September 20, 20241 yr Being gone a few months you start to get perspective… probably in a few years my thoughts will clarify further but in a simple sense the AF is too cerebral. Too much brains not enough balls, too much studying not enough sports, too much nerdiness not enough jock and too many avenues for rank, attracts and incentivizes douchebaggery. There’ll be no pull back in this from the AF unless the other services culled their shoe clerk herds and unnecessary offices in like kind so that the AF wouldn’t be at a disadvantage in the DoD relatively as an institution at the Joint level.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The new approach is to cull the white guys...they are not even trying to hide the intent. Merit and national Security be damned, the progressive agenda must rule everything we do. Austin should have been fired when he went MIA...CQ is the exact same douche canoe he was as the Commandant of the Weapons School. Our Air Force is broken...we have psychopaths like CQ and Slife at the top, Cat5 running the zoo and a SECDEF and CSAF more focused on racial quotas than lethality and combat capability. It’s tough to get upset when you’re not surprised. It was obvious over the last several years that this crap was/is going on. Since the “leaders” don’t care about our military, then it’s tough for everyone else to care. Sucks to be those who are still serving, but they have a choice, just as we all did.
September 20, 20241 yr Probably the wrong thread to ask, but what ever happened to the promises made to AFPAK Hands volunteers/voluntolds?
September 20, 20241 yr All of these people claiming diversity...anywhere...are full of absolute sheet. How many of them are going to demand a black gay female doctor perform their next surgery in the name of diversity. Absolute horseshit.

I think the promises made to take care of them were upheld for the most part, at least for the people I know that were involved with the program. I knew of an NSAV guy that didn’t command who made O-6 and an intel guy who was offered SDE and O-6 (he ended up retiring rather than take it). There’s also a current sitting MC-J Sq/CC who was an AFPAK hand. I haven’t heard of any Hands getting fucked over, though I wouldn’t doubt that it’s happened.
September 20, 20241 yr The Air Force keeps pushing the public perception that it won’t be happy until the President is pinning Medals of Honor on transgender RPA pilot influencers. If that’s not the Air Force’s core focus, it’s doing a bad job of showing it.

Some upheld, most not via secondhand knowledge, save firsthand experience below. In my neck-of-the-woods, I kept one program promise true for one my AFPAK troops, the only thing in my authority at the time.

Go do years of your life in a massive shit hole for a war that ended in failure (we all knew it would), all so you can be “guaranteed” a life-sucking job of command, complete waste of time school, and O-6 in this disaster of an organization. It’s like these people love non-stop kicks in the junk.

It’s like these people love non-stop kicks in the junk. Different strokes bro. I would never have personally volunteered for that program but some did. FWIW, I have lots of friends who found their Sq/CC time to be a highlight of their career. Sure it’s a shitload of work, but if you don’t lead scared and truly give a shit about your people over your career you can accomplish a lot. I also know a lot of guys that really enjoyed SDE. Maybe not AWC, but NPS, NWC, Eisenhower, NVWC etc are in good locations and some (like NPS) give you a legitimate higher education. I also personally was never interested in O-6 but I don’t judge people that are. We need good dudes/dudettes doing that shit. I was very very lucky in my career to, for the most part, have had very good Sq and Grp leadership. Towards the end the O-6 level leadership was starting to become uneven. Some of the people that were getting pushed at the O-4/5 level I didn’t find impressive either but some were genuinely great. I just retired so it’s not my problem anymore but I’m hopeful that the simple pendulum will swing back to the center. CAT 5 getting shitcanned in my command was at least a start.
September 21, 20241 yr No judgement, I just have never understood the thought process of volunteer for a shit deal because it’ll “guarantee” you something good on the back side.

Just take that sweet deployment or assignment. Trust me, I won't you screw you. How many dudes had that happen to them? More gents than just P Diddy got fucked in the backside. At least P Diddy liked it. Edited September 22, 20241 yr by Biff_T Ingles es muy duro.

He said it was really shitty that the O-6+s in the program just surfed a desk at the Pentagon and didn’t have to live in Pakistan.

Valid, but there's more nuance: some of us volunteered not because of promises on the back end but because being at war (in whatever capacity)was the objective. I did 18 deployments, including a year as flying advisor (not a hand though), and volunteered for them all. I'd do it again; being relevant (even when dealt a losing hand) is the draw for some people. Losing was a tragedy I am still processing, but I would hate myself had I acted differently. Certainly not judging anyone else. The Hands program was garbage; by the end they hid their status from GIRoA who deeply resented PAK. Lol, pentagon is full of idiots. My takeaway from 21 years: figure out who you are and what you like, then do that. The best way to serve is in a capacity suited to your personality and innate characteristics. Pretend to be other than as you are: you'll be miserable & your team will know.

September 24, 20241 yr The Army figured it out before the Air Force! Army's Top Enlisted Leader Removed Diversity Consideration for Top Enlisted Roles The Army's top enlisted leader has removed key guidance that required diversity to be considered when selecting individuals to serve in upper-level noncommissioned officer positions, according to a memo reviewed by Military.com. Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Weimer, the top enlisted leader of the force, recently issued new guidance on selecting command sergeants major that was essentially copy-and-pasted from his predecessor -- with one exception. It removes a line directing that a command sergeant major candidate's diversity be considered... (full article at title link)

It’s time for the Air Force to follow suite. I’ve had strat lists thrown back at my face by a female commander because “not enough females,” I’ve had Wing leadership specifically ask for specific minority groups for certain positions or developmental opportunities; best qualified was seldom the criteria.

September 26, 20241 yr The old “if you wear sunglasses on your head, how can I trust you to fly an airplane” form of “leadership.” Bottom line, this guy is a complete non-mission oriented pussy. He’ll go far in this AF.
