Howdy, Ex-135 driver no longer on active duty. Can anyone steer me towards the proper reg/inst/pub that defines what qualifies as a remote assignment? Rumor says Laughlin was considered a remote many many years ago, then a new "front gate" was built and the base just squeaked under the mileage limit. No huge issue on this just curious. So I was on a xc the other day, and the direct route of my flight put me through an MOA. While enroute, I was notified by center that the MOA was active with two aircraft(turned out to be 2 B-1's). So I said copy that, we'll keep an eye out. For me to avoid this MOA it would have been about a 20-25 minute detour to the west or a 15 minute detour around a restricted area to the east, so I figure what the hell, these planes are the sh!t and I'm sure the pilots are profficient enough not to care about a littel POS 172 passing through(perfectly legal) So I decide to keep flying through with eyes open. As an officer, do administrative disciplines affect the type of discharge you receive if you have good conduct until you retire/separate? For example, if you have 10 years of good service and get an article 15, then have 10 more years of good service, can you expect an honorable discharge?

I was reading about some of the Thud pilots in Vietnam having specialized "party suits" and wondered where they all went? I saw this post but I have not really seen any pilot wear one. Has the PC-Shoe influence caused the party suits to fall by the wayside? Seems like it would be a good way to show that bit of rebellion in the AOR while still maintaining that "professional" appearance.

As a former FE in the AF as well as civilian life I never had the pleasure of flying an aircraft with wings the size of credit cards so this video was very informative. I never realized that the T-38 was a category E approach aircraft but it should have been obvious since the wings are essentially scaled down from an F-104. So, the new BAH rates for 2011 came out (STS) today. I'm moving to Clovis in a few months and guess what, the BAH for my paygrade dropped by $70 from CY10-CY11. The strange thing about that is house prices in Clovis have skyrocketed since the AFSOC takeover (almost double vs a few years ago in Clovis). So a similar house in Clovis to the one I'm in will cost $500 more per month than the one I'm currently in and I'm going to lose $300 per month in BAH. :bash:

Anybody catch that show on the History Channel the other night? Pretty interesting stuff. Most of it speculation I'm sure, but cool nonetheless. Is the B-1R something that is actually being considered? Cool concept, liked the V-tail it had. I had heard they were possibly going to re-engine the BONEer with Raptor engines, but I didn't know they were going to make it an AMRAM truck. Screw the BONE, lets put a bunch of 120s on the BUFF!

Anyone else getting constantly bitched at about it? Saw some slides today from AMC and it looked like the C-17 bubbas were landing with 20K+ regularly

What does it take to become an AF instructor pilot? Do you go to instructor training directly after UPT or do you have to complete some time in a different airplane first? Also, what does it take to be a test pilot? I've already got the Aerospace Engineering degree.
