I will be very interested to see if this policy is sustainable the next few years. Almost none of the kids starting fall 2023 freshman year of college with my son are vaccinated. As colleges are rapidly dropping their mandates, the incentive for a fit 18-year-old in peak shape to take something which provides zero protection and potentially damages his heart forever just isn’t there. This policy reduces the pool of available candidates, which ultimately is detrimental to national security

I see very few people on here defending Trump, most have said they want him to go away. That being said believe whatever you want about his morale character but there has never been a time when the entire system unfairly aligned against a sitting president, not because he did something wrong but because they didn't like him. Partisan dirty politics is one thing but when the free press pushes false narratives, cheers for failure and ACTIVELY suppresses stories like the laptop then we have another situation. And when the FBI and the U.S. Intelligence apparatus acts on behalf one one political party we should all be outraged and demand change. Yes I am happy to flush Trump, but I also want to flush the crooks on the other side and you should too.

Having the original shots (or single J&J) is considered fully vaccinated. Boosters remain under EUA and are not required per DOD policy. However it gets weird when it comes to deployments, because some countries have boosters or a shot within the past 180 days as entry requirements, which turns into unenforceable job requirements. I have a lot of visibility on this in my current role; suffice to say we are turning ourselves in knots for something that is useless.

Two points of order...the policy shifts like the wind and it not being enforced uniformly. POTUS stated in an interview "the pandemic is over." That moment should have been the end of any experimental vaccine mandate, yet it continues. Nearly all religious exemptions have disapproved and thousands are still being separated including the Coast Guard rescue swimmer Biden personally called to thank him for his efforts and service. Also, civilian DAF employees have a different "policy" everyday. At Warner Robins for example DAF employees who were threatened with termination now face a different circumstance depending on which squadron they are in. In one squadron vaccinated are treated normally, face no testing and are allowed to go TDY with no restrictions. In other squadrons on the same base, unvaccinated face continued testing (despite guidance that says follow local community conditions), and recently had all TDYs not only cancelled but individuals were threatened and counseled they would be PROSECUTED for wasting government resources.

Can you define that first. To me that means some foreign entity somewhere can control him, as unproven for years now including the largest Special Prosecutor investigation ever. So what do you mean by that? For those conservatives wondering why the Trump turd can't flush, this type of bullshit is exactly why. His supporters don't have clearly defined political views, but they're tired of the sense that they've been lied to, about everything, for years. People twisting the truth or exaggerating reality regarding Donald Trump's many shortcomings makes them sense the same elitist bullshit and rally around him. He is many things, but the full weight of the US government against him was unable to prove that he is compromised. Meanwhile, the sitting president literally is by any normal definition, thanks to his nitwit son and brother. I really, really, really want Donald Trump to be gone, but everybody's going to get this man reelected if we can't rededicate ourself to objective truth, and that includes the Republican party.

In this case the Pfizer vaccine received EUA, now 19 months later they "say" it has been thoroughly tested. I have NEVER been a conspiracy theorist and I want to believe in and trust my government, but right now I simply do not. We have seen lies, obfuscation and deceit through the pandemic and I don't have any faith in Fauci and the gang. He refuses to tell us if anyone on the approval committee is receiving royalty payments from the vaccine companies but I am to believe a brand new type of vaccine (mRNA), is good to go? I am sorry there are still too many questions.

My future prediction: Assuming Biden wins the primaries and runs for a second term (yes, big assumption...but I think also a realistic COA right now) I highly doubt Biden will show up for any debates. There will be some magical reason for him to not attend, or rather, debates will get labeled whatever new buzz word that will provide the needed opportunity for the DNC to skip all debates.

Depends a lot on your need for brick and mortar/cash handling, as well as (unfortunately just recently) bill pay. I’ve used TDAmeritrade for my checking and investing mix for about 10 years. I love the investing platform (I use ThinkorSwim, but they’re tied together), they offer unlimited ATM reimbursements (seriously, used a $10 fee ATM in Vegas once and they paid me back), and they’ll send you checks/handle ACHs like any normal bank account. You can also photo deposit checks up to pretty hefty amounts and they clear pretty quick. Downsides are there are very few brick and mortar (mostly one or two locations in bigger cities), no savings account/they pay abysmal interest on cash balances (although, you can buy CDs or build a bond ladder and get higher than savings account interest), and they just killed bill pay a month or so ago with seemingly no replacement. It sucks USAA has gotten so bad, as it is about the only one stop shop with banking, investing, and insurance. There just aren’t many other solid options. But, TD offers at least two of them and have been good to me for awhile.

Somewhat related, and taking from the article at the beginning of the thread: L3Harris and Embraer seems to be a strange pair-up. Safe to say that the L3/Embraer combination is a result of the planned Boeing / Embraer partnership falling apart in the wake of Covid? As late as Nov 2019, Boeing was touting their work to jointly develop new markets for the C-390. Seems logical that, had the twin challenges of Covid and the Max not occurred, it would be the Boeing / Embraer KC-390? Assumedly taking advantage of Boeing's refueling boom technology? Curious what L3 has next up their sleeve.

This! The DOD needs to just move on from this shit. 99.9% of my base being vaxed didn't stop the multiple outbreaks we had post vaxings. In the case of the above posted article, it may have directly contributed to the death of an otherwise healthy pilot. It sounds like that unit has a quite a few pilots who are not vaxed. Doesn't seem to be impacting them all that much...

Then the pendulum swings the other way. US production can throttle back, or US govt takes the opportunity to refill the reserve and keep it full. To make more, US energy policy has to change. US oil/gas capability must increase. The swap to renewables/non-oil will take a 100 year grand strategic plan. Our govt can't even plan beyond a year.

Too bad DoD can't have an adult conversation about how the money is spent/split up. People lose their minds if you ask why we have Service Academies, two land armies (or why the Army is so big when its mission is to defend other people's border and not our own), 4 air forces, why the Army and Marines buy different tactical trucks, why we have so many camo uniforms, whether or not PME is money well spent, etc. I think DoD has plenty of money; what it lacks is the ability to prioritize (Congressional meddling throws a monkey wrench in there too). If it could, maybe the AF wouldn't be flying such old iron....

There was at the time. Even if it didn't kill you, CDC was recommending 10 days of isolation. Not to mention isolating close contacts for a week. Then there are the political considerations. Not the left-right politics... the politics of being able to move US military members into countries with full-on vaccine mandates for travelers. Sure, you could probably seek a waiver, but that's all time and effort you don't want to spend when you're scrambling to rapidly deploy assets across the globe. Do I think we could drop it now? Probably. Do I think people still refusing the vaccine over something petty like the wrong brand name are more likely to be troublemakers than people with actual sincere beliefs? Absolutely. Gonna be a moot point as this crop separates and/or retires. Current recruiting guidance is no vaccine, no enlistment/ commission. AFROTC won't even consider unvaccinated cadets for a commissioning slot. They can participate the first two years, then be on their way.
