Squadron Bar
Off-topic discussion. Keep it civil, don't abuse this forum.
1 – Keep it civil
If you don't have anything constructive to say, keep your mouth shut. Opinions are great, constructive criticism is encouraged, third grade retorts are right out. Threads that devolve into pissing contents will be locked. If your post starts to drag a thread in that direction, it will be removed. If you continue to instigate, you may face suspension of your posting abilities.
2 - Listen before you speak
A wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you ought to listen twice as much as you talk."
Fighter squadrons have a rule that you can’t speak until you’ve had been there a year, and there's some wisdom to this; don't just show up here spouting your wisdom to dudes who are not only veterans to this board, but veterans to the Air Force. Hang out a while, read the posts, and be a fly on the wall. You'll see who's legit and who is generally clueless. This will prevent you from a severe case in foot-in-mouth-itis when you try to tell a combat proven pilot that he knows nothing while you sit at home waiting to see if your UPT package has been approved.
3 – UTFSF
Before you ask a dumb question, make sure it hasn’t been asked and answered – use the search function at the top right of each page.
4 - If it's been talked about before, keep it in the same thread.
After you follow Rule 3 but don't find exactly what you're looking for, revive one of the old threads instead of starting a brand new one. In other words, if you're trying to find information on housing at Del Rio and you find lots of old posts with Del Rio info, but nothing specifically answers your question - post your question at the end of one of those threads. This makes it easier for future searches so that 690 threads don't pop up when they try to search for "Del Rio Housing"
5 - Give it a subject line that makes sense
This seems anal, but there are several reasons. (1) If you have a nebulous subject like "Serious question" you're potentially not going to get answers from as many people as if your subject line was "Where to find Jeremiah Weed?" (2) It makes it easier for serious searches; the poor sap who types "SERE" into the search function will have a much easier time with specific subjects like "What do I bring to SERE?" vice just "SERE".
6 – No unpaid advertisements
Unpaid advertisements and promotion of outside websites are not allowed. Individual items are allowed to be sold in the “Market Place” forum within in accordance with the rules of that forum. For questions on paid advertising on this board, use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of each page.

Hey folks. I am a regular poster on here, but I am hiding my identity (though the moderators could figure it out...please dont!) to keep those who would seek to get dirt on me from doing it! Oh ya, they are out there. Anyway, long story short, I am exploring a run for Congress...I am a guard pilot and can actually do that! I wanted to tell you all, that if I am elected (its a 2010 race) I fully plan to sit down with the CSAF and discuss much of what we have talked about here...as a Congressman. Its still a ways off, but just wanted to let you all know that. Im not your typical politician...though inheriting 50% of the country as an enemy isnt my idea of awesom…

I don't know if anyone else has seen these, but they are incredible. They were taken mostly in 1942, before the days of auto focus and built in light meters, by a very talented photog . The quality of the Kodachrome transparencies is so good that it's hard to believe these images are almost 70 years old. Here's the Gallery And here's a couple of tasters:

The biz jet community and the car makers especially are getting beat up pretty good about their use of corporate jets. Maybe if you are getting Gov't money, you shouldn't be using too many jets. However, Congress needs to take a close look at themselves. More than one person in the civilian chain has no problem requesting VIP acft to transport themselves around.

For the last couple years I've been a disciple of Maker's and all of its greatness. When doing a little research today I found that Maker's produces a 101 proof Bourbon and packages it in a gold-tipped bottle. Supposedly they still make it but it is no longer sold in the US, but can be found in Japan. So has anyone seen this stuff anywhere and more importantly, how much would it cost for you to ship me a bottle or two?

So I walk into a chow hall today to grab some lunch and during checkout lady tells me - "Since you're here on TDY, you can't eat lunch here anymore...but breakfast and dinner is OK." What the gayness is this? This chow hall gets 5 people max in a hour and now they're going to turn down a cash paying costumer..... Did anyone experience this silliness before? I'm at Maxwell right now....

I didn't bother searching the forum before making this thread because I'm pretty positive it hasn't been discussed on here before. Here is a hypothetical for the forum. Lets say you were bored and happened to be browsing an adult website or two in your spare time and came across(sts) a picture that was of a friend of yours. And in this picture your friend is wearing her cheerleading outfit from college and the picture is clearly lifted from an Athletic Association archive or something similar. Sadly said picture does not link to any actual videos or images of the person in question but that is no surprise because, in theory, knowing this girl you would know that such…

A very crusty old fighter pilot recently sent me an email in which he espoused the use of several of the "eight great lies". The five were: 1) "I'll respect you in the morning" 2) "I'll only put the head in" 3) "I promise I won't come in your mouth" 4) "Parts plus two hours" 5) "I'm not the regular crew chief" So, who can say what the missing three are? And do you have any of your own to contribute? I had heard "the cheque's in the post" was one, but I can't be sure... Ideas?

Bartender, a round of beers on me! Hello all, wanted to post an intro and the bar seemed like a good place to start! I was a member here before, but I can't find my old account info. I am CH 47 pilot currently deployed to the Iraqi Theater. I used to be in the Air Force as an enlisted man, and I crossed over to fly as a warrant. Thanks for having me, and bottoms up! (Man I do miss my beer...)

I originally posted this as a response to the New Weapon School Patch thread, but moved it so as to not draw too much from that discussion. I absolutely wish I was joking about this.

Anyone got a good place to buy cheap custom stickers? I am going through T-6 PIT and want to buy like 100 or so stickers with the ADI attitude fail image on them. I know someone made it a class patch back in '04 but I want to just make a small say 3" by 3" sticker with the image so i can hand it out to studs when I think their attitude sucks. thanks bb

From Fox News.com The Obama administration has asked the military's Joint Chiefs of Staff to cut the Pentagon's budget request for the fiscal year 2010 by more than 10 percent -- about $55 billion -- a senior U.S. defense official tells FOX News. Last year's defense budget was $512 billion. Service chiefs and planners will be spending the weekend "burning the midnight oil" looking at ways to cut the budget -- looking especially at weapons programs, the defense official said. Some overall budget figures are expected to be announced Monday. Obama met Friday at the White House with a small group of military advisers, including Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the…

Military to Pledge Oath To Obama, Not Constitution Conservative News and Reporting "News for the Rest of Us" Michele Chang Secretary of Defense Robert Gates is extremely frustrated with orders that the White House is contemplating. According to sources at the Pentagon, including all branches of the armed forces, the Obama Administration may break with a centuries-old tradition. A spokesman for General James Cartwright, the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, states that the Obama Administration wants to have soldiers and officers pledge a loyalty oath directly to the office of the President, and no longer to the Constitution. "The oath to the Const…
