  1. It has multiple stop lights and no grain elevators. Ergo, fancy as hell.
  2. I’m a simple Midwesterner and don’t know much about your fancy Northeast liberal cities, but how big of a deal is that bridge coming down?
  3. Much less involved than other communities. Usually go to the ops desk and write down your speeds and bug those IAW v3 guidance. There are calculators and such but in terms of mission planning, it’s not a big part of it. W&B is even less of a thought. You’ll only fly in approved stores load outs that are good so that’s not much of a thought either. My data is old but I very much doubt that’s changed in the last few years.
  4. We recently had a mod that we had to go to a dinky airport in New Jersey where you got your IFR clearance by calling McGuire on the phone at the end of the runway. Of course the guy I call is maybe an English 4th language type and about all I understood was "clearance void if not off the ground in 2 minutes" I just took off and turned toward what I thought was the VOR he said to go toward. Seemed to work out.
  5. Yup that’s what queued me in. We taxied a bit then slowed suspiciously then made a 180 and back the same route to the other runway. I do have to admit that Watertown, SD is up there with O’hare in complex taxiing so I’ll cut them some slack.
  6. I’ll tell you that if the AF wants more talented leaders they need to stop focusing on exec, aide, PME etc and actually pay attention beyond the spreadsheet of who has leadership talent and who doesn’t.
  7. I recently was flying on Denver Air Connection and the pilots got lost on the ground lol. Easy mistake that I'm sure no one else caught but I couldn't help but laugh. And those ladies had at least 750 for restricted ATP's.
  8. Just make sure they bring halal noodles and wonton soup.
  9. That block of jets being retired has become so different over the years that they are basically a logistics anchor on the entire fleet. And bringing them up to the rest of the fleet is cost prohibitive so something’s gotta give.
  10. Watch this and remediate all this gay shit I keep reading.
  11. You’ll need a $100k bonus to pay for the psychological damage of going to Envoy from the AF.
  12. Good Lord that’s a lot of T-6 FAIPs.
  13. Not a mobility guy but what’s the elevator speech of who is responsible for what in an airdrop? Who rigs the chutes, QC’s them, etc? AC ultimately responsible for that or not?
  14. I can’t find it quickly but this drone obsession makes for good, consumable videos but the real killing in ground combat is still being done by artillery. Good video out there of a high ranking Army general discussing that a month or so ago. I’m absolutely not saying drones don’t have a role or shouldn’t be used, but they aren’t some panacea that will solve the ills of the world.
  15. By this logic, I’ve seen unmanned cars and the Boston Dynamics robots that could replaces armored vehicles and soldiers so let’s get rid of them. It’s the same stupid line of reasoning that thinks AI will solve everything.
  16. Air dropped food to Gaza not good because it’s not Halal. Luckily the JDAMs are kosher.
  17. Do the types of people who do this genuinely think they are helping the cause with moves like this? Not too long ago it was just about “equality” and now…sheesh.
  18. I think even without the DEI cert, she could see this guy is roided out of his gourd.
  19. I don’t doubt it, but don’t confuse me with a good person.
  20. I’ll tell you this that the AAD thing is back with a vengeance. I BFM’d that requirement to O-5 DO gig and then went from top Strat to bottom 1/3 for next rack and stack. When I asked why they said that since that’s a requirement for O-6 and not having one shows you don’t want to be an O-6, they don’t want you to be a commander since that’s a step to O-6. Sigh.
  21. Didn’t the 1st SOW get credit for their ORI when they went and did earthquake relief support in Haiti back in 2010/2011?
  22. The C-12 thing in the Army is so strange to me. Seems like that is a very sought after airframe which begs the question…why would you try to fly for the Army (99% helo) then gun for fixed wing?
  23. As unbelievable as it sounds, I'm a fan of bringing the no notice inspection back. The prep for inspection crap is so stupid and the amount of organizations that think they can prep just for the scheduled test and let everything rot until then is insane.
  24. When I hear a NATO country saying they're "prepared" for anything, I put a very hairy eyeball on that.
  25. Amen. I actually read all of that and if a GS-11 civilian can do this, that is such a massive failure of so many people it’s hard to fathom. I don’t care if they have a strong union or not, you fire that chick immediately (assuming all his allegations are true).
