  2. Hi, Employment after active duty can be both challenging and rewarding. Many veterans face the transition of adapting military skills to civilian careers, but those same skills—discipline, leadership, teamwork, and resilience—make them highly valuable to employers. Career programs, mentorship, and specialized training can ease this shift, helping veterans find roles that suit their expertise. Employers should recognize the strengths veterans bring, while veterans should explore industries aligned with their interests. With proper support, this transition can lead to meaningful opportunities.
  3. I was notified that my package was received and will meet the board in September. The program managers I’m assuming reached out to all wing execs telling them whose packages were received in anticipation of wing execs sending word down the chain. That’s not how I found out how mine was received but then again, those who applied from my wing don’t even know where they stratted.
  4. Ahh Florida. I think I mentioned this in the past. Family member some years back was accused by crazy and now very ex-wife of DV in an attempt to get a leg up in the divorce. 3 deputies show up while he's taking out the trash and detain him along with an order to remove all his firearms and ammunition. Took 6 months and a lot of time and money to get them back though no ammunition. I think he finally paid the last of his substantial alimony earlier this year. Guilty till proven innocent.
  5. Yeah I did, and also had my letter of rec from a retired O-6 that I did all of my flight training with (probs a big misstep since they want to see someone from your chain of command to vouch for leadership). I will say that FY23 was pretty competitive with only 69 pilot slots. I wouldn’t be discouraged either way, if the rumors end up being true and we have solid numbers I think we all have a good shot at getting picked up.
  6. Did you have PPL and those scores when you applied for FY23? I'm a young LT with pretty much the same scores as my only qualifications but no experience--trying to gauge my chances
  7. Hey everyone, been reading yall post for motivation while applying for the FY26 boards and hoping we all see some success. Wanted to know, did anyone receive their receipt of submission from the UFT board team? It’s been 7 days so I’m not sure if it’s just me or it’s a common thing. Thanks in advance
  8. MP, Refer to the TBI section (linked from the table of contents). Waivers are plentiful with many caveats on severity, timing, etc of TBI. Peruse at your pleasure. Air Force Waiver Guide Compendium.pdf
  9. ART's used to get a second CAC (not sure if that's still a thing) and they would leave it in the computer and go home. Genius.
  10. It’s waiverable, but no idea on the chances of that happening. Probability of success will likely be linked to how bad the AF needs pilots (my guess is not bad enough to regularly waive TBI). Hopefully a flight doc can chime in with better info.
  11. Another gem. Dude is deaf, the police KNOW he is deaf but beat the F@ck out of him for "not listening." They mock him and his hearing aides, then charge him with resisting with violence. He bails out immediately which angers the cops so the add another charge of assault on a police officer which revokes his bail. Dude spends 58 days in jail with no bond.
  12. Typing in all caps should immediately disqualify you from all public office.

  15. Yesterday
  16. Years ago, ended up at Shaw to build an A/OA-10 squadron with 17-ish Lt.s converting from the OV-10. These guys are fired up, fangs out, and ready to learn. Friday night at the club and Lt. Gen Horner, 9AF/CC, shows up with his entourage of flunkies and hangers-on and they sit at a giant round table in the corner of the bar. I noticed Horner had his hat hanging dangerously halfway out of his leg pocket. I grabbed one of the young lieutenants by the collar, pointed at Horners hat, and told him his mission was to put that hat on the bar. He throws himself on the floor and commences to low crawl towards the 3 star and remains unobserved as he picks the hat from the pocket. He successfully egresses with the hat then heads to bar depositing the hat and ringing the bell. An announcement is made asking "Is there any 3 star missing their hat? Please see the bartender.". Horner sends a minion thus scoring negative points with those in attendance. I'll add the Gen. Fogleman had his hat polyurethaned in the A-10 squadron bar at Osan and would show up on Friday night to buy a round.
  17. I mean, it is CA after all. To them, it’s a feature, not a big.
  18. Hey man, sorry for the late reply. A buddy of mine that applied to the 112th FS board told me that interview invites have already been sent out, so if you haven't heard anything yet it's probably no dice this time around. Keep your head up and keep applying! I'm 15 months and 18 applications deep into this process and have only recently started getting traction with squadrons. DM me if you ever wanna talk about anything and good luck!
