Greets all, Standard disclaimer--long time listener, first time caller... For anyone who is familiar with the rescue of Marcus Luttrell in July 2005 as part of Operation Redwings, there is a foundation that he is helping to launch next weekend that will provide a rehabilitation, rest, recovery, and reintegration facility in Texas for wounded and returning warriors-- Lone Survivor Foundation and the Lone Survivor Ranch. My involvement with that mission 5 years ago started by flying Hogs as one of two Sandy Ones that we had deployed with the 74th EFS. There's stories aplenty in that vein, but that's not the point of this post. In looking for more info about the miss…

This is a really long shot, and I apologise for the cryptic nature of it, but... Does anyone know MAC C-5 crewmembers who flew classified missions through the 1970s? Probably part of a unit whose mission included supporting AFSC and CIA. I would imagine it was a tight-knit community, but I don't know anyone who was part of it. Specifically, I am looking to speak to a crew who flew into Egypt on 21 Sept 1977. TIA

Hey there folks, I am one of the earliest members of BaseOps, I think I was member number like 70 something back in 2002 , when we had the old format, hoping to find some of old friends like MajorM2, Bishop, etc... Got deployed, got into flight school etc, I lost touch with most and now realized my account got deleted due to inactivity ... So drop me a note if you remember me, I am going to try to be more active here now that I am an officer too :) Happy 4th of July...

My wife has a job opportunity that is too good to pass up back in the city we moved to our current base from. I posed the Tricare question to my local office and they were, let's just say, less than convincing they knew much about the benefits. My wife and I have no children. Does anyone have experience with Tricare when your spouse lives 2000 miles away from you? Are there any "gotcha's" with her coverage since she wouldn't reside with me? I plan to relocate back to said city when my ADSC expires in 18 months (hoping for the Reserves).

ON A MAD HUNT FOR SOME 20MM PGU-27 SHELLS. Does anybody have any or know where to find some? It is for a gift for a pilot. Thanks to someone else's idea... I want to cut the shells down to be used as shot glasses. Can anyone point me in the right direction... P.S. If so, please talk in civilian language.

A while back, I seem to recall reading a "noise complaint" letter from a guy who lived under a low-level route. The basic premise was "you guys aren't training right--you need to be lower and faster!" Anyone know the letter I'm talking about? If so, can you post it or direct me to it? Apparently my search skills are not as good as I thought. Thanks.

I have recently been considering joining the Air Force Reserve. Military service has been attractive to me for a long time, but I am only now giving it serious thought. Previously, I was very focused on a civilian career. For background, I am 28 years old and in the first year of law school, which is a three year program. I have an undergraduate degree in electrical and computer engineering. I intend to finish law school, and I will be 30 years old when I do. I am married with three children under the age of 5. I intend to have a civilian career at a large firm (not interested in JAG), during which I should be well-situated financially. I am motivated by a stron…

Hi guys. I'm one of the regional pilots who joined here when we had our poser become national news. Please forgive me if I'm asking a dumb question. Last week I was in my local library and picked out a book on the first Schweinfurt raid in 1943. As I was reading it, I remembered that my grandmother had once mentioned that she lost a cousin on a mission to Schweinfurt. This book has a detailed but incomplete list of casualties and my relative is not mentioned there. Of course, he could have been killed on a later mission. So. I've been wondering if anyone knows of an office anywhere in the Air Force or Army that might be able to tell me something about this guy…

Good thing I decided to check my email this quarter, haha. Anyone else get something similar? They are rectifying records over 7 years old, really????? Like someone would falsify an AAD? YGBSM. Anyway, just posting to check your records so you get credit for the "hard" work you put in to get your degree. ------------------ Sir, Our office is currently reviewing records for officers. This is a notification that your official transcripts were never received after the degree award date from TUI University. This degree was originally updated via a temp update, based on a letter from the registrar, which you would have requested dated 29 …

All this talk about Delta, United, AA, Southwest just makes me sick. Where is the love for the other major airlines? FRONTIER anyone? SPIRIT anyone? It's like they don't exist to you people.

Here are a couple low fly complaint messages that were forwarded to me from the wing PAO. I called the guy back after I finally stopped laughing. He's a good guy that really does have some legit PTSD issues. There's a third one where you can hear the jets flying by while he's on the phone. I'll try to find that one. FWIW, we actually do try to avoid this guy's house. Low Fly Complaint Second Call

Gents- I'm putting together a T-45 low level CCX in a couple of weeks- thinking about heading to Denver. Does anyone have an experience with the VR/IR routes around there? Are any of them any good or is there somewhere else I should look? I wish I could get up to Whidbey and fly the 1355, but I don't think I have enough legs to get up there. And I want to stay away from southern AZ and CA because everyone goes there and I want to do something different. Thanks for the help!

Nope, I'm not asking about sex-parties at Little Rock... Just wondering if anybody had further info on a rumor: Apparently, there was a recent incident, resulting in significant aircraft damage, for which I hear one of our previous students was responsible. The individual just barely passed here at Corpus. Wanted to fish for more info ("unnofficial" can sometimes be the best) before I bring it up in a meeting. [ 28. LtGen AP Clark, instrumental in the Stalag Luft III breakout that inspired The Great Escape, and former Supt of USAFA, has died at age 96. He helped set up the POW archive at the USAFA library, and used to speak to cadets in History 330 pretty regularly. A Supt who Steve McQueen tried to be like. Here's a toast.
