I was at Bagram in 2011-2012 for my 13-month sentence to the MC-12 (a mess of a program that was mismanaged, with poor leadership, poor training, and a huge range of pilot abilities: incredibly shitty, to some of the best tactical minds and pilots I've ever met). Do y'all remember the Afghan guy that served ice cream in the chow hall? That guy looked like he had seen some violence, and the hatred in his eyes was intense. I always thought he would find a way to grab someone's weapon and open fire. I looked him in the eyes every time I left, if he was working. I've ram-dumped nearly all of the time I spent at Bagram. It's like a hazy dream now. What a mess.

The thing that pisses me off the most here is that while we all shit-sling about CRT, there actually is a topic that, if you taught it to every child in America, would go a long way in leveling the playing field Democrats are so convinced is systemically unfair. That topic is called Basics of Personal Finance. Proposed lesson plans include: What is interest? How can it work for me and against me? How does a loan work? How do credit cards work? How do I make a budget? How much should I save and for what? What is a retirement plan? How do I invest my money? What is appreciation and depreciation? The fact that financial literacy is not regarded as the absolute most important thing to teach in public school has always blown my mind. I had a substitute teacher play Dave Ramsey videos for a week once in 11th grade, and if I hadn't already been taught most of those concepts by my parents it would have been the most consequential week of education in my life.

If it turns out Chinese negligence is responsible for COVID-19, I’d love to see all the consequences listed above and then some levied against them. I doubt any of that is realistic though. Lots of Chinese trading partners with a lot to lose. IMO, the Chinese have already lost a lot of face and there is a significant backlash already going on regarding Chinese soft and hard power. I don’t think the Italians are nearly as keen on belt and road as they were two years ago. As unsatisfying as it is, that may be all the repercussion China faces. I suspect it’ll at least be a while until Chinese tourists are welcomed as warmly as they (and their money) were pre-pandemic.

I mean just spitballing… - immediate expulsion from both the G7 and the security council… - 5-10 trillion dollars in reparations to the world bank or some other entity… - All the concessions in literally any economic negotiation for the near future… Look if China built this thing and then F’d up or more to the point in the CCP, reviewed their options and chose to go with “deny this in the WHo so everybody goes down with me,” either way they are F’d and deservedly so. It was plausible a year ago. People just didn’t want to believe it for whatever motivations they had. There was evidence to investigate then. What then? Depends on what’s found or determined.

You really see no difference in what has been taught in our country and what crt is pushing? You weren’t taught that there was slavery? Were you not taught about Native Americans? And what discrimination weren’t you taught that you are claiming we now need taught? What warts weren’t you taught about? I may be missing the gist of your post but I would like more specifics.

People who can attest to work ethic, flying ability, teamwork ability, problem solving ability, and leadership capability. Ideal is someone at the airline you’re targeting, followed by other airlines, and those who flew with you in the mil (and even better if those things intersect). Overall, I think it matters how much that person has been in a position to actually assess those qualities above (or at least sound like they were!)

Totally with you, I was being more black/white to take as much ambiguity out as possible. To your specific point quoted above, I think you can replace Southlake, TX with an alarming amount of “insert-town, state.” Parents need to wake up and get involved.

Also what’s being taught needs to be grounded in fact or highly likely theory. Not obvious lies or even covert lies. CRT is an obvious lie and is hilarious. Because it is racist at its core and outside. Funny that advocates don’t see the lies or racism.

I guess I will both agree, and at the same time respectfully disagree slightly with your position. I do want a certain moral fiber woven into my kid’s school day, but I will also admit that it’s a very specific moral fiber that I’m referring to. And I specifically moved (for a number of reasons, including, but not limited to) from VA to TX, and the atmosphere difference was better than I could have hoped for. Citizenship, civics, civic duty and virtue, and yes, even general principles on how not to be an asshole. I’ll also concede that it’s a slippery and perilous slope should the school board take a turn for the worse while the parents are asleep at the switch. Southlake, TX, for example.

They flat out say, “yes, we are incorporating CRT into K-12 education.” And the facts back that claim up. To me it’s an apolitical topic…no type of morals/values/lens (beyond basic don’t-break-laws societal norms) belong in public education. If you want religion taught at school, send your kids to a religious private school, if you want CRT-driven curriculum, send your kids to the CRT private school, if you want kids to learn in a drum circle from a teacher named Flower send them to the hippie private school, etc. If you can’t afford those/don’t want to, then teach the values/morals you want to at home, and let the public school take care of non-politicized/agenda-driven math, science, history, and literacy. Pretty simple and apolitical concept…in theory.

I know people always look at it from the prism of working that job for 25 years, but for those who don't/won't/can't, the time delta to hold PHX can be significant between those two. I think that would favor SW.

In addition to what’s in that article, people waiting asylum/immigration hearings are no longer waiting on the other side of the border, as was the previous admins policy. They are now instead released into the country with a piece of paper for a “notice to appear”, but that piece of paper doesn’t even have a court date on it. It’s essentially a free ticket into this country now. There are reports from the border of groups willingly turning themselves in to CBP because they know they will just get their paper and be on their way. We essentially no longer have a southern border.

Mansplain: you see, Gertrude, there are some carriers that are so “ate up” that they cannot tolerate the slightest of what may appear, on the surface, to be an error. They therefore extend, on occasion, a modicum of grace to the hapless applicant in the form of what may be colloquially referred to in the lower lexicon as a fix it. You’re welcome.

At what point of war or losing our standing in the world do our airlines take a hit or go away making the jobs go away as well. I realize I sound all Red Dawn but with the level of Marxism being pushed making its way to socialism, it doesn’t seem like it’s that far off. We are complaining about the flight pay (me too) but how long will it be around? How long will good paying airline jobs be around or even earned military pensions?
