The Iran thread
Or it could be this: Edit: Not directly related to Gaza but also in 2024, Israel remotely detonated thousands of pagers/walkie talkies which I will admit was a badass logistical and tradecraft achievement. But when you remotely blow up thousands of PED’d with no possible way of knowing where they all are/who’s around at the time the side effect is obvious. They maimed dozens of children and killed a few, and hurt/killed dozens of unrelated adults as well. I think this pretty well sums up the IDF’s level of collateral damage concern. But zooming out back to the Iran conflict I think this discussion has kinda circled back on itself. Some here like myself are trying to evaluate the actions of the US/Israel/Iran/Hamas from a neutral observer perspective to try to figure out what’s actually going on and if any of this is a good idea. Others view it as a pure good guys vs bad guys dynamic. Everything the US/Israel do is a justified response to past transgressions by the bad guys. Everything Iran/Hamas do happened in a vacuum with no historical context or justification, because they’re the bad guys and that’s just how they are. There’s not much that can be said to bridge the gap between these two viewpoints, but I have no doubt we will keep trying.

Well you're on a roll. "Championing." They're dead because their parents love Islam more than they love their children. They're dead because the leadership in Gaza, that's Hamas, has created an environment so unfathomably miserable by spending every penny the world has given them on tunnels and rockets and guns instead of food and shelter, that the idea of Islamic Paradise is more appealing than the idea of survival. They're dead because the overwhelming majority of Palestinian sentiment was elated by the rape and murder of other innocent children who have a different religion than theirs. They're dead because boys between the age of 12 and 17 were disproportionately likely to be holding an AK-47 when their life was ended by an Israeli strike. Show me one Israeli parade over those dead Palestinian children. Just one. Send me the recording of one Israeli man calling his parents in orgasmic elation because he had just murdered a Palestinian family. I don't think you're evil. I think you're highly emotional, and not intelligent enough to filter out the incredible deluge of propaganda and lies that you are exposed to. Unfortunately, they need you to think that I'm evil. Because if you were able to think clearly for more than 4 seconds, you would see the insanity of the things that you're posting here. You would stop and consider how the things you're suggesting have no historical precedent, and no basis in reality whatsoever. You would see that you're asking other people to accept the death of their innocent children in order to protect the innocent children of others who wish them nothing but annihilation.

The Failed Liberal State of California
So you're completely oblivious to the photograph of the dude shitting in the streets in California? Simply Google "pictures of people defecating in the streets of California" and you'll get a near endless list of photos of it happening. Or how these facts.. "It’s an empirical fact: San Francisco is a crappier place to live these days. Sightings of human feces on the sidewalks are now a regular occurrence; over the past 10 years, complaints about human waste have increased 400%. People now call the city 65 times a day to report poop, and there have been 14,597 calls in 2018 alone. Last year, software engineer Jenn Wong even created a poop map of San Francisco, showing the concentration of incidents across the city. New mayor London Breed said: “There is more feces on the sidewalks than I’ve ever seen growing up here.” In a revolting recent incident, a 20lb bag of fecal waste showed up on a street in the city’s Tenderloin district." https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/aug/18/san-francisco-poop-problem-inequality-homelessness That article is over seven years old, are you claiming it's gotten better, because that's extremely doubtful! And being cute only amplifies your cluelessness. Yes, Austin does have a homeless problem and yes, they do defecate but not in the middle of public streets. Unlike California, such behavior is not tolerated in Texas and even the liberal city of Austin (which condoned homeless encampments for years) is finally pulling its head out its ass and eradicating them (which a push from the Governor). You can be as delusional as many Californians are, but the truth is that state is quickly becoming a failed one and only a change in government as the result of the people forcing it will stop it from spiraling into an even deeper hell hole!

Shortage of crew bus drivers in Ramstein
An International Drivers License is not a drivers license per say but a translation of your US license. While encouraged to have, especially in countries were English isn't widely-spoken; they are not required. I've driven in Europe countless times without one and it was never an issue. Most of my speeding tickets were from cameras and sent to the rental company anyway! 😁😁😁 Also, it's been a very long time since I rented a car on military orders; but quick research showed if you use your GTCC it does provide rental car insurance for official government travel. It provides Collision Damage Waiver and Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), but does not cover damage/injury to other people or property or if you use the car off-duty or for personal travel. However, when you book through the DTS with approved vendors rental cars often already include full insurance in the contract thus you usually don’t need to rely on GTCC coverage at all. But don't trust my word, confirm that! Personally, I would much rather have a vehicle at my disposal than depend on the Transportation Squadron!

