  1. Out of respect for Munch and his family I won't elaborate, but it was from natural causes. Great person, father, husband, leader and Weapons Officer. The world (and Air Force) is a lesser place without him in it. To Munch...

  3. Of note if you're requesting your 1405 from ARPC expect it to take 7-12 months... I'm working a case currently for a guy who submitted the request in August 2023 and still hasn't received it. Wing/CC is in at this point.

  5. To the friction with the base commanders point, apparently some old heads said that once upon a time, the base commanders were 0-5s, meaning the 0-6 Wing Commander could get his way; if the base commander is an 0-6 (think current Air Base Wings), then there will definitely be issues. I can see divorcing the current Ops Wing Kings from installation commander duties having its pros and cons. To the span of control point, the Army often has multiple Battalion commanders (0-5s), under one 0-6 Brigade Commander, anecdotally with more discipline issues than an Air Force Wing. Seems that Army Battalion commanders are trusted much more than Air Force Squadron commanders. Don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of issues with the Army but they get some things right.

  6. As a general rule, I avoid flying an airline that is based in a country where I can't drink the tap water. LATAM FO hiring requirements: Be at least 20 years old. Have a Commercial Pilot License or PCA. Have 150 flight hours or more. Have ICAO English Level 4 or higher. Have a current Medical Certificate. Have an IFR qualification. Have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months. Have a B1/B2 Visa for the United States.

  7. Cashing out what specifically? Are you trying to see how you can ride out WWIII investment wise? If so, it's a complete crapshoot. It all depends on how and if the US decides to get involved. All the markets will take a hit, but it's possible that riding it out IN the market will be just as profitable as riding it out OUTSIDE (meaning cash) the market. War is big business these days and a LOT of companies will profit. My tealeaves prediction: if Biden is president all bets are off, as nuclear war is definitely on the table due to his complete ineptitude. If Trump is president, I'll bet the US profits bigtime off this war.

  8. What’s pretty interesting is how much the left have dug their heals in on this issue the last several years. In the late 2000s, the Dems were all about calling them “legal immigrants”, and even when they switched to “undocumented” under Obama, his admin was still deporting them. Now Biden is apologizing for calling an alleged murderer, here illegally, an “illegal”, and actually trying to stop Texas from curbing illegal immigration…all during what is being called a “border crisis”. I don’t know how accurate the polling is, but from what I’ve seen, a sizable majority doesn’t seem to be with the left on this issue. Be interesting to see how this affects November, especially in non-blue states where incumbent Dem Senators are trying to hold onto their seats.

  9. Ok just so we are all on the same page here, if you meet anyone recommending warning shots just know that person has no idea what they are talking about legally. They are illegal regardless of where you do them. Anybody teaching a self defense firearms handling course etc would absolutely tell you warning shots are a good way to get arrested regardless of who started what, they exist nowhere in the escalation of force continuum for personal self defense. If some jackdoodle says otherwise, get your money back and find another class. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  10. Yesterday the House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing about the withdraw from Afghanistan. Former Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley and U.S. Central Command retired Gen. Frank McKenzie gave some very damning testimony on the Biden administration. “The fundamental mistake, the fundamental flaw was the timing of the State Department,” Milley said. “That was too slow and too late.” Too bad these clowns didn't have the cojones to resign when this was going down. Also, of the 22 liberal members of the committee, only 9 bothered to show up for the hearing. Apparently those 13 lives lost at the Abbey Gate don't matter to Democrats. Finally, it is now being reported in the open, despite "promises" from the Taliban, Al Qaeda is back in business in a BIG way in Afghanistan. Al Qaeda is now operating training camps in 10 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces. Additionally, they are operating five madrasas, a weapons depot and safe houses in Afghanistan that are used to facilitate the movement of its members to and from Iran.

  11. Yes it will be added. Lookup 1405 time. It can't help you get to 20 years active but after you make 20 years active, all those reserve days will be added for pay purposes.

  12. Not an expert but my guess is that it will not add to your 20 but when you hit age 60, it will. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  14. Really hope it works out for you Zero. I did exactly what you are doing 45 years ago when I led a 4-ship of Phantoms over Dallas for a passing F-4 driver. Can't believe we pulled it off w/#3 going missing man but had to severely limit how high he could climb. We had one radio in the plane and a guy on the ground with a portable. It was a goat-rope but oh so satisfying if you can make it work. Sorry I can't add any usable advice but wish you much luck.

  16. That’s the secret you don’t really get until later in your career…you can’t do it by yourself. And every community needs studs so don’t think because someone is flying a Viper or Tanker instead of a Raptor that they are less than.

  17. I get the curiosity, but this is the internet and you should not expect anyone who actually knows anything about these aircraft or missions to give the types of responses you’re hoping for (this also serves as a reminder to the bros out there). If you ever make it to any of these, you’ll love whichever it is and learn to appreciate the strengths of the others.

  18. Yep. Already multiple “swaps” publicly released. Several F-15 units to F-35 and EX, multiple F-16 to F-35, A-10 to F-16, additional F-35 standing up at Ft Smith, etc. Now will it all actually play out as it currently sits on paper, only time will tell. NGAD in the ANG any time in the next 15 years? Low Pk in my opinion, but we’ll see.
