Here's the deal, after ten years of civilian life, I've decided that it's time to serve again. (I did nine years on active duty.) I've talked to a reserve unit, and will soon schedule a physical to get the ball rolling. In the mean time, I was wondering if there's anybody out there who can help me with some questions concerning the viability of my choice, and what other options might be available to me with other units or career fields. Anybody with any AWAC background or insights would be especially appreciated. Posted by WildBill in thread Roth IRA WildBill, This is by far the best research tool that I have found on the ol' internet about the subject. https://www.savingforcollege.com/ I recommend using USAA, but sometimes, you can find better % rates (mere fractions) if you shop around. If you do bank with USAA, there is an easy step by step process... I also recommend hitting up the grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc...you could easily ask for a $10-20 a month donation into the account. We also encourage the relatives that if they want to give money as a present, they give 50% of what they were going to send in cash, the other in a donation. I'm sure you can…

Looks like the Navy is going to get some attention like the Air Force did a few years ago. These things are never good for anyone involved. https://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2339317

  8. Jerusalem (CNN) -- The Israeli Air Force shot down an unidentified flying object over the Dimona nuclear plant in the Negev Desert Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces said. The object appeared in a designated no-fly zone, the air force was scrambled and the object was shot down, the IDF said. The object could have been a party balloon, the IDF said, but forces have not yet found the debris to determine what it was. There have been unconfirmed media reports that it was a motor-driven object. The air force reacted according to procedure when the object was spotted, the IDF said. The Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz reported that last October "IDF warplanes interc…

Alright, after a lot of thought on the issue I am seriously thinking about going Marines. I am currently in AFROTC a contracted cadet, not on scholarship, Feild Training complete. Before the start of AFROTC I was interested in the Marines, but then thought I would go talk to AFROTC to explore all options. I ultimately decided to go AF. Now I feel that there are a multitude of reasons on why I feel that the Marines would be best for me. So to get to the point, here is my main concern: If I am released from my ROTC contract does this prevent me from serving in any other military branch? For example the Marine Corps? If so what would be the best way to approach…

  14. Hopefully, the Russians (long ago) removed all them nuke artillery projectiles/nuke warheads/etc that were stored at this site - back in the day. There's a potential for a wee bit of fallout from this accident if these nuke assets are still stored at this site and they were involved/damaged/consumed by the conventional explosions/fires/etc. Note; Once upon a time - this particular "Nuclear Weapon Storage Site was probably on our ICBM/Nuke Bomber hit list":<)

I realize that the number of T-38 spots depends on what the AF sends down the pipline, and there are no guarantees, but what about this situation? A student shows the work ethic, drive, and good attitude to make it through 38's, but there were only 1 or 2 38's dropped in the class. Are the IP's able to get him in a 38 one way or another (assuming he finishes high enough in the class where he would get a 38 in an average drop)? Could they send him through 38's with the following class or trade with another base (although I guess most other classes/bases would not want to give up a 38 spot). How often does this happen? Thanks PG

I am the operations manager for Montrose Regional Airport Colorado (MTJ); I last posted seeking static display aircraft for our annual open house in September and appreciate the help I recieved from the Baseops forum. One of the requirements needed for AETC aircraft participation was an AETC Non-Towered Operating Agreement and contract fuel. In an effort to increase military training activity and to prepare for next years open house I am seeking guidance as to how to obtain an operating agreement? Having had an operating agreement at a prior airport I know Montrose Regional meets the requirements for the agreement and I feel our airport would be a great new cross-count…

We are open to suggestions on topics and ideas so drop me an email with your suggestions. Maybe its something other military helo aviators can learn from or you want to write about some technical subject, the options are open. We are happy for you to…

I believe the appropriate radio call would be: "Tower, Key Lime Air, ....whoops" DENVER, Colorado (AP) -- A Frontier Airlines jet attempting to land Friday at Denver International Airport came within 50 feet of a smaller charter plane that had inadvertently entered the runway, federal aviation officials said. The Frontier crew spotted the Key Lime Air plane in time, aborted the landing and continued flying until it could land the jetliner a short time later, authorities said. No injuries were reported. Frontier and Key Lime officials declined to comment. Neither the airlines nor the investigators would say how many passengers were on the two planes. The Nation…
