laws from Congress, and was shown to be wrong about by Homan and Trump. The only reason it's being reported on is because Democrats in Congress are pushing it...just like the Ukraine perfect phone call impeachment, or the novel use of fraud statutes, or creative estimations of real estate valuation as the basis of a loan in which everyone made money, and there was no victim. I never said I wouldn't call out Homan guilty...but there was no initial suspicion to start an investigation, the Democrats have a history of chasing naked, raw political power since Obama was in office, and the weaponization of government (FBI, DOJ, CIA, IRS, etc) against Republicans and independents that get in their way. I'll close the same way I closed last time, but in a bigger font, and emphasized, since you missed it last time: Excuse me if I'd like to see a bit more before I get concerned.

I brought up a comparison in the world of bribery, Brony. Burke gets a 6er in the Fed pen, probably not as friendly as Madam Maxwell's digs, and Trump buddy Homan plays on. You could have said something like, "yeah, that's shady, taking a paper sack of cash," but no, went straight to attacking the reporting, which was a story because the DOJ made it news by dropping the case. Why bud? Aren't we allowed to have decent people running govt offices these days? This is my reason for posting it here, no matter what letter is behind their name. As for drying up, maybe tomorrow. Ds in Congress are requesting the FBI release the bribe engagement tapes. Wanna bet that doesn't happen?
