    Gun Talk

Another senseless boosting tragedy. When will it end?
  2. The irony of putting Harris in charge of anything related to intelligence.
  3. The really sad part is how language and definitions are getting warped or changed so I'm trying to wrap my brain around and decipher that language so my brain accepted"people protestors" and moved on without a second thought.
  4. "The Cold War: What We Saw" narrated by Bill Whittle is excellent. He also did "Apollo: What We Saw" about the space race. Also excellent. You might be able to find them outside the Daily wire.
  5. This is the same guy that said Hunter is the smartest person he knows which should really worry the rest of the freedom loving planet.
  6. Nothing like trusting your career and life to an organization with demonstrated incompetence. "You have to stay because we were stupid before but we are smarter now, so sorry."
  7. It happened back in the day before the dual track system but I'm not sure how it would work now. I had a student going to 141 Reserves at CHS. We FAR'd him and he was offered an F-16 when another ARC guy didn't make the FAR cut.
  8. This should be fun! The 80 year old with demonstrable cognitive decline is going to run for President again! As opposed to putting the nation through the whole FJB vs Orange Man Bad again, I say we put on a pay per view (funds go to pay down debt) death cage match and the winner is exiled to Epstein Island. Win, win, win for everyone.
  9. The VFR arrival instructions into LaGuardia were a hoot. "Fly to the Lady and up the river." Can't remember the altitude but I remember I couple nice views of Times Square.
  10. Just makes me wonder what will be offensive tomorrow. It's amusing when the offended stumble into being offensive and are socially guillotined like the leaders of the French revolution.
  11. True. And this does nothing to improve or sustain our ability to kill people or break their stuff but that isn't the priory of those in charge.
  12. A sad example of someone who appeared to be happy and literally put in front of the public to celebrate their authenticity but it wasn't enough to overcome mental challenges. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11895171/amp/Trans-flight-attendant-25-gained-fame-United-Airlines-commercial-kills-herself.html
  13. There's still that whole suicide ideation rate that far exceeds the normal population so you've got that to deal with even after the 3 year wait.
  14. Just flew a trip with a Check Airman and those that identify under DEI categories are getting double the number of IOE flights to qualify. White guys (his words, not mine) get 5 and out. I'm thinking you must really suck to require 5 attempts at IOE so sucking twice as much can't be good.
  15. Yeah, what Brabus said.
  16. The big takeaways are 1. Officer Sicknick did not die on Jan 6th but the media, FJB, the AG, and democrats knew it and lied. Worse, they continue to lie in some cases. 2. The DOJ intentionally failed to disclose evidence as required by constitutional law. They lied to the court. 3. Democrats trashed a couple centuries of precedence by not allowing the minority party to select their committee members, did not allow counter arguments or evidence, and staged a show trial that would have made Stalin proud. In other words, there is no lie too big even if it means the destruction of the truth, legal protections, and the legislative process in order to further the advancement of power. Scary shit right there.
  17. Good Ukraine pro/con debate on the Dan Crenshaw podcast. It was a formal structured debate with each side able to present their argument. The con side was presented by a William Ruger.
  18. The Daily Wire responds to Hershey going woke by introducing their own chocolate bar. The She Her bar is chocolate and the He Him bar is also chocolate but has nuts. The video is pretty darn funny. https://www.dailywire.com/news/jeremys-chocolate-sells-more-than-200000-chocolate-bars-in-under-36-hours
  19. There are a whole lot of "medical experts" that need a good bitch slap and told to just shut the fuck up next time.
  20. Good point. I fly wide body international so it's pretty clear cut where you can carry. (Rumors are 2 European countries are going to be added but not sure of the timeline.) Flying narrow body with a domestic/international mix with constant changes to your sequence would really make for a pain in the ass.
  21. FFDO training is great for increasing your handgun skills with the added bonus of telling the TSA to pack sand.
  22. Did AA recurrent training last month and they had a compilation video of vehicles hitting jets or almost hitting jets. The total number of hits on aircraft was over 200. My personal favorite was a high speed baggage tug dragging several carts and the driver makes a sharp turn thus throwing himself out of the tug. And, as our intrepid driver collects road rash bouncing and rolling across the concrete, the now driverless tug and carts careen into another tug and carts. I'm guessing we aren't hiring our best and brightest for these jobs. But it is nice to know that those guys can just swipe a card to enter the airport secure area while 50% or better of pilots are getting tagged for additional screening.
  23. I was volunteered non-voluntarily to be a T-38 FAIP at Columbus in the magnolia state back the late 80s. I don't remember the students, I don't remember the class, I don't remember the year but I do remember the week or at least 3 days of it. On Wednesday, I had an engine fire. I am with a student and we are the good wingman doing a rejoin when lead says, "2, you are trailing smoke." How I missed the big glowing fire light, I do not know but we execute the boldface and the fire light takes its time to go out. Single engine home and all is right with the world. Thursday appeared with crappy weather and I launch on a contact ride with a student. In the weather, the right generator fails and the left does not pick up the right side. So it's a no-flap ASR to weather mins to get home. I don't get paid enough for this job. TGIF! Friday finds me on another formation ride headed out to the high sectors and at FL330, there's a thump noise, the cockpit fills with fog, and I'm pressure breathing with a cockpit pressurization failure. Sumanabache. Copious quantities of alcohol was consumed at the bar Friday night as my students were trying to tell me as nicely as they could that they didn't want to fly with me anymore.
  24. Jared Diamond wrote the book Guns, Germs, and Steel covering how some societies evolved and became dominant while others did not. He also wrote Collapse about civilizations that were but are no more plus societies that are in the process of failing. Haiti made that list. He compared the Dominican Republic on the other half of the island with Haiti and how one is thriving and the other is a teetering on the edge basket case. Was a participant in the near invasion of Haiti back in the day. We were only going to shoot target practice 30mm because the powers that be were worried we would set the slums on fire with no way to put the fires out. Obviously, the situation hasn't improved.
  25. Ancient Hawg Driver proverb: Where are your tanks, I will shoot them.
