  1. I inprocessed a brand new LM for LAO and opened a training folder after he graduated the FTU. Less than a week later I closed the folder because of, and learned about, TERA. He was on terminal leave less than a week after that. #winning?
  2. TERA has been active since the "great RIF" from NDAA FY2012 following the "great VSP" in early 2010s. TERA expires EoY FY25. https://www.af.mil/News/Photos/igphoto/2000923562/ https://www.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/495744/tera-program-offers-enlisted-officers-early-retirement/ The authority to utilize TERA until December 31, 2025 is for force-shaping of active military forces by that NDAA by law. Doesn't mean by policy applicants will be approved for TERA.
  3. Maybe for this reason/policy, now rescinded 5.3.3. REMOVED. 5.3.3. SQ/CC may waive 30 percent of the total and PAA flying hours required for upgrade to aircraft commander... This change of policy must've been for some [welcome] reason!? And I'm not saying that max efforts are a problem in that community, but it is a risk and training opportunity missed b/c of no FP max effort quals when it seems training and qualifications are priorities, but its also "additional" training (qual and beans) with inherent risk requiring flt hours. Its all about in-seat experience on both counts.
  4. MC-J vol 2, 5.4 Qualification, para. 5.4.1 "First Pilots (FP) should accomplish a maximum effort take-off and landing in order to maintain this qualification." Must suck to not "should" and learn for ~2 years or more...
  5. Ha. Figures. Herk was designed specifically for blown-lift aerodynamics - its' express design-goal was to enable a core mission. You telling me pilots cannot even accomplish, understand, and operate this basic mission which hasn't changed since ~23 Aug 1954!? Hahahaha. AF training policies are so broken and the bobs don't listen. However, the Ops-Mx slides will green up by this policy. #notwinning But seriously: energy management and constant angle theory are things that have consequences when mismanaged in landings. Maybe student pilots should be taught them...and the basic design and handling characteristics of their plane. Or perhaps I'm overthinking this...B2B anyone!? (≠born to bounce)
  6. https://www.pnj.com/story/news/crime/2025/07/30/molly-mersereau-gulf-breeze-high-school-teacher-arrested/85438300007/ Burner phone, teacher and student, Crime Stoppers call = drama First thing came to mind was South Park... ....but wait... @Biff_T?
  7. I would too if it was fully fielded MWS and working! About the working-MWS part, typically PA and gaggle would be all over an IOC and FOC publically making an announcement (watch out for it in the future, they just cannot resist, case in point. It might be cool then, till then seems it's not ready to kick-a...haven't seen the IOC/FOC PA gaggle. Probably 'accelerating' past only-TPS grads/OT-pilots hands into pre-pre-IOC at FTU. Seems an unsmart accelera'juon past reason based upon publicly released info. Also, why is the buy cut in half, again, for a second year in a row? https://www.airandspaceforces.com/socom-oa-1k-armed-overwatch-cut-2026/
  8. War Tractor...poor sap
  9. ...Yes...kinda. Insert here: Circle of Life and dumpster duck lesson.
  10. Safety is a Commander's program. Commanders ordered and approved the changes, what do you think?
  11. That's inside baseball bro! Cannot show the math, because then the sacred cows would be at risk [the blue sacred cow = AD process and structure, the undisclosed non-negotiable. Not even historic pilot attrition has fatally cracked it. Superficially cracked, yeah. ]
  12. In 2005-2007 pathway to wings was like: IFT your choice of civil school for PPL (40-50 flt hrs), then ENJJPT or JS/SUPT phases 1-3 (200-275 flt hrs depending upon Advanced turboprop track, T-1, or T-38) Later came IFT->IFS (reduced to solo). And ever since KPUB IFS has been a thing, right? Then chiefly came UPT-Next/2.0 (~55-65 in T-6) ultimately creating the present paper tiger. Winging at end of phase 2. Granted that ignores stray cats like XPW, etc.
  13. Remember legacy UPT could be the present UPT. UPT Next and UPT 2.0 was dubbed "UPT". So reverting back to Grandfather UPT, that snappy ole' reliable pappy, is to what they're refering?. ...the tried and true UPT version that stood for ~50 yrs!? That one, yes?
  14. Reminder: You get what you pay for!
  15. They're lowering the semester hours total required to graduate USAFA. Nothing to see there...wonder what class requisite(s) will be cut - perhaps Civics and/or Ethics? Elective like basket weaving?
  16. Re-created it in the sim today...mostly...weather (snow, vis, gusts), speed, VVI, flt idle, no flare, etc. It took alot to intentionally override my pilot-spidy senses and continue with die-hard, get-there-itis and drive the right main into the runway like a CBR Dynamic Cone Penetrometer test. Didn't red screen, snap-aileron wing-off roll however; poor simulating perhaps? Need to step up my game.
  17. Preemptive pardons are a novelty. So is a shadow governor using an autopen. It'll all probably go to SCOTUS, and perhaps for good reason.
  18. Nah, balls to the wall: US Seven Heaven Command. It could oversee EARTHCOM. That would send a message. True American Exceptionalism and a new manifest destiny. Accept no substitutes.
  19. And who is the integrator in this MOSA acquisitions architecture? Because the gov't has more than proven itself inefficient and costly behind any reasonable schedule. Also with performance vs requirements. Unfortunately, this system will break down until necessity becomes the mother of invention unto the national security imperatives; which would be an undesirable time. However, war will focus attention and productivity to its singular imperative. And so this will ebb and flow generationally. MOSA isn't the answer, prudence and discipline, the arduous path are, but humans are lazy and self-interested, even those in Command have turned this unto their favor. Thus the purge and attempt to restoration of prudence - today's trend. MOSA is a bandaid holding a hangnail.
  20. That $2.9M is unrealized. Instead it's doled-out month by month till death or SBP expiration. Until then it's all bird in bush potential. Live long, that retirement ages well and its FV increases over time with COLA - your body won't.
  21. I won't laugh when they fix the acquisition system and MAJCOM JCIDs/CONOPs by actually enforcing MAJCOMs supporting it with proper resources, holding vendors accountable with great technical data/operational test reports, and providing the necessary warfighter material on a reasonable timeline. This infers MAJCOMs doing their part ISO DoDI5000.89-DAF99-103 and DAFI 63-series... honestly, safely, quickly, and effectively with adept operator input. Get deep and serious into some long lead logistics and QFA! As Napoleon Bonaparte said, “Amateurs talk strategy. Professionals talk logistics”. USAF HQs are all strategy, no functional logistics. For example MC rates of...well, anything. Bobs cherry picking shit of their own interest without suitable and effective data backing the decision for the operators needs to stop. Where their report card!? Till then I laugh, as it's all reclaimed-water ball wash. What strategy is next? B2B!?
