An F-15 suffered at mishap at MidAmerica airport near St. Louis, in which one of two aircrew ejected from the jet, according to local news outlets and Boeing. It’s not clear if both pilots attempted to eject, but local news station KMOV4 reported one pilot refused treatment while the other was taken to the hospital “with minor injuries.” Images of the aircraft show it without national markings and in the Qatari configuration and paint scheme. It appears to be sitting on its landing gea with the canopy missing... https://www.airforcemag.com/f-15-accident-in-st-louis/

With no bags and no AR, how long can the eagle and viper stay up, sts? For instance...the single-ship demo guys and T-birds. How much gas do they have left after the routine?

Just a quick question: Without going into classified information, at any given equivalent air-to-air configuration, would I be right to assume that an F-15C can outturn an F-16D at a given low speed and altitude? According to the USAF Fact Sheets (lol), The Eagle allegedly has a higher thrust-to-weight ratio 1.12/1.30 compared to the Block 30 Viper's .0898/1.012 (depending on powerplant) and lower wingloading (only 83%) than the Viper (Block 30, at least). I assume these figures are for an equivalent configuration, and I'm assuming they're not skewed. So if someone with some aeronautical knowledge could tell me if higher t/w and lower wingloading necessarily tra…

From BBC: 1011: More on the US warplane that crashed late on Monday in Libya. It is understood that the pilot was taken by rebels and is safe, the Telegraph says. So far there have been no independent confirmation of this report. 0959: The Telegraph now says that the crashed US warplane is an F-15E Eagle Not entirely true. More info on the high side for those at work.

I'm sure most everyone's heard the tape of the 16 guy in europe who crapped himself inflight. At the end of the tape he says to the pilot something like "burner and boards, talk to frankfurt first." I know what burners (ab) and boards (spd brk) are, but what does he mean using them both together? Thanks!

  13. From the Arizona Republic online..... A complaint post from a moron, and the reply: Complaint: Quote: A wake-up call from Luke's jets Jun. 23, 2005 12:00 AM "Question of the day for Luke Air Force Base: Whom do we thank for the morning air show? Last Wednesday, at precisely 9:11 a.m., a tight formation of four F-16 jets made a low pass over Arrowhead Mall, continuing west over Bell Road at approximately 500 feet. Imagine our good fortune! Do the Tom Cruise-wannabes feel we need this wake-up call, or were they trying to impress the cashiers at Mervyns' early-bird special? Any response would be appreciated." The reply is classic, and a testament …

  24. Who has the skinny on the F-16 RTU students who never flew in Phase III at SUPT and just did sims? I hear there are 2 at Kelly, certainly we have a UPT or Kelly instructor on here to verify. There is more to the rumor but it’s hard to believe. It certainly would increase production quickly.

For the F-15 A/C I have read that the wing loading is lower than the F-16 under most circumstances. I have also read that the F-15 has a higher thrust-to-weight ratio under most circumstances. The body and control surfaces of an F-15 are larger, allowing airflow to be diverted for a higher turn rate. The overall surface of the bottom of the F-15 should allow it to fly at slower speeds, and the higher thrust to-weight ratio should allow a lower loss of altitude during a turn-battle in a dog-fight. How is it that I have read about and seen videos of F-16s winning dog fights against F-15s? Obviously don't violate OPSEC.
