stoker here's the problem of your logic...you think throwing more money at DC will solve the problem. wrong. these jokers will happily take more of your tax dollars and light them on fire. maybe these entitlement programs need to die a very painful death. also stop derailing my thread i'm currently torching CH and lawman and you are stealing my spotlight6 points

Here's the thing though: It doesn't matter at what level they tax you - they will always spend more than that. They're spending addicts. They need to put down the money pipe. Until they strip ALL of the waste out of the budget, raising taxes is a non-starter for much of the population.5 points

A retired hornet bro referencing Delta training, “flaring is so stupid.” From what my navy friends have said, it’s SOP to set a decent rate (700 FPM?) and ride it in, every time. It does make sense to not have two different landing procedures based on carrier vs. no carrier - guys would probably fuck up and accidentally flare at the boat and miss the wire…and then their entire career is over and they might as well kill themselves because you know, admin is more important than combat capability! #gONaVy!4 points

People who think we should pay more taxes, nothing is stopping them from paying more right now. Go ahead and pony up guys, the government will take your extra money!3 points

The KC-97 was often challenging if at Night and with reduced visibility. Had to lock out the Slats to prevent there cycling as our speed was so slow. So it was a wallow. Additionally, we would refuel in a slow descent. USAFE operations required to be Mission Ready you need 4 successful refuelings. 2 135s, Day and Night, and 2 97s. But if your first in house (USAFE) was a Night 97 and you could demonstrate abilities, then the other 3 were waived.2 points

No, we need to see cuts before anything else. Too much scar tissue from decades of unaccountable runaway federal spending; compromise is impossible unless faith is restored. Let me see actual big ticket cuts, agencies dissolved, etc. before asking for another penny in taxes. Or say “we have to raise taxes to afford funding the UKR war” and let people vote on it.1 point

Always be ground crew, flying it is HIGHLY overrated. The best part is when the flyers get there just in time for half time, sweating their asses off, and you’re 6-9 beers in already.1 point

Look what you made me do, I said I wasn’t going to argue here, but maybe us stupid people just need a leader to show us the way. Put your money where your mouth is. Pay more taxes, who knows maybe some folks will join you. It’s kind of hypocritical for you to be preaching that we all need to be taxed more, but you’re unwilling to do that out of your own benevolence, wouldn’t you say? And as for asinine arguments, you stated the at you’ve grown up enough to know Uncle Sam won’t make any sound financial decisions, so we better just keep giving him more $. I’m looking for a better word, nope…asinine works just fine.1 point

Well I'm definitely not voting for you. We absolutely do NOT need to raise taxes on working individuals (i'm open to the discussion of raising or restructuring capital gains tax). you're not wrong that entitlement spending, although problematic, is also a sacred cow and politicians are unlikely to be elected if they cut entitlement spending. but how about we cut some government agencies in half or completely before we discuss raising my already 30% taxes even higher? We really need a new headquarters for the FBI after they've proven themselves totally feckless? Does the ATF need to exist? How about the NEA? What about the park service, could we just cut the entire thing? Or here's an idea germane to this thread, what if we stopped funding unaffordable foreign wars that only make the world worse? until we start trimming some of the excessive government fat raising taxes should be off the table.1 point

I don't remember the airspeed but we did the standard tanker rejoins in the AAR track like the Phantom and had no problems staying with the tanker. I gave all my Dragonfly stuff to Huggy so he might know. All ours had the AAR equipment when we received the planes from the Guard/Reserve (that was a first) and put the O-2A's in the Boneyard. For the younger guys, in the late '70's there were massive AF DOS's as the airlines were hiring...think deregulation. But then almost overnight all the airlines began furloughing ('81) and the AF wanted us back. We could almost write our own orders...I didn't want to go back to Recce and thought the OA-37 at DMAFB would be cool. I was right and after a 4 year commitment, went back to the airlines.1 point

Either you don’t know the definition of high income earner or you’ve got some serious write offs / offshore banking going on. If it’s the latter, please share how you’re both making $200K+ each year and only paying 17% fed. We’d all like to know!1 point

Thinking around 690 nm as I flew regularly with WG/CC between DMAFB and Bergstrom (Austin) with 4 drop tanks. Never flew it in any other configuration. Carries more external fuel than internal. Flew non stop New Orleans to Honduras (see pic) but we AAR'd on the way. Huggy is going to love the plane. I felt comfortable in it after one flight. When down to internal fuel it would fly up it's own a$$hole. Closed patterns were basically Immelmanns. UPT grads were getting FAC (OA-37/OV-10) assignments with a guaranteed fighter afterwards. Guy in pic went to F-15's, retired DAL CA now. Good looking guy on the right flew RF-4C's prior. What's an IR/VR route? 🙂 Fun times back then.1 point

JANUARY SIXTH. Yes, I'm yelling it to you. How many times do I got to say it? I dunno, maybe we honor the oath of office we take, Trump included. Comparing it to BLM protests is dumb and you know that. Since you like making nice little lists, make one of all the times Trump honored the Constitution and Oath of Office. I don't know what's the bigger disappointment, that Trump went along with Jan 6th or that people think what he did was OK. PS. I got conned by The Orange Man back in 2016. Thanks for reminding me.1 point

Trump will pick a complete puppet, someone 100% controllable. RNC may propose someone that can guild/control him, but 100% he will not allow that. If he's elected, expect to see him as King Trump. As for VP, his former press sec Sanders, AR Gov, fits. Most of her actions have been to promote herself, not work for the people/state. Everyone sees it. Although she's from AR, she acts more like a carpetbagger. Her media access is on par with Biden. When watchdogs got pesky, she tried to exempt herself from FOIA. I can see the train wreck already.1 point

Yup. That was insane. You are allowed to have a gun in your house. I hope that cop spends a long time in prison. He baited that kid to a horrific death.1 point

The drastic rise in no-knock warrants (or apparently warrantless door busting in this case) is appalling. Also, a great reason to up-armor your front door. Shocking how easy it is to kick in a front door and it is relatively easy to significantly bolster most front doors. That would likely give the homeowner a minute to assess the situation a bit better. Problem is, with police acting like criminals and criminals acting like police, what would be the right thing do to? You have no idea if the guy kicking in your door is a gang-banger thug looking to rape your wife and kids or only an ATF agent looking for an excuse to discharge his duty pistol. Either way, there's a solid chance you die.1 point
