  4. Both agencies were caught tipping the scales of justice(my opinion is with this options) and/or with the appearance of having done so. And both agencies didn't want that information to go public. Shocked, I tell you. Shocked.

  5. No, that pretty much sums it up but the Repubs aren't far behind with the debt thing anymore which is disappointing but I guess you have to give a little to make a deal. I enjoy a little political debate as well but a lot of liberals I talk to usually default to name calling once you make a point that isn't emotional. Republicans can come off as cold and uncaring when debating but I'm over it, that kind of sums up the difference for me though, a lot of leftist vote with their heart and righty's with their brains. I also think politics are a religion for leftist, owing to their non-belief of traditional religions, once their party loses or is voted out, they lose their Vulcan minds due to that.

  8. That's a bit much. Dude is just going with what he sees/hears a huge majority of the ARC guys doing after getting hired at the airlines. Guys openly talk about this stuff all the time and although I wouldn't want to do it, I get it. In same cases, my squadron included, these dudes are needed to fill vital spots in the squadron. The airlines have gutted many squadrons of a huge majority of their experienced guys...and it's only going to get worse. If some of our guys hadn't gone back on orders it would be nearly impossible to fill the alert schedule without outside help. I'm glad these guys are willing to jump on that sword, because have I have absolutely ZERO desire to go back full time. Even if I weren't still under my UPT ADSC, the current bonus isn't even half of what it would require for me to consider full time. Also, don't act as if any airline wouldn't hesitate to drop any one of us if they could/needed. Having run the numbers myself, if you're only going to get a part time retirement, I don't see much gain in going full time just pad your points. The $$$ I would lose by going full time, coupled with the time value of money, significantly dwarfs what little gain in (part time) retirement I would get. Obviously if you're going to be able to make it to a full time retirement, that changes everything. I'm just to far away from a full time retirement and I enjoy part time way too much.

I've just seen it screwed up enough and flown with certain folks who absolutely lack any level of mental flexibility to work outside the lines occasionally.   11. I’m 2-0 in divorces. It’s them, not me...of course. Follow these steps: Make sure she doesn’t have any access to any of your money. Don’t trust anything she says. Get a lawyer with regard to family law (www.avvo.com). Your local JAG can give you free legal advice and/or referrals to some civilians. Don’t say crazy shit on social media. If she says crazy shit on social media, make copies of it. Hit the gym. Don’t force people to “pick sides.” If you want to talk about it, talk about it, but you’ll much better off not bad mouthing her to mutual friends. We didn’t have kids, which makes it 169% easier. If you gave her the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill, you can revoke it back to you. Good luck, it’s starting over, but it’s nice.

  13. My favorite one is when I see guys move the heading bug 1 degree when flying a PAR instead of just flying the airplane. Few things get me from 0 to seeing red faster than that.

  14. Nah. They'll find that the squadron fostered a "culture of insubordination" because you can't go stepping on the some individual's freedom of speech. It's the internet...which is basically a safe zone, right? Just fire the squadron commander, promote the wing commander, and move on.

  15. It has to do with some old school mode reversion stuff that modern airliners generally don’t have a problem with. There are several good techniques for the bug. Leave it centered and you can always easily revert to it. Crossing the ocean? Turn it 45 off so you can detect an unintentional reversion or have your contingency turn set up. My OCD says center it. But that’s just my disease. It is funny when you fly with someone who wants it centered and someone who doesn’t and the slap fight ensues.

  18. I am participating in the discussion, and presenting facts to support my stances. Some people feel attacked by facts and when confronted with hypocrisy, that's not my fault. Politically speaking the military is an echo chamber. So many republicans go around making snide remarks about democrats because they think everyone in ear shot has the same views they do. I've sat quiet for many years, and now I'm to the point where I'm willing to engage with most folks on politics if they want to openly talk about it. I'm finding that the military is filled with a lot of loud and politically uninformed people. I have yet to flip someone politically, but I have found that educating people of the facts, and explaining the democratic stance at least softens their views, and makes them realize there is in fact some common ground for D, R and yes...even Libertarians to agree on. Those in charge just want to divide us, say that Democrats want open borders (not true), to turn us into socialism (not true), run up huge debt (not true) and to gut the military (again, not true). They benefit from the fact that those that listen to them aren't going to seek out the truth in their words and actions (and also that Democrats suck at unity and messaging, but we're working on it). Those that become more entrenched in their views and use their interactions with me to verify their preconceived notions of democrats weren't going to do so differently if I used flowery language. I guess I could be gentler for some of you, but it might be better for everyone if people (as the republicans say) stop being snowflakes.

  24. Well, anything else the airlines can do for you? Maybe instant upgrade to captain when you get back from mil leave too? Geez dude, I hope you don't come to my airline. This type of thinking is what has caused tons of problems for the rest of us. I'm currently on probation at my #1 choice airline and am glad I did things the way I did. I was offered an AGR flying job and the unit told me they'd work with me on the timing so I could get my seniority number first etc. I just didn't feel right about it so I took a much less desirable TR job and am so happy I did. While airline flying is much easier than mil flying, in my opinion, there is still a lot of new stuff to learn. During training I actually worked pretty hard and saw a couple of other mil dudes stumble pretty hard because they took it for granted. I've learned a ton on the line too. I don't think it's wise to leave right after training to come back to the airline environment years later that you probably aren't used to in order to face more jeopardy again. They're not going to cut you any slack either. I was tempted to take that AGR job and was tempted to go on orders recently too but I was advised by multiple bros to focus on the new job and get through probation first. I'm not a cool aid drinker for my airline but they deserve my focus and effort during probation. To get hired with the plan to go on orders a month or two later just because "you're not ready to stop flying full time in the military" is b.s. If that's how you feel then you're not ready to go to the airlines. Like others have said, your plan might be legal, but it's straight up dishonest. I can't tell you how many times it's already been emphasized to me by my airline that mil leave needs to be on the up and up because of the massive abuses they've seen. It really sucks to be the new guy and to know you're under the microscope for anything you do when it comes to mil leave due to the people ahead of you who have messed it up. Don't be THAT guy!

  25. You will end up completely finishing systems in about 2 weeks during Phase I. It goes fast. Like really fast. You won’t be expected to know boldface/ops limits until you hit Phase II (T-6 flightline) around a month into UPT. You can try to find the most up to date T-6 Boldface/Ops Limits before you get down there, but outside of that, there’s really no amount of studying that’s gonna help or get you ahead. Definitely know them cold, verbatim, commas and all by Phase II/Day 1 and make sure the rest of your class does too. It will get you out of blues and into flight suits. Once you get your pubs, you can start making your way through the contact portion of the 11-248 and keep your nose in the -1. I would also focus on the 11-2T-6 v3, especially Laughlin’s Sup to the v3. Be prepared to feel overwhelmed, but just keep taking bites out of the elephant. Focused studying is way better than just sitting down and trying to read the entirety of the mountain of pubs. Let me know if you have any questions! Best of luck!

  26. How do the different majors look at/feel about mil leave IRT timing of indoc/training? Part of me is starting to think it'd be a loss to not get the foot in the door now, but on the other hand I'm not ready to be a part timer, at least for the foreseeable future. Meaning, I don't want to go fly the line for a year, then drop orders, preferably would do it far earlier than that. Is that a pipe dream? Depend on the company? The alternative is shitcan the idea, but then I'll likely be 40-something and wishing I'd done it earlier (get a line # that is).
