  1. At least you don't have to fly them...I despise staffers.
  2. So...exactly like the C40/BBJ then. 700 fuselage, 800 wing/gear...and ghetto fabulous aux tanks.
  3. 100% possible. But, statistically unlikely. My class (granted this was a while ago) got AD to Scott, March, and Birmingham in the same drop. Figure, they get one or two new people a year.
  4. Mostly agree, but ops tempo and having a predictable schedule also are huge for quality of life. I could not have sustained my life as a tanker toad from 2014-2017. Min dwell between deployments and then red flags shoe horned in between, plus other crap crushed me. And, even today, if I don't have approved leave on the books then nothing is safe or sacred. There are still many communities running their people to the breaking point.
  5. Schweet. Don't happen to have a source/memo for that though? Nobody on my end has heard it.
  6. https://www.iranintl.com/en/202305275606 The CIA and State Department right now:
  7. Summary of AAL's AIP is out. Some good, some meh...not industry leading, IMO. Doesn't even meet DAL's pay rate for another 2 years. Unless there is some magical language in the actual/full contract when it gets released:
  8. True, freight gets to fly around literal boxes of dildos. Not this onesie twosie weak sauce...
  9. Yes...and the current one is a legit bad ass: https://www.jcs.mil/Leadership/Article-View/Article/2039792/seac-ramn-cz-coln-lpez/
  10. Maybe this is their version of the Doolittle Raid.
  11. Don't forget they like to PCS O-6's right at 2 years so there is another 2 year ADSC. Hard to cut it to less than 4 years unless you can snag the first assignment overseas then it's only a 1 year commitment to come back stateside.
  12. Yesterday Sudanese Mig-29's attacking the Rapid Intervention Forces: Also yesterday:
  13. A dramatic depiction of the Air Force in literally any deal/program/agreement they put out:
  14. Has anyone had their base finance push back on the 20 days of PTDY if you are separating? Mine is saying that is a benefit only for people who are retiring. The DAFI 36-3003 states: "pre-separation or retirement relocation activity such as job or residence search and is eligible under as a: (1) Voluntary separation incentive separatee." I can't find the definition of "incentive separatee" anywhere.
  15. DO's need incentive pay, IMO. The CC at least has a chance at promotion and is their because they want to be (most of the time). The DO is probably in that position against their will, has limited promotion potential, and is getting the same amount of crap as the CC...just one is ops and the other is people. Edit: And I am not even a DO. 😇
  16. Let's see which ones apply: Yeap, definitely in an abusive relationship.
  17. It was planned months in advance. Sadly, shit happens. If we cancelled every DV movement because something else was happening in the world nobody would ever go anywhere. Considering I'm one of those resources that gets wasted for all this travel, you'd be correct, I don't see a problem with FLOTUS going to Africa. Countering China's advances/influence in the African continent is a huge priority.
  18. Hopefully they try to avoid the poisonous, backstabbing, terrible environment that went with putting a bunch of #1 strat/fast burner types all in the same squadron that McConnell experienced...but doubtful.
  19. Not taking it as a personal attack. I'm one to dismiss, ignore, and skirt every type of queep/bureaucracy to get the mission done (sidebar: it actually made for a great TMAAT story at my legacy interview). But Mini is what...at least the 3rd 4-star in a row to talk about how we need to accelerate or die, right? What has changed? Has anything gotten better? I see it all as empty words. Go in and publicly fire some people that are holding up progress. Publicly promote the dudes who solved the complex tactical issue that CH mentioned. I don't disagree with Mini's intent but, after 6-9 years of hearing it, and not seeing any traction take place I just can't be bothered anymore.
  20. Kinda weird that the memo is dated 1 Feb (a couple days in the future from when it was sent). But, overlooking that slight anomaly, I think it was a poor attempt to try and (re)galvanize AMC into a wartime mindset. The people that are going to have to worry about their vRED and getting slapped around by China don't need to be told to empty a "clip" (WTF) into the head. Ops and MXG already have that mind set. Get the other groups onboard. But that will never happen. The frozen middle administrators in support roles in AMC make everything harder than it needs to be. I want to be optimistic about what he is trying to accomplish but this memo was a piss poor attempt IMO. February: My bases CATM literally can't keep up with the current demand so all the pilots we have no longer keep up weapons qual. Now they want everyone to shoot in the month February? Okay...that's not going to happen. Update vRED. Neat. Can I just wait until it's mandatory for me to update it or do I literally need to waste time and look it over? Also, thanks for reminding me that in a war with China I'm gonna die. I'll just add that to my pros/cons of getting out of the Air Force list...how much QOL is dying worth? I guess the $400k SGLI will be nice though...anyone know if civilian life insurance covers PL-15's or is that something I have to get specific policy for? March: Go see JAG to get my household affairs in order. Neat...again. Maybe the JAG will know the answer about my life insurance question. I think I'll just push the separation button slightly earlier actually. I can do that from my office instead of going all the way to the JAG. We can't even get a working autopilot on the -135 and you want to modify it to be a drone carrier? How about we get it back into RVSM airspace as a realistic and achievable goal. /rant
  21. Also, what happened to "clear left/right" before crossing a runway?