64,000 children killed or maimed in 2 years. That includes 1,000 infants. For the sin of being born in the wrong place. That's what you're championing. And people are still mystified when I explain that the USAF is not a dependable firewall vs genocidal political intent or unlawful orders. With that comment, you demonstrate that the door to your mind is closed and effort to pry it open will fail unless you are somehow de-radicalized, which usually only happens with mortal shock. Just remember, anything you let your government do to someone else, it will eventually do to you.- Future T-38 replacement?
It’s possible but if they select it, I doubt it would be them choosing it vs being told YOU WILL CHOOSE THIS. Since they are less concerned with actual FCLPs but only planning on FCLPs to waive off, they might make the USN buy the T-7 to get the program healthier / maybe a decent price per USN T-7 tail.- Trends in Air to Air Combat

No indirect involvement? That's like saying we had no indirect involvement with the Ukrainians fighting back Russia. Cute. The Iranians disagreed about the timing of the attack, not about the attack itself. They've spent billions on Hamas for years for exactly that type of attack. Some of you guys really are a trip. If I spent every day for the last few decades telling you that I was going to rape your wife and kill your kids, and then I rented the house next door and filled it with homeless people, and everyday you saw me and my friends going to that house to teach the homeless people how to rape women and kill children, with boxes of guns and fuzzy handcuffs every time I went there, I don't think you would be particularly confused as to what my intent was. I also don't think you would be dumb enough to call me a "rational actor." It's even funnier because you'll lose your mind over taking something Trump says literally, but when the regime chants Death to America in Friday prayers and in their schools... "Uhm, acktually, they're just doing what a rational actor in the region would be doing!' No, it's enough to make a gullible person less certain. It's remarkable how few Palestinians died in Gaza considering the absolute annihilation of the infrastructure. And I can't recall any history lessons about the Nazis, Bosnians, or Hutus calling every apartment complex they were about to attack warning the residents to flee. The only genocide in Gaza was a genocide of shitty concrete buildings and tunnels. Scholars indeed 🙄- The Failed Liberal State of California
Look at the picture again. Dude shit in the street, not on the sidewalk. It's the little things....- The Iran thread
The international community is divided on whether Israel's actions in Gaza constitute genocide. But the fact scholars and institutions we built for the sole purpose of preventing genocide say those actions meet the legal definition means there is at least enough ambiguity to make an open-minded person less certain. Indiscriminate bombardment of non-combatants and destruction of life-supporting infrastructure are what occurred. If you're cool with us supporting that, my question is simple: what evidence would change your mind? What would you need to see to reconsider your support? US strategy isn't usually keyed to an orderly NSC principals process. It is keyed to Presidential statements. The entire Desert Storm plan and legislative proposal campaign was written based on GHWB's public statements. The first meeting came after we'd already briefed Congress. All to say Presidential rhetoric is taken as national policy. You can say you're not a Trump guy, but we all are. Which is the whole point. When he threatened genocide, you lost that argument until he retracts it or is no longer in charge. I said morality matters in war. You imply it does, but you define it subjectively. The closest we get to international morality is the expressed limitations of international law, which bind us in the treaties we sign or sometimes even if we don't sign. If one belligerent is adhering to the law and the other is not, you can credibly call one immoral. If both are derogating from the law, both are immoral, which makes morality irrelevant. When morality becomes irrelevant, it's anything goes, including genocide. Maybe you begin to see the circularity of your reasoning, or maybe not. No one wants Iran to have a nuke. I'm with you there. But no one has argued this was about preventing Iran getting a nuke. The path to preventing is not to make Iran even more insecure. If you think 93 million people are unified in a radical Islamist cult, you're not thinking at all. Be more curious. Ask more questions. Learn about Iran. Distinguish between radicals and the general population. Because the first step in genocide is what you just did -- lumping 93 million people together and demonizing them all. Next step, dehumanize. After that, gas chambers. Distinguish also between the Israeli State and the Jewish people. Opposing the actions of the former is not antisemitism. That kind of insinuation cheapens the term, which is one of many reasons 70% of Israelis don't trust their government and 55% disapprove of Netanyahu. I'm not sure if you're trying to be ironic, but framing Iran as a hive of religious extremists before justifying current Israeli State action with reference to Isaac and Ishmael got a chuckle out of me. When it comes to your closing line, I've got bad news for you. Aside from our twin penchants for slavery and child sexual abuse, we share no DNA with Sparta. We are Athens. Iran might be our Sicily.- The Iran thread
I'm not sure from which obscure propagandist sludge pit you've mined the conclusion that Iran had any direct or indirect involvement in October 7th. No one else is as certain as you, including our own intelligence community and Israel's -- both denied it. The evidence is that Hamas tried to get Iran involved and Iran declined. October 7th didn't do Iran any favors. They lost sanctions relief and had to divert more money to military spending in anticipation of what is happening now. Yes, Iran has been funding Hamas since the 1990s. Funding irregular warfare is a rational and often effective tactic to harass and interdict a more powerful adversary without engaging in a direct confrontation. Signed, George Washington. But funding/supporting a terrorist militia doesn't grant control over that militia's future actions. Signed, Charlie Wilson.- The Failed Liberal State of California
I’ve lived in CA for 20 years and I’ve never seen anyone shit on the sidewalk. I was just in SF as well. I keep looking for it because it’s so common. In the great state of Texas, do homeless not poop. Is that part of the requirement to being homeless in Texas.- Shortage of crew bus drivers in Ramstein
Apparently Ramstein is so short of drivers they are making Aircrew rent their own vans to get to their hotels. While this might have benefits in allowing more flexibility and freedom for aircrews, it has some pitfalls too. Renting a vehicle in Germany without a German or international drivers license can expose the driver to major liability if you get into an accident. I’m not sure if the Base will accept that liability or not since they are implementing that policy. If you have an extended stay in Ramstein I recommend the two day class they offer to get a German license. It cost €10.00 when I got mine years ago and is good for ten years.- Mountain Home airshow crash

