  1. AWACS had a similar problem in the early 80's, they were using body bags out of Thailand flown on a C-130s to Kadena then bags of black tar heroin were put on E-3's to Tinker. Had AIC's buying homes and cars for cash in OKC until the DEA figured out how 100% pure stuff was in Oklahoma. Lots of Op's and MX guys went down hard, so much they couldn't fly the schedule and flooded MX with new 3 levels straight out of tech school. That's how my career started.
  2. For all you guys with liberal friends asking you to remember your oath, and these boats. Tell them to Google 10 USC 124, 14 USC 522, 14 USC 526, the Maritime Drug Law Enforcement Act (MDLEA), and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Seas (UNCLOS) and tell them to never miss an opportunity to STFU.
  3. My last day was to send my flag and retirement certificate to this address, not rent a crowd ceremony. Most of the Senior E's in my Sq I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire. Started my terminal leave and couple days later my boss calls and asks me why I'm not at work. That Sq was so petty I never got my flag or certificate.
  4. I'm a retired old fart MSgt, got out at 21 mainly because I would never see another stripe, all my time was on the flightline, had a boss tell me all you did was deploy a bunch and do your job, never saw you at Sq parties or top 4 meetings. When I was stationed at Andrews, I was more an aircraft detailer than Crew Chief, I absolutely hated being there, hated the mission. Back in those days I could call my AFSC's manager at Randolph and ask for a PCS. He said you want Iceland, hell yes, I said just to get out of Washington DC. Guess what happened, I loved being in the USAF again. I think being in the Air Force is a lot like real estate, location, location, location. Before that I was ready to move on, get out and go home to Chicago and be a cop. I'm Sure glad I didn't do that. Now I'm semi-retired living the life in my mountain home in Colorado getting 4 checks monthly because I decided to stay in not go back to Chicago. 15 years is a bunch of years to walk away from, think really hard about it.
  5. Had no problem getting rid of tail gunners, Flight engineers, and Navigators, soon it will be all humans eliminated
  6. I wonder if few of these propellers were sent to foreign military sales. Air Force engineer indicted in connection with Marine plane crash that killed 16
  7. For all the history nerds here, I watched the Netflix movie Death by Lightning, the assassination of James Garfield. The first installment is how party politics was in the GOP convention. I recommend it.
  8. Sounds like an encounter I had back in the early 90s with a certain CSAF who thought he could taxi a C-135B between hangers like an F-15. His Crew Chief who was marshalling gave the stop sign but CSAF ignored him until the copilot applied the brakes. He came down the crew ladder screaming at everyone , how dare you tell me how to taxi.
  9. Chicago's last GOP mayor was in 1931, Big Jim Thomson, I enlisted in Chicago in 1980 in the southwest side Mount Greenwood where the majority of Cops and Firemen live my cousin being one of them. I went to two of High School reunions there and both times it gets worse from the economic downturn I see in the old neighborhood. The progressive politicians whose base is on the Chicago's north shore white affluent liberals keep electing even more out of touch Democrats who are running the place into the ground. I bet if Da Mayor old Richard J Daley was still alive, they would consider him a Republican. It still makes me tear up when our class president was murdered by 3 POS's from the west side because she couldn't open the safe at our local McDonalds in 79. The trigger man is still doing hard time for it, today he would have beat the rap due to the Cook County DA being hyper liberal.
  10. Do you know how many times I have had that exact same conversation, my PTSD just kicked in, thanks bud.
  11. Prosuper replied to VL-16's topic in Squadron Bar
I got trained on the old Berreta M9, and own one now, because I got trained on it. Never heard of one those going off unless someone playing stupid games winning stupid prizes. Our elders could probably say the same about the 1911 .45 or the SW .38.
  12. Being retired enlisted in a huge maintenance squadron OMS, AGS, or AMXS, pilots do not get or very little exposure to enlisted unless they fly a heavy with loadmasters/boomers, Flight engineers or flight mechanics. But that is a small exposure just to get todays mission done. They don't deal with the personnel issues such as EPR's, training, or discipline. We have junior mx officers with a MSgt Pro Super tied to them to keep them out of trouble before a O5 SQCC makes their life a living hell. My neighbor is a retired Army Apache pilot who was the MX officer in his unit, he flew all the OCF/FCFs before a line pilot flew it, totally different culture. It's been a while since the USAF had rated Mx officers and awhile MX was assigned to Ops squadrons. In the early 90's many OPCC's flew their jets into the ground not managing acft hours telling the MX officer and Senior Es to shut up and color. Try being in those squadrons with a bunch of whiney ABM's.
  13. Being an E-3 Crew Chief for many years, being there getting brand new jets delivered and arriving broke for radar. Seeing many air aborts for mission systems which the acft the day before had flown 12 hours of pilot pro's. Seeing the reengining program cut, if they would have done this the fleet could have been much healthier, changed many TF-33s to see it not even last one mission. Today the TF33 goes to depot and sits on a deadline with no parts to fix it. This acft has been so badly mismanaged by Wing Commanders who only cared about their next job, the knee jerk reaction for the black hawk shootdowns of building additional new crews but not having the acft to certify them. I am so glad that I ended my career on KC-135s.
  14. The US has the luxury of having of taking the mullah's word and then saying my bad I believed you, the Israelis don't, just one nuke would devastate the whole country. One device in a truck parked in Tel Aviv by Hamas or Hezbollah would guarantee Iran's death plus most of Israel in its death throws in a massive nuclear retaliation.
  15. If I was an enemy commander I would try the same thing, except I would target every Tanker we have in Conus and make our bombers and fighters dependent landing for refuel.
