  1. If you two were looking for a sign for whether or not to stay in or go airlines...just saying...
  2. Well bad news then, the Artemis launch was scrubbed due to maintenance. So that'll put you guys back a step.
  3. So if you're inside of one year remaining you are ineligible for the bonus? Am I comprehending that right?
  4. Somebody shooting at somebody over Donbas. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/dogfight-over-ukraine-shows-the-air-war-is-still-very-much-being-fought
  5. Russia is gonna have a huge male/female disparity in the opposite direction as China. I wonder how the average Anastasia 22 year old feels about a quazi-arranged Chinese marriage. Either that or Russianbrides.com is about to get cheaper due to the supply surplus.
  6. I'm more shocked that the Marine 1 crews wear bags. I'm pretty sure an ICBM could be inbound and I'd still have to change into blues to fly any Top 5 mission, let alone POTUS.
  7. I mean, why wouldn't we change the way we count? We did just redefine "recession" too. "Lies, damn lies, statistics."
  8. Props to the men and women of the 73d & 54th AS! Maybe this can help save their wing from being shutdown. Yea, that's not how these missions work. We get DIPs just like everyone else does (well, kinda).
  9. What letter we on these days? Zulu? (Seriously though, is there a name for the new strain?)
  10. IMO, at this point, if she doesn't go to Taiwan now (for literally any reason) it will be such a PR victory for China. It will give them confidence that they can dictate US political travel in their AOR.
  11. Anecdotal, but I was in Portland two weeks ago. Our copilot who was meeting us for dinner got spit on and chased by a homeless person. It was like playing frogger dodging all the tents and literal human pieces of shit to get back to our hotel. Also, literally just got back from SFO today and it wasn't as bad as Portland, but still tons of homeless everywhere and very dirty (granted, that might be the normal). Met up with one of my E's for dinner who moved there and he told me he sold his car so it would no longer be broken into (among other reasons). Ironically, my rental car got broken into last year at Fisherman's Wharf and all my personnel belongings taken (to avoid victim blaming: they were in the trunk, nothing in plain sight).
  12. While I agree with you...the biggest thing the Air Force can't control is locations. That is 100% politics at nearly the highest level. Good luck convincing any of those Senators who control the real purse strings to shut down bases in their states.
  13. The shoe clerk never left.
  14. If you are a KC-10 dude or dudette I'd say apply to the 89th, but I believe I overheard our recruiter saying their functional wasn't releasing anyone since they are undermanned.
  15. And apologies also, my response wasn't directed at you. Just an observation to the subject and theme of the article.
  16. Probably not the wisest COA in hindsight...but do people flip their shit when someone eats a Red Baron pizza at work? He can take pride in his countries military aviation pioneers and not endorse the atrocities committed by the Nazi party, IMO. If it was a bunch of SS douchebags or concentration camp guards then yea, that's a different story IMO.
  17. I'll pin on about 6 days before I separate. So much for that raise I was looking forward to. 🤣
  18. Oh fun. I’m like #52x. Wohoo. Glad I’m trusted.
  19. Is our line number just out of the respective line of the air force category or is it overall for the board?
  20. Congrats to the selects! 🍺 Condolences to those who got the shaft. 😭 I somehow managed to get pick it up right in the middle of the pack (with a "trusted officer" push). Looking forward to my $12 BAH increase. Some stats: IPZ Rated ops 77% (pilots 77.4%, navs 73.9%, ABM 81.8%), APZ Ops 9.2% (P 7.4%, N 9.8%, ABM 18.5%) IPZ Non rated ops 75.1%, APZ 16.4% IPZ Msn sup 78.1%, APZ 11.6%
  21. Russian Flanker tries to gun Ukrainian Mi-14:
  22. But the FAIP is already an "expert" (or at least knowledgeable) on that airframe. All they have to do is learn how to teach at that point. The AF is assuming a 50 hour CFI/II already has the teaching down (and maybe they do). This CAIP will have to go through basically a UPT 0.5 to get to a passing PIT level, then go to PIT, then can teach. So my gripe is why didn't this dude or dudette just join the AF to begin with? Or, better question, why didn't the AF try and commission this dude or dudette with a pilot slot? They are obviously qualified.
  23. I really can't see there being a big applicant pool for this...especially considering all the flight academies popping up with flows into the regional and then flow again into majors. And also, the super awesome locations that any 23 year old CFI would definitely love to live in all while teaching the people they just graduated with and making less money. It'll be interesting to see how this works out though.
