While luvvy actors and the liberal elite give each other a pat on the back for being so wonderful (i'm talking about Oscar nominations, if that's not clear), this video reminded me of the people who really make the world go round.

I had the honor of meeting GEN Shalikashvili back when he was the Chairman and I was a young captain. I was in Slovakia at the time on a military liaison team, and he and Madeline Albright rolled into town. We helped the embassy with the arrangements, so we were at the location where he was meeting the Slovak military leaders. He saw us from across the room, and made his whole entourage take a detour so he could walk over and meet the team. He was very friendly, and made time for us to take photos with him. Actually, we all got two pics each with him, as he made an excuse for the second picture with each individual but we realized he did that just in case the first p…

Hey folks, I just graduated with a B.S. and have lately been thinking about enlisting in order to try out for a pararescue slot. However, it seems that everyone I talk to discourages me from enlisting and urges me to seek a commission. This includes a former Navy officer as well as a retired AF colonel who flew F-111's. I have visited the specialtactics.com message boards (CCT/PJ's "Baseops.net") and have considered the advice given by those guys, however, I was also wanting to hear about the benefits/drawbacks from some current officers (any enlisted folks feel free to share as well). I know that officers get paid significantly more, and that they get more leade…

  11. Starting a new topic because I couldn’t find any relevant information. Does anyone have gouge on what a deployed mobility planner/shift leader will do in Kuwait? Will I work within an Army unit? It’s a 6-monther for a 11M. How will this impact my career as an MWS IP?

So, I just found out that I am going to the 23 BS up at Minot. What was your favorite thing about it? What was your spouse's favorite thing about it? And no, I'm not suicidal. After getting over the shock, I am excited about it. I had to shift my thinking about my immediate future, but flexablility is the key right?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-47323045 Good video. Thousands of people cheered a flypast honouring 10 airmen who died when their plane crashed in a park 75 years ago. The US bomber came down in Endcliffe Park, Sheffield on 22 February 1944, killing everyone on board. A campaign for a flypast started after a chance meeting between BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker and Tony Foulds, who tends a park memorial. A tearful Mr Foulds was given a rousing round of applause as the planes flew over. He said: "This is unbelievable." Relatives of the aircrew and thousands of people from across Britain paid their respects as the planes roared over the memori…

I am surprised that this hasn't come up on here yet. Kosovo has declared it's freedom from Serbia. Russia has denounced the action and the US is calling for calm in the region and there are still 16,000 peacekeepers in-country. Lockheed Says F-35 Could Fly Pilotless Pentagon Demand for Drones Grows By Renae Merle Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, August 16, 2006; D01 Lockheed Martin Corp. has proposed an unmanned version of its Joint Strike Fighter, the F-35, which would make it the first full-scale fighter to operate without a pilot and signal the Bethesda weapons maker's push into the growing market for drone aircraft. The idea has been in the works for two years, Lockheed Vice President Frank Mauro said at a briefing yesterday. He provided few details but said the plane could be built as an interchangeable hybrid -- manned by a pilot for some missions and operated remotely f…

I recently got assigned KC-10's to Travis, and will be moving there (I assume) within the next month or so. I was wondering if anyone that is based there could give me information on where to live, and where NOT to live. I recently saw that ghetto video about Fairfield, CA and figured I'd post this. I am not looking to buy at the moment, just rent (apartment, condo, house, townhouse, etc). My girlfriend works in advertising out of Atlanta right now, and is currently searching for jobs out west. I am also wondering, which of the cities would have more job opportunities for her, and are really awesome cities to live in (San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, etc). Thank…
