  1. Negative, that’s just the strawman thrown out by Putin simps to argue that the current Russian state poses no concern at all to Eastern Europe. Riga/Tallinn ≠ Paris. Trump is right that this is a European problem and NATO has atrophied. Europe needs to contribute more and some are starting, but one major weakness of the West is the DIB. We can’t print F-35s or munitions overnight. Our DIB is slow and obsessed with high end. Boeing is a shitshow. While we try to dig out of that hole, we shouldn’t just about-face and leave our NATO partners in the dust. Trump’s approach is anti-Teddy. Instead of speaking softly and carrying a big stick, Trump runs his mouth and serves up TACOs. Maybe it will work. Regardless of his style, appeasing totalitarian heads of state has proven to be as effective as pissing into hurricane-force winds.
  2. Complete asshattery. How in the world do you say refused ILLEGAL orders is sedition?
  3. One of the better uses of AI I have seen to date. Imagining the old lady as Congress. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1DAuJ7XTnC/
  4. This is the part where Trump's infantile ego pushes him to stupidity that will cost Republicans everything. I had hoped he could at least make it to the midterms. Oh well.

From a CAF perspective, we should be 50/50 flights vs. sims…when the sims are where they need to be capes-wise (seems like a pipe dream, they haven’t been in my 20 yrs). There’s so much training nowadays that generally is not feasible in live fly (unless we’re doing it for real).

Sounds like the commentary of a boomer who is almost completely tone-def to the future of air combat. Flying hours and airmanship are important...but not nearly as important as QUALITY of the training. If those hours are spent dogfighting and other "fun" things, they are largely wasted if the pilot will be expected to manage a fleet of drone wingmen. Fly hours is the wrong metric and has been for a long time. PROFICIENCY at required tasks is far more important. Hard to track, but not impossible. I agree our young pilots need more time in the air, but not just to get in the air. Chasing proficiency will have the side effect of building airmanship if the program is built properly. Thanks for the v-necks McPeak.

Well that seems definitive! Thanks lads.
  9. Mark Kelly is a complete asshat, most recently for this bullshit video. But that said, seems like it’d be a pretty high burden on the prosecutors to prove his action did without a doubt “interfere with the loyalty, morale, or discipline of the armed forces.” How do you quantify that and what evidence may exist that is compelling enough for conviction? Seems like a low Pk win for the Trump admin and a high Pk of giving the left a great talking point of “see, they’re targeting political opponents!” In the end, I doubt many service members actually watched the video and afterwards were too stupid to understand the difference between an illegal order and an order they just don’t personally like. This whole rambling about illegal orders is completely retarded.
  10. It’ll fly until they find cracks in the wing boxes like they did the C-141 and they immediately field a replacement.
  11. keep telling yourself that. i only see one side offering peace plans.
  12. Big difference between "losing" and "losing badly," and I am very well aware of how much territory has been lost and the costs on both sides from legitimate intel sources. Putin isn't winning...

I guess I'm in the minority on this one. I rather have a WSO than second pilot in the B-21. Even in the long-range strike scenarios the bomber bros are pushing back against. Most are using the B-2 community as the blueprint for B-21 dynamics. That's a mistake (for a couple reasons). I always felt I had more in common with strike WSOs as a B-2 dude. Hell, I even called the "Mission Commander" position the "Pilot-WSO". B-2 employment was weird - at times the MC was a WSO, and at times it was a co-pilot. Further complicated by either the Pilot or MC could be the AC. I say make the B-21 community mirror the F-15E community as far as crew dynamic. I'm for the WSO in the B-21 - it'll make better pilots too. And WSOs don't need some special WSO course to AR and Land. A f-ing pilot can do that - with smart crew dynamics that "unofficially" teaches WSOs to land, AR, etc. Otherwise - Biff was right - go all in with 2x WSOs!

I know, and am friends with, several great dudes who are WSOs. They’re also smart and very capable human beings. That said, get rid of their positions in totality as aircraft advancements allow. There’s good reason we don’t have FEs on airliners anymore or navs on almost all aircraft models. There was absolutely a time and place, but those days are long gone. Stop trying to force a square peg into a round hole. They all need to accept this fact and move on… retire/get out early and transition to civ employment Shift to a different AFSC USAF reduce WSO production commensurate with current WSO-required aircraft retirements Stop trying to stupidly argue WSOs are required on new aircraft

There are certain types of ordnance that are too large for a Raptor or Fat Amy to carry internally. Also, just imagine the kinds of things a huge intercontinental stealth antenna can do when networked to fighters or unmanned assets. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
