Sometimes progressives will say the quiet part out loud…unbelievable.  And since when are those here illegally now called “Americans”?

"Well, I mean, Chris, that’s been a failed play for 20 years. So you are right that that has been the Democratic strategy for 30 years, maybe, and it has failed to deliver for the people we care about most, the undocumented Americans that are in this country," Murphy said.

The idiot progressive cuck that’s Denver’s Mayor is cutting services to citizens, and looking at future furloughs and layoffs of city workers, to help fund the migrants.

Once again, this is a good thing.  Now maybe more people who support this guy and their nonsense will wake up.  Maybe.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that this guy thinks cutting services will somehow cause his constituents to apply national level pressure to Texas to stop the flow.

Of course it won't work that way, but I think a lot of people are gradually coming around to the realization that we have been electing sociopathic clowns to all positions of power for quite a while now. Legitimately, these are people who are exceptionally good actors, matched only by their exceptionally weak intellects.

Neighboring town of Lakewood has asked Denver how they can assist w the issue.  Meaning the problem will now spread to the burbs.

that state is so far gone….no chance they ever gravitate to the R.  A good chunk of ppl like myself used Covid to cash out.

This dude is acting like he’s non-profit CEO with access to Denver’s tax revenue to spend instead of a mayor. Dems here are viciously throwing out propaganda to repeal the Colorado Tax Payer Bill of Rights (TABOR) that sets tax revenue caps for the state (any excess must be refunded to the tax payers) and any tax rate changes must be voted on by CO citizens (Dems get around that by calling it a “fee,” not a “tax). They’re trying to repeal it since they don’t want voters to have a say on them spending tax revenue.

Johnston is also whining that surrounding Denver Metro cities aren’t willing to tank their operating budget to support migrants. Denver does own/operate DEN and Red Rocks, so when this idiot starts furloughing people, expect significant delays and cancellations.

Thankfully, I live in DougCo and I’m a Wyoming Native. A lot of the younger progressives that move here from their shitty Midwest town quickly find out they can’t afford to live here and move back and take their votes with them.

How funny…to stop the flow…from Texas.  Not Mexico…. If so, this is even better than I thought as it puts more pressure to actually not allow nearly every person who comes in to say “I’m claiming asylum” and allow them to remain for years until a court date, which the vast majority will never show up to.  Oh and if Mexico isn’t nearly as a bad place as the left tells us, what’s wrong with keeping people there?

This is tribal and reactionary, not ideological.  Trump played to xenophobic tendencies, so his opponents went whole hog letting in as many outsiders as possible.

It wasn't that long ago that Bernie Sanders said open borders was a Koch brothers conspiracy.

No, they’ll move to Texas and still vote as they have.

I wouldn’t be so sure.  I originally though that a lot of the people moving from CA and NY to places like FL and TX were mostly liberals… it I think they’re mostly moderates to conservative, based on what I’ve seen.  There’s a reason why FL has gone much more red compared to the last 20-30 years.  Part of it I think is the older people have become more likely to vote red but also because the majority of people moving there like FL for their taxes, etc compared to NY and CA.  As far as Colorado, it’s been kind of the opposite—it has mostly attracted liberals from CA and the like because of the way CO was trending over the last 20+ years.  Thoughts?

No…this is what I’m reading.  Whether it be election results, poll after poll, what the leftist politicians say (did you not see the one I posted about the Dem Senator who literally said illegals are the most important people and are “undocumented Americans”?) the laws being passed which are supported by their constituents, you name it.  And not wanting illegals in the country isn’t xenophobic at all, but you think the way you want to man.

Yes, politicians say lots of stuff, they're playing to the crowd.  It's what they do.

But square all the BS with Bernie's position change.  That is a hell of a change for someone who claims the socialism (very ideological) mantle.

My point is that American politics is driven by tribalism at the moment.  Anything that Red team says must be opposed by Blue team.  Anything bad for Blue team is inherently good for Red team.  Etc.

No, wanting a secure border with orderly, legal immigration with numbers based on the needs of the country is not xenophobic. But xenophobia is a very common human tendency* and if you can't see Trump playing to that in his stump speeches from the 2016 era, I don't know what to say you.  Yes he was mis-quoted by retard journalists to make it sound worse, but it was unnecessary.

*If you've read Jonathan Haidt's work,  openness vs not may be one of the underlying foundational political personality traits.

My concern is far less about what politicians do but is much more concerned what they are/aren’t doing which equates to horrible policy—what they say matters because it’s is very connected to the policy.

We’re not where we are as a country with horrible laws and executive orders that leaves a border wide open, allows criminals to attack police officers and be let go, a massive debt, laws that incentivize the breakdown of the family, policies encouraging young children to take dangerous gender changing medication or surgery…on and on…all just because “politicians just say a lot of stuff”.

My point is this isn't a political policy/economic wonk led ideological push.  Bernie Sanders did not gain popularity because he really won people over on the logic of socialism.  He gained popularity based on emotional sentiment of the people, "fuck those rich assholes."

Let me re-phrase:  The current descent into looney toons land is not because politicians are leading us there.  The body of the people has divided into tribes, politicians want to get elected and playing to tribal sentiment and feeding the hate machine is a time tested method.

For perspective: my view of our current insanity is heavily influenced by reading "The Revolt of the Public"
