The Guard and Reserves are gonna have a huge retention problem, IMO. Everyone I know who is retirement eligible is punching the second they can. It was already a funky math problem to get the numbers to work in the favor of military when compared to current airline pay but, add in never ending deployments in even worse conditions than before with a much higher risk factor in an unpopular conflict with unknown objectives... Yea, I think most people would rather risk being furloughed than that. And, anecdotally, a lot of my buddies leaving AD aren't even trying for ANG/AFRC jobs. Just straight cut to the airlines.

The other stupid shit of going out to a ramp of 60 KC-135s and instead of looking at a tail number for the right jet, I guess just spend time to look at every jet’s forms until you get to the right one? I guess Mini didn’t realize that if the CAF wasn’t doing his dumb ass tail number and callsign shit, the MAF probably didn’t need to either.

The random callsign generator for stateside ops is the dumbest shit [On the phone with the tanker unit] “Cool we’ll see you guys at AR6969 CT1500z, what’s your callsign?” “Oh we don’t get our callsign until step” … “Well our step is before yours so I guess we’ll just show up to the track and hope we have the right guys 🤷🏻‍♂️”

This is also the same idiot who took tail flashes off active-duty AMC aircraft because apparently China doesn't use ADS-B and stopped the use of static callsigns for homestation training sorties. He's also the guy who greenlighted a one-pilot KC-46 flight. The same aircraft that has numerous CAT-I deficiencies. Removing tail flashes and not holding Boeing to the fire over the KC-46 is not really the future threat (China) planning that he liked to yap about.

Unfortunately it's a feature, not a bug, of the anti-gun states. They're baking the court costs into their calculus, and passing unconstitutional legislation anyway. It's a long term war of attrition.

Yep. I think maybe one of the ugliest things coming, and I don't mean ugly as in wrong, I just mean it's going to be turbulent and brutal, is the termination of legal immigration to the United States. It wasn't even on my radar until recently when someone who had just written a book about it was making the podcast circuits, and pointed out that a lot of what we're seeing today was happening in the early 1900s, and it was a couple decades of functionally zero immigration that re-enabled the cultural integration machine. Turns out, people don't integrate into a new society if you give them a steady stream of new immigrants from their original cultures. It happened with the varying European cultures back before the world wars, and it's happening with the varying third world cultures today. The H-1B is just a particularly cartoonish example of what goes wrong when you turn immigration policy into a global Utopia issue rather than a pragmatic issue of national interests. All right

My issue with all this is it’s just performative right wing macho virtue signaling. They’re also starting idiotic force shaping initiatives during a war where they’re gonna need everyone they can get. The mass exodus this Iran debacle is going to cause will be one for the history books. I’ll put my flag in the sand right now and say in 2-3 yrs there will be severe manning shortages in the military. And while the media is off deep diving on Pete’s low t initiatives that probably only apply to 5% of the force over the age of 40-45, Pete is busy misrepresenting our capabilities and progress to the president wrt the current conflict

Getting the medical done is a big deal. My stuff is all submitted, I’m going to try and forget about it now so I can go about in peace. It all varies. Who knows what slots look like. Looks like the few I have seen go to Vance start quickly. My buddy showed up there and started IPT quickly. I am okay with a little wait time, gives me more time to study and prepare my family for training. I have 3 kids, so would be nice to get a little established somewhere before the grind starts. I put ENJJPT first, but I’m happy to go to the other bases too. And UHT.
