  1. I figured they would have a double sided one like Requiem for a Dream but what do I know.
  2. It was a publicized board and not an individual thing. There was one guy from each heavy community that went to each fighter. For example, a KC-135 guy went Raptor. I think a C-17 guy went Strikes.
  3. Pick based on mission and you’ll be happy. And even if you don’t get your choice, you’ll love where you end up unless you’re just a miserable person then it won’t make a difference where you go. If you’re interested in single pilot flying out of the T-1 track, I’d lean into U-28 because that community is going OA-1K and that’s only going to have a single pilot.
  4. Angsty 1 tour Viper guy sent to UPT with an inflated sense of self and a bad attitude?! I don’t believe it.
  5. JFC I hate that “my fighter” phrase. Confirm this Turd thought that if he tanked PIT, he’d get sent back to a gray jet?
  6. Sounds like it’s time to shoot a hostage and wash a guy out for military CAP type reasons.
  7. First drop I witnessed at SPS was 5 x UAV, 5 x U-28/PC-12, a FAIP, 1 x B-52, and 1 x F-15E. I also say this as a graduate of ENJJPT, the fact that people are much more likely to drop fighters based on their ability to do well in college/OTS is a joke. It’s how you end up with folks that fly fighters instead of fighter pilots (massive difference). I stopped through SPS awhile back and overheard a student say something to the effect of he didn’t have to excel just survive to end up in a Viper. I wanted to choke slam him.
  8. With the constant stream of bitching from this site with the force ran by straight white male fighter pilots, maybe it’s time to put the gay Jewish black chick tanker pilot in there. This is obviously satire. No way a Tanker pilot should be CSAF.
  9. Wow, that is ridiculous. I’d be shocked if Congress didn’t intervene there.
  10. I’m not sure of the specs but I think so. I know the existing weapons storage at the bases didn’t meet the AOW requirements. It surprised me at HRT but really did at CVS since that was a F-16 base and they had a really diverse catalog of weapons. I assumed they would be good but I guess not.
  11. It’s a multi step process. Step one is the application. If you make it past that, you’ll get brought out for the flying interview which includes flights in a glider, C-12, and a T-38 (I think). I assume you’re a pilot and not a Flight Test Engineer (FTE)?
  12. I legit feel bad for CSAF candidates that are anything but straight, white fighter pilot males. If one of them gets picked (happened to Gen Brown), everyone will glom onto their skin color/gender/orientation. I can’t imagine how demoralizing that would be to have served for almost 40 years and everyone assumes you only made it as the diversity hire.
  13. You basically described the Turing Test (maybe intentionally?) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turing_test All this AI stuff is very interesting, but the leap to general AI is something that I don’t necessarily believe we will get to ever. A book called “The Myth of Artificial Intelligence” (https://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog.php?isbn=9780674983519) by Erik Larson is very good on this subject. The most interesting part of it to me is that we all just kind of assume general Ai will get here because we do. It’s not following a scientific method. Algorithmic AI is incredible and the exponential growth is shocking, but making that leap to general AI is significant.
  14. I’ll stomp this now and crush dreams that if DM goes AFSOC, it’ll be in addition to and not a replacement of Cannon. With the OA-1K coming online, DM is great because of the existing infrastructure for A-10 ops with weapons storage that isn’t present at other bases. Turns out you can’t just put AGR-20’s in a big bunker with all the Gunship stuff.
  15. I’m not an O-6 but I ask that if you stay AD, do it because you enjoy the AD life and will do your best to improve the enterprise. If you are doing it purely for retirement benefits, just move on to the next thing because I’m sure you won’t enjoy it.
  16. I had felt bad that my 4 kids were destroying my credit score and budget by their existence but now I’m stoked they’ll save me several hundred a year. Yay!
  17. So do you keep your retirement pension going and can still be a TR? Do those years add onto your annuity or how does that all work?
  18. To be the nerd here but women’s wrestling is actually getting pretty popular and starting to show up at traditional powerhouse wrestling schools like Iowa. Also, the best interview from an American gold medalist was from Tamara Mensah-Stock. Awesome stuff.
  19. Basically Title IX said you had to have equivalent number of men’s and women’s scholarships. Hardly any women’s sports generate money in college and sports like football take up a bunch of scholarships (85 at FBS level). As a result, wrestling would often get cut to free up 10 scholarships and because it’s not a revenue generating sport either at a lot of schools.
  20. Well if all this business keeps going, I’m selfishly hoping if Title IX gets repealed (idiotic), NCAA wrestling programs will see a resurgence. Those programs got slaughtered and are usually low hanging fruit under Title IX.
  21. I’m absolutely not trying to start a religious debate (full disclosure I’m a practicing Christian) but this type of comment always intrigues me. Every phase of humanity (at least Western cultures post-Renaissance) has thought they were the peak of human knowledge and understanding. Time and time again, we’ve proven ourselves wrong and changed our thoughts on things. Hell, look at the progress of aviation where the peak of scientific knowledge and thought basically proved it was impossible or we couldn’t pass the sound barrier, etc. My $0.02 is that I think we were all blessed by our creator with the ability to think critically and that is a blessing, not something to be stomped out. Having said that, I don’t understand why kids get cancer, why war happens, why MyEval keeps coming back, etc. Whether it’s a divine test (story of Job), a lesson (rain falls on the just and unjust alike), or just a bad deal (Psalm 73:3 & 13…basically says bad people have good things and what’s the point of living right when I get bad things), I truly don’t know. And I’m sure non-Christians will dunk on me for this, but I find peace in that.
  22. https://theaviationgeekclub.com/usaf-retires-its-last-mc-130h-combat-talon-ii-89-0280-after-delivering-the-aircraft-to-the-boneyard-at-davis-monthan-afb/ End of an era with the retirement of the MC-130H Combat Talon II. Great and proud legacy for this airplane and the crews have given great service over three decades to this country.
  23. I’ve done several of these major city training ops but every time the hits took place, it was in abandoned buildings or the like. I even got asked if I wanted to play opfor in an abandoned mental hospital out on Long Island at 0200 once. Seeing as how that’s the start of a horror movie, I politely declined. Bill de Blasio also saw me almost get simunitioned and detained on the Staten Island ferry but that’s another story from that trip. Also, if you ever get the chance to do the Hudson River tour VFR in your respective jets, be sure to do it. Awesome experience. Getting terrain warnings off the Freedom Tower is pretty wild.
  24. I’m not going to pitch in on the political left vs right but I don’t know how you could watch that and not think chaos was present.
