  2. If thatโ€™s the case, it would be really awesome if they sent an update email to everyone. I was told a couple of weeks ago that they should start loading assignments again soon. They had started, but got bogged down with AETC taskers and were expected to be getting back on track last week.

  4. An AFSOC C-146A Wolfhound struck a concrete barrier while taking off in the Philippines causing substantial damage to the aircraft and some injuries to the crew. When this appeared on my feed my first question was what the hell is a C-146A? It's a Dornier Do 328 twin turboprop aircraft that's part of the eclectic coterie of Key West Agreement sized aircraft that the Air Force operates with a diaspora of aircrew in far-flung corners of the world. When I worked at ATA years ago I used to jumpseat on these all the time, I cannot remember which airline operated them but they had a fairly modern glass cockpit layout at the time and had a unique navigation system. Instead of INS, IRS, or Ring Laser Gyro they used a system that would triangulate multiple radio Navaids for a position solution. I don't remember what it was called but the crews seemed to really like the aircraft. The Do 328 was short lived in US Airline service and quickly replaced by Regional Jets so I'm sure the AF picked up some of these for a reasonable cost.
  5. Wow. I don't have a dog in this fight, but damn. Pulling CSO and RPA LTs off of casual status en masse to go to UPT? That's pretty unprecedented if true (not doubting these posters, just questioning the second hand nature of the info).
  6. Received a response after leadership reached out on my behalf. A delay of a "couple more weeks" is likely as those short-term training gaps are being filled by others.
  7. Guys letโ€™s put out good vibes, tomorrow is the day!

  10. Theyโ€™ll be getting a mass influx of emails if not; I heard today that RPA students on casual status got the same treatment as CSOs with offers to go manned. I wonder if theyโ€™re giving them all the soonest dates?

  16. So we thinking we're getting a mass drop of assignments tomorrow or are we all getting emails back Monday saying they'll be coming "soon"?
  17. Dude flew at my airline, got fired. Evidently NOBODY had a good thing to say about him,, lots of issues.

I wouldn't use the term "victims," I am confidence they were part of the huge Cuban community residing in the US waiting for a chance to overthrow Fidel (now Raul) when the opportunity arises. The group was allegedly armed with assault rifles, handguns, Molotov cocktails, bulletproof vests, telescopic sights and camouflage gear. I also don't think the timing was coincidental either in terms of the Brothers to the Rescue event 30 years ago or the current situation in Cuba. Cubaโ€™s territorial sea extends 12 nautical miles from its coastline. Entering this zone without authorization is illegal, and boats can face penalties including fines, imprisonment or vessel seizure. You can add direct action to that list! They knew where they were and what they were trying to do...that's FAFO territory in red!
  19. Might be a case of FAFO and the anniversary to the Brothers to the Rescue shoot down is interesting to say the least, as it is only the Cubans word at this point that the FL boat shot first Iโ€™ll hold my cards but I gotta know if you have a boat that can go that distance on open water and presumably were planning on returning home, did you not know you were in Cuban waters? Iโ€™m not blaming the victim here but you gotta be careful and know your boundaries, particularly now when that regime is about ready to go under, wounded animal theory.
  20. Romantic tryst led to Mexican cartel leader's capture, death | Reuters Who are we kidding? I think we've all paid a price in our lives at some point because we thought with a certain body part to the exclusion of all else. Sometimes the price can be pretty steep.

The irony is the incident also comes almost 30 years to the day since Cuban defense forces shot down two small civilian planes belonging to Brothers to the Rescue, a US-based group that searched for rafts carrying migrants from Cuba to the US. Four people aboard were killed in the 1996 incident, triggering outrage in the US. Coincidence? Maybe not...

Sounds like a FAFO event to me! According to the Cuban Interior Ministry statement, the speedboat passengers began shooting at the Cuban Coast Guard vessel when it approached them, wounding its commander. The fatalities occurred when the Cuban ship returned fire. The Interior Ministry provided the Florida registration number of the speedboat, and said it was detected about one nautical mile northeast of the El Pino channel, near the island of Cayo Falcones. โ€œAs a consequence of the confrontation, as of the time of this report, four aggressors on the foreign vessel were killed and six injured,โ€ the ministry said, claiming that the injured persons were evacuated to receive medical care. โ€œIn the face of current challenges, Cuba reaffirms its determination to protect its territorial waters, based on the principle that national defense is a fundamental pillar of the Cuban State in safeguarding its sovereignty and ensuring stability in the region,โ€ the ministry added, alluding to current tensions between the United States and Cuba. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c24drvj8yl2o
  23. Denaturalize and deport her sorry butt
  24. Got it. I definitely did not hit a nerve. Thanks for clearing that up ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ
  25. Don't flatter yourself. You are of no account and your uninformed opinion doesn't matter. This discussion is about preserving the honor surrounding the actions of heroes, as is my response. I will call out anyone who so blatantly critics any MoH recipient, especially those who weren't there. Small individuals who choose to criticize the man in the arena and his rewards all deserve the same treatment: exposure of their cowardice and dismissal. I've worked too closely with real heroes to see their heroism belittled by insignificant men.
  26. Sounds like I hit a nerve. Noted.