Cambridge Dictionary: a reason or reason why you support or oppose an idea or suggestion, or the process of explaining these reasons. I proposed an analogy, you questioned if it was the right analogy, I supported my claims and idea. Perhaps we can dispense with the pedantry. A country not being a regional neighbor and thus not being a threat hasn't been a factor to national defense since the inception of steam powered ships, much less the ICBM. Our national defense is threatened by a Iran who exports terrorism and has vowed to "slay the great satan" which is apparently US. I'd wager the number of Americans that could pick out Czechoslovakia in 1938 is less than the percentage of Americans that can identify Iran today. I don't recall polling the populace on their geography skills being a consideration for national defense. Incorrect. The phrase "accepted standards" being key to the Cambridge definition of immmoral. Countries that directly support terrorism fall below this threshold. Countries that directly support genocide fall into the evil category. American isn't financing genocide. The US does not finance genocide. Not since the Indians at least... I'm not a Trump apologist and don't agree with the quotes you're referencing. However, 47 years of Iran showing it believes it's own evil ideology and is willing to directly support attempted genocide is not a solid comparison here. Iran has proven it's inflammatory rhetoric isn't rhetorical at all. I didn't say morality matters in war. I referenced it in relation to a country that finances the attempted genocide of the Jewish people and yearns for the opportunity to use nuclear weapons against civilian targets. Incorrect. Iran attaining a nuclear weapon is a direct threat to our national security. I support the prevention of Iran attaining a nuclear weapon. Putting aside the presumption that there is "no one" that thinks US or Israel is an underdog, who says it matters who is perceived as an underdog and who isn't? Who is the "we" in that statement? Also, what do you think qualifies as a "rational decision" from the point of view of Iranian leadership? History is full of examples, especially in the case of the United States, where governments have applied a westernized world view to evaluate the concept of rationality to the government of a non-western nation, usually with disastrous results. A radical Islamist cult doesn't view national survival the same as we do. We don't negotiate with terrorists? Les Grossman might agree, but I doubt the rest of the world does. It depends on the situation. I'll grant there are definitely many levels between action and inaction. If I were to rephrase I'd say the actions that we've taken in the last 47 years have been impotent at best and counter productive at worst. We have yet to attempt to excise the tumor that is the Iranian leadership, until now. When you find someone or Anyone that made this statement, let us know. This analogy is a house of cards balanced on one simple questions: How would starting a war that political advisors warned would be very unpopular (especially considering Trump's platform during the election), successfully distract from a failing economy? If the country has a cold why start battling a wasp nest to take your mind off of it (this is an analogy I like)? Even if Iranian nuclear material is seized and their program destroyed, this is going to be a very politically unpopular war. Despite being blatantly obvious, I feel obliged to mention that unlike the Soviets, US constituents don't need the country to collapse to force a change of leadership. Oh, I'm very open to the idea that our internal politics are ff'ed and were long before this war occurred. Our economy was taken out of our own hands as soon as our leaders bought into the lie that was globalization. Disproportionate and indiscriminate responses is at best a misrepresentation of facts and at worst a blatant lie. I'd wager that to "them" or more correctly the Israel government, that terrorist attacks by islamic radicals were not seen as a clash of civilizations, but rather an existential threat. A threat they'd been dealing with not since Munich but since Isaac and Ishmael. Ironically enough, the Abraham Accords disprove your assertion that they have no interest in peace or conciliation. To support their strategy they've use the instruments of power as outlined in the ADSC reading guide? Are you more or less surprised than this: I'm more concerned we're Sparta to China's Athens.- Mountain Home airshow crash

I can’t explain that, because I don’t know. What I do know is as follows: 1) We have an artificially higher gas tax, by a significant amount. I don’t know why because our roads are terrible and they’re turning them into bike lanes. 2) My electricity rates are increased at a rate that is greater than the advertised rate of inflation (but are likely what actual inflation rates are.) 3) Trash fees, which were previously apart of property tax, just became an additional fee of $600/year. 4) $19,000 a year in state income tax at roughly $300k a year. 5) 1% property tax on a $1m home (median) is a lot. Plus community taxes. 6) We’ve created the fastest high speed rail… That doesn’t exist. 7) Probably lots of “Learing” Centers.- What's wrong with the Air Force?
