  4. My feeling, based on my squadron and talking to friends at several other fighter squadrons, is most have changed to a more organized/by invitation rush event model, with exceptions as required. When you have 300+ apps, you just can’t support the amount of random drop-ins that would occur if it was a free for all like several years ago.
  5. Just out of curiosity, are units still allowing traditional rushing or have most units gone to an invitation only for the rush process?

Rahimi United States v. Rahimi - Wikipedia is the case I think you're referring too. Merrick Garland, I believe really pushed it I'm sure in part to give the libs on the court another bite at the gun control apple. Rahimi was hardly a sympathetic defendant and I'm sure that was the point. The whole "bad facts make for bad law". This touches on another issue. When any current DOJ/AG goes to SCOTUS they seem to jump to the front of the line when it comes to getting SCOTUS to grant cert.

Sort of. Bruen was pretty substantial in that established a new rule by which to weigh all cases. A historical precedent for restriction. And it it set the historical timeline basically all the way back to the founding and before. It was a huge win. However, and the name of the case escapes me right now, but it was followed up by a case that had a very ambiguous allowance for reasonable restrictions, without much of a definition. So it was very much a two steps forward one step back type of deal. While it's still more substantial firearms case law than we've had in decades, it has been incomplete. I think it's just a matter of time now, with all of the changes a foot and what seems to be a pretty dramatic increase in gun and accessory sales over the last few years. Suppressors are a perfect example. You didn't see many of them in the past and now they are being sold by the millions each year. Forced reset triggers are another interesting one. The bump stock ruling certainly made FRTs more defensible, but at the end of the day, bump stocks and bump firing were were a workaround to simulate an automatic weapon. It was never going to be a widely practiced or consumed technique. FRTs on the other hand require no technique or understanding, and effectively bypass the entire NFA restriction on automatic weapons. I think that's going to end up at the supreme Court sooner rather than later.

I don’t follow this stuff as closely as many of you do and as closely as I should.. but it seems to me they are still hiding from 2A issues. Isn’t Bruen summarized as: “send all these 2A cases back to the lower courts so we don’t have to deal with them.. by the way, here’s a vague ruling to assist”
  9. CSS notified and forwarded to member, at least in this case. I’m not seeing anything on my vMPF or using any of the tricks to see orders while they’re still loading through the system.

  11. Do those come via email or is CSS / CC notified first?
  12. Buddy who got picked up for CSO was sent a RIP late this afternoon. Stellar timing for a government shutdown LOL

I'm in favor of these laws only because they are forcing the issue to SCOTUS faster. SCOTUS has been hiding from the 2nd amendment my whole life, and only recently have they finally given it some respect. But not enough, and obviously "high capacity" magazines, assault weapons, NFA, CCW, and FRTs all need to be addressed definitively. But Roberts is a coward. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This could probably be discussed in more than one thread given current events. New Assault Weapons Ban & Magazine Ban Is Coming! Rhode Island made it a Felony in 2022 to even possess a magazine over 10 rounds no matter when it was acquired and SCOTUS has denied cert so far on the subject in the relevant cases. Fortunately, Rhode Island is way outside of my normal area of travel, but we could all find ourselves one day with our trusty Glock 19 and its 15-rd. supplied magazine as newly minted felons. Would we meekly submit to handcuffs and fight it out in court since that what the "Law and Order" crowd would espouse? From what I've seen it doesn't appear the courts are going to be any help at all on this particular subject at least for the foreseeable future. Honestly it appears what constitutes law and order depends greatly on a person's world view. Truly interested in the BO community take on this.
  15. Yep, that should account for about 1 trillion in infrastructure spending 🤣😂

  18. If the aforementioned Gulfstreams are certified in the US and EU, expect some posturing from Canada followed by quiet but swift certification of the planes. That's my bet

  23. At least 2-3 years ago. The story was the dudes wife did it as a prank, she also worked on base. I believe she was terminated. No idea what happened to him. FWIW, I had no first hand knowledge, was not in my squadron. I left for greener pastures shortly after the incident.
