  1. I clicked the retirement button this morning...

  2. I think the key difference is that this knucklehead was in Baghdad when he caught a warhead. I’d also be willing to speculate that there was pretty good intel linking him to the embassy shenanigans .... or ... he was getting a little too popular / powerful back home and we got tipped off. (retired ... don’t actually know anything ... free to wildly speculate)

  5. For all the gonnabe's out there looking over the fence at the greener grass, those first two words are mucho important. The grass is still greener even if you wanna move back home to your farm in central KS, but most of the epic tales are from guys living in base.

  6. Yes, I believe I have similar panic posts earlier in this thread. I had recommend disapproval all the way up the chain and still got approved by SAF/PC. No need to panic... yet. Sent from my SM-G960U using Baseops Network mobile app

  8. It talked mainly about dudes mowing the lawn, an unlit tower, a new MDA that went into effect 5 years ago, World War 3 starting, and an unlit taxiway.

  9. Flying with other units happens all the time. How often and duration of such is wildly dependent on multiple factors and nothing anyone can predict for you. Bring it up to your sq/cc when you’re getting closer to the end of seasoning and see what he says. Going with a deploying squadron who needs manning help is your best bet for hours, tax free pay, etc.

  10. So the organizations who historically can’t maintain timeline are about to expand the workload? Where was that post about terrible policy and managements decisions at? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Or at least relatively close. Atlanta sucks. The panhandle of Florida is awesome and close enough.

  13. At least in the MAF the problem is bad aviators dodge flying, do the exec/staff/school, get promoted, then make poor decisions about the topic they weren't good in to begin with: flying. The good aviators see the writing on the wall and GTFO at the earliest opportunity and fly for the majors. The bad aviators get out after retiring and go into project management, policy analyst, or some other staff job.

  14. According to my test friends, that's a early test video. That's why they do test to identify and work those issues out. People have short term memories considering the early -135's had AR pumps that would blow up when they got hot, killing the crew.

  15. Too bad only those who would never go postal on their co-workers and/or stage an attack on Offutt will follow his rules. This gutless “leadership” is why I left AD at the earliest opportunity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. .”I have worked 3 days on short call this month so far.” Folks, unless you value your time at zero, please stop saying this. If you are required to be within a certain geographic radius, fit for flying duty and contactable....you are working. Don’t sell yourself and your profession short.

  17. This stampede stuff is normal pregame prep for the Hajj. IMHO, Iran will field a team that's going to be hard to outdo during the upcoming 2020 Hajj - main stampede event A.K.A. "The Stoning of the Devil".

  18. Kinda symptomatic of how the Air Force develops officers and it shows what promotion boards value. Just about every O-6/CC bio you see is one or two ops tours, then school this, fellowship that, exec to blah blah blah...a periodic touch and go back to flying to punch the DO or Sq/CC card, then more school...on and on. Flying skill and tactical competency does not seem to be valued when grooming for O-6, hence, the 2200 hr Wg/CC.

  19. You are going to get a lot of different recommendations but here's my personal take. Hours: DIY with Excel, or use MilKeep Light Reading: What you said App Review: CheckedandSet (buy the combo with Emerald Coast) use Charlie, the others I've heard mixed reviews. They'll review two apps, pick your two favorites that are on two different sites (AKA NOT United and Delta) Resume Prep: personally had a bad experience with Career Takeoff, used CockpittoCockpit template instead Interview Prep: Emerald Coast, lifetime membership. Great for general prep. All this said, other companies offer resume, app, and interview prep all in one package. Most of those are focused on one airline or another so if you have a favorite use those. I wanted American and did not hear about Judy Tarver (AA focus) until I had already completed Emerald Coast prep. Again, lots of opinions inbound but this set up worked for me (CJO and starting with AA on the 21st). Sent from my SM-G960U using Baseops Network mobile app

  20. Don’t make snap judgements of a senior leader based on a bio. Luck and timing has a lot to do with combat as well. Back in the day, Rainman talked about not logging combat time in OSW and ONW and that was common in his squadron. Maybe a similar thing here, who knows. And by this logic you could say “she didn’t even kill one MiG over there? Dudes got kills!” Combat decorations for quantity don’t signify anything other than participating. My community is a great example of a few guys with a crap ton of combat time and air medals that don’t have very good tactical credibility. I’ve never met this Colonel or the OG and don’t know anything other than what’s in this thread. I do wonder if there is a single leader that the unwashed masses of this site think isn’t “toxic”.

  22. I’ll somewhat reverse what I said earlier based off an experience I had today. Student cross-country. He shows up with a beautiful VFR plan. Amazingly marked VFR chart. Even wants to pick up an IFR for some instrument approaches after. He briefs me that at 1100L the weather will be SKC, 9999 RVR. The problem is it was 1050L and it was still misty and overcast less than a thousand. The epiphany I had is that if we teach the students based off 1s and 0s in a sim and cut out too much flying, all we’re going to get is really good canned environment pilots. I know correlation doesn’t equal causation, but I have started to notice a severe lack of common sense amongst my T-6 students, and part of that is probably because we are taking away their opportunities to see real world flying.

  25. Check yourself. If everyone around you lacks credibility, who might really? You’ve been $h1t-talking your community for years and it’s tiresome. Maybe you’re concerned that you’re not as cool as you think you are, but if you throw enough bros under the bus you might pad your ego enough to get there. Talk about toxic.
