@Negatory I’m fairly positive Lawman is not trying to argue there’s tons of great billionaires on “his side” (whatever that means), and is simply highlighting the stupidity of this whole charade/medal, regardless of political affiliation (he just said Trump giving it to Elon would help cement the whole thing as a sham).

Why is it you read something, engage turbo douche mode, and go on an unhinged rant that wildly misrepresents the person you’re replying to. For your own mental health, recommend some introspection and find a way to turn the blind, illogical, and generally unprovoked rage down a few notches. You’ll feel better and your communication skills probably would improve.

Or maybe - just maybe - Americans should pause this fake party war and realize that billionaires shouldn’t be elevated to some level above the common man in political influence or government service.

Conservatives have the exact same kinds of people, the Peter Thiels, the Koch brothers, the Uihliens, Ken Griffin, Jeff Yasses, Charles Schwab, Elon Musk. Maybe we should reject it all instead of saying our shitty billionaire is shittier than ours. But that’s confusing to the folks that literally elected the billionaire class to run themselves 😂

It’s a race to the bottom with some of you guys, eh?

Yet another misfire. No one has a problem with billionaires per se. We have a problem with certain billionaire's objectives. See the following:

  • Bill Gates' climate / clean meat / no meat / spray vaccine efforts, etc
  • George Soros' bank-rolling all manner of "grass roots" campaigns to modify society, wage lawfare, BLM riots, et al

Peter Thiel and Elon Musk aren't trying to dismantle our sovereignty or take away any of our rights.

See the difference? These conversations would be more productive if you'd come to terms with your oppositions' actual POV.

It distracts from his track record of being wrong.

Happy January 6th.  Cheers!

Pffffft. How could I forget lol.

I remember it was only a couple of years ago the Dems were charging hard to codify Jan 6th as the second coming of Sept 11th. Nary a peep today. Maybe sanity still has a chance.

Says the guy who supported the candidate whose campaign outspent Trump 3-1…

Trudeau’s just opening himself up for the Governor job.  Probably gonna take some days off for a dip in the Gulf of America first.

“I’m not going to commit to that,” Trump said, when asked if he would rule out the use of the military. “It might be that you’ll have to do something. The Panama Canal is vital to our country.” He added, “We need Greenland for national security purposes.”

Haha. What's more embarrassing for you? Announcing to everyone that you're quitting the forum, or being too weak to actually do it?

Indeed...I think that sent some shockwaves through the capitals of multiple countries.

To say the Chinese control the Panama Canal is incorrect.  However, like everywhere else China is expanding their influence through investment, and coercion.   Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison Holdings manages two ports at the canal's entrances AND Chinese firms are funding construction of a new bridge over the canal to the tune of over $1 billion.

I think his comments are a more a reflection of the YUGE cost increases to use the canal and the impact to U.s> warship transits.  A very long and complicated story of drought, reserved slots and auctions on said spots that no one wants to read but in short they are DOUBLING their rates in 2025.  With 72% of all Panama Canal traffic feeding in to the U.S. Trade and economic system, Trump is right to say it is impacting us more that other countries and with prices doubling that seems a bit unfair especially when we built the canal.

Greenland...that is a Crazy Ivan, I would have thought that was more of an issue during the cold war.  I am sure many of the aviators on this forum have flown through and gotten gas in Greenland, we have never been denied access.

My biggest concern from the bluster is the second order effects...does that give Xi Jinping ground to stand on with regard to taking back Taiwan?

which I'm sure will have no built-in capabilities to rapidly de-construct itself across the canal.

Likewise.  I'm am very glad we've got an active president coming it.  I sincerely hope he's got some solid minders to properly vector all the thrust.

Doubt it has anything to do with access and mostly to do with minerals.

Access to greater sovereign control (and yes minerals) and Anti-Access via UEWR as well as blocking via EEZ/contiguous/territorial waters are what come to mind.

BLUB: more regional control and security via sovereign control. Akin to China's 9-dash line, albeit containing Panama Canal shipping choke point (i.e. global L.o.C.) and IVO Northern Passage, (bonus for more arctic region vs. 9-line). If I were to bar-napkin it, it'd be a 10 dash line!

Break/

So when are we going to build the One-American-Road (ex. North to South America) vs the BRI (i.e. One-Belt, One-Road) and quit playing around with these reduced-regional matters!? Go trans-global, full region like China's BRI. That's geopolitical parity. I see it coming in our lifetimes via coalition, alliances, or other in our lifetimes while on this present geopolitical vector.

A lot of folks on this forum have been saying this for a long time, but the apologists hated Trump so much they spent the last four years in the notch with Biden.  It was obvious....beyond obvious but you attacked anyone who mentioned it and pivoted back to your hate of the Orange Man.

Some in the press tried to report it and they were quickly given the body check and put in the corner.  Biden is a demented old man, he didn't even know he signed an executive order freezing liquid natural gas exports, he denied it just weeks after signing it.  SHAME on his wife and SHAME on the Ivy league inner circle that wanted to retain power.  For at least the last year, likely longer, a group of people who were not elected have been running this country.

Biden will retire to Delaware and I predict we will quietly hear of his rapid decline which actually started years ago.

In one final act of lunacy Biden just pardoned Fauci, Milley and the Jan 6 Committee show members.

The left and the power structure associated with it knows that the truth will come out.  And it’ll be sooner than later.  Pardons don’t prevent investigations or info from being released they just prevent charging someone for their crimes.

Let the truth come out.  All of it.  We just witnessed the most destructive 4 years in our nations history, politically speaking.

Today it all changes.  Let’s get to work rebuilding this nation.

The most embarrassing president.

IANAL...but the SCOTUS determined in 1915 that accepting a pardon included the acceptance of a confession.

So kinda like the "declaration" on the ERA being a law, the current POTUS is wrong on his preemptive pardons statement.

"The issuance of these pardons should not be mistaken as an acknowledgment that any individual engaged in any wrongdoing, nor should acceptance be misconstrued as an admission of guilt for any offense.

To be clear, my post was sarcasm embodied. I shared merely to highlight the rampant hypocrisy of the “unbiased” press.