  19. In applying for my FAA medical certification I found out that the TBI accident I had as an 8 year old would come back to haunt me (shocking, I know). I had internal bleeding from falling off my bike, and 1 seizure on the way to the hospital, but the bleeding stopped within 24 hrs and I made a full recover within a few weeks. No meds, no PT, no surgeries, nothing. Now, I got a letter from the FAA asking for an EEG, MRI, neuropsych eval, etc. - the whole nine yards - and after an initial neurology visit the neurologist believes there aren't any left over effects and that this should just be about crossing I's and dotting T's. On the military side, I've completed MEPS en route to enlist and had my TBI waiver approved, but that alone bars be from any maintainer positions which I was bummed about. Given this, do you think the accident could bar me from flying as a fighter pilot in the future? If I did ever get to the FC1, I could provide them with all the same material that the FAA is asking for, and I understand they're completely different animals, but was wondering if this is something I could realistically get past
  20. Yep, saw that one which made me realize it hadn't gone to CA Supreme Court, just the appellate. Again, I goofed. As did this CA court.
  21. Definitely agree it comes down to framing and how the board perceives the info. I made a lot of mistakes on my first application when it came to LOR and what I thought the board cared about. Glad I was able to get feedback for this go around. Thanks! It was definitely the focus for me after they gave very pointed feedback. Made writing the personal letter a ton easier, just reflecting on taking feedback/coming back stronger and more determined. There's almost always something you can say could be better, but as long as you're happy with how you presented yourself in your application, that's all that really matters!
  22. That's a good attitude to have! Hard to not get in the head, but lord knows I'm stoked for some College Gameday!
  23. Yeah constantly looking at your package is going to drive you crazy. I recommend just downloading the countdown app and setting it for like November 14th. That’s my estimation when results will be released and having that be a date to look forward to and then just focusing on continuing to grow where you are now. Football is about to start, then we have thanksgiving. Join a fantasy league and have fun with that. Just do something else except open your package. What’s there is there and you can’t change it. The board is 4 weeks away. Can you find something cool to do for 4 weeks lol. I’m taking my multi engine check ride this week. I take the family to Hawaii in a week and a half, then October will be here before you know it. Then it’s at least 45 days until we all know once October hits. What is submitted is submitted. I got confirmation that my package is board ready and will meet the board in September. Other than that, there’s nothing else I can do.
  24. Here is a good synopsis.

  26. If you're still in the 6s...no huge rate drops yet but slightly moving down. Every loan is a little different (credit score, property location, loan amount, VA disability or not and what the market is doing), but I'm knocking out no cost streamline refi's for people as the numbers support it. Here is a one pager and example of one closing this week for anyone interested. So everyone understand it we pay for all the third party costs so for them it was $4,717 so it's completely free of a breakeven. That is the total of section B+C+E on page 2. They were only responsible for prepaid interest for the amount of days in left in the month from when they close because they skip their 1 Sept payment which still nets them ahead. You can see their new loan amount is basically identical to the payoff of their old loan (page 1 loan amount vs page 3 payoff). All they did was finance in the prepaid interest but they could have paid that in cash if they’d prefer. They waived having an escrow account (not required with us) but one can be created if they had wanted one. If so then the current escrow balance gets refunded in cash if they have one too. No tricks or scams. We're in the business of originating as many loans as we can especially for prior clients because relationships matter as a word of mouth business and we build a lot of goodwill doing these. I can then rinse and repeat this for them as rates go down more in the future. If you'd prefer not to restart at 30yrs (most people do) I can keep the same payment but shorten then loan duration down (prob shave 3-4yrs off or so). Hit me up if you're interested or want to get on my radar for future market dips. Jon 850-377-1114 https://tridenthomeloans.com/irrrl/ No Cost IRRRL.pdf No cost IRRRL Example.pdf
  27. Ugh, never mind. Mis-read your title as "California Supreme Court" telling SCOTUS to pound sand. Totally stupid on my part. However, reading the legal synopsis at my link was interesting. Source, please? Only thing I could find is a California Appeals Court, dated July 29, 2025, saying "yeah, but..." to the 2024 SCOTUS decision. Moving from appellate to state supreme court in less than a month is pretty high-speed.
