  1. He's the reason I stopped being so wishy washy about retiring and hit the button. During the SOI re-write last year for the ACJ, we accomplished a 50% training reduction time.. on paper. We actually added a few events to the SOI, removed nothing, and pushed nothing to the squadron.

  2. I’ll follow up on my post though and say that something that could be a dangerous development, even over VHF voice channels, is did they use some sort of AI spoofing tech to closely match the voice of the on-shift controller? I saw that mentioned on Reddit. No idea if that’s what happened but that would actually be a concerning threat to civil aviation since VHF frequencies are not hard to access.

  3. Was this really a cyber attack, or just some terrorists who found their best English speaking pal to try and pretend to be ATC on the VHF frequency the El Al flight was already on?

  4. Just getting caught up on all this Alexei Navalny stuff. Horrible. I'm infuriated that a country like Russia would allow the persecution, imprisonment, and death while in captivity, of political dissidents. God forbid we ever go down that path.

  5. Zeppelin, Queen, Guns n Roses are all great for rock. Mix it up with some Jazz here and there--Louis Armstrong, Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, and Dave Koz. Beethoven or Linkin Park, it depends on the day.

  6. Passed-over Maj gkinnear checking in Yes...but in most cases, you can always retire. The old-school "brief" was direct about about it. "What if I have a rising senior, sick parents, etc?"...slide..."Feel free to retire". Unless the devil's money is holding you in, an O-6 has the trump card in their hand. I've only had a few glimpses into that rarified air, but I've seen assignment comments along the lines of "I want location X, Y, Z. I do not want A, and will retire if selected."...and the hiring GOs had an honest conversation about it. Ultimately, the new philosophy, to my understanding, is there is an assignment for everyone. GOs and Colonels are the main groups that actually get a retention effort. Baby GOs get selected from the O-6 kiddie DV pool...so the assignment train is necessary to get all the box-checking for pilots who've barely left the cockpit. I've got a few Navy and Army O-6 bros who did all things as young O-4s. One more data point how Big Blue sucks at all things Joint. Now, aside from the counter-point of view on the "Why," the Colonel's Group works that way...I'll end by saying you sound like a little bitch complaining about a system for O-6s...which guarantees an O-5 retirement at worst, with the added kicker of expanded career opportunities post-USAF. Congrats on your selection, congrats on your retirement, thank you for your service!

  7. “Reached for Comment President Putin said: Maybe it was something he ate.” That dude was on borrowed time. They already tried to kill him with nerve agents and the only reason he lived was evacuation for treatment out of Russia. Stones for going BACK to Russia to try and do something to push back at Putin. Not a lot of good it did for him unfortunately. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. lawman, you seem intelligent...but this border issue is a huge blindside for you. i'm not sure if it's just your party loyalty or if you honestly don't see it. biden has all the laws and tools to fix the border now if he wanted to. why won't he? politics. and new, illegal democratic voters. the border crisis is 100% on biden's hands. the evidence is there. factual evidence. there should be no compromise with a administration that is deliberately not doing their constitutional duty.

  9. You’re holding on too tight, you’ve lost the edge. The numbers don’t lie dude. Going 5X isn’t a rounding error. Actually kind of baffled by the last two pages of ‘debate’. Not sure why anybody would be opposed to tightening our borders, yet here we are…

  10. It must be being in my 40s or something, or I was just sick of playing the same old music (average guitarist here) but I’ve been doing a deep dive of the blues. Started when Jeff Beck passed on, led to discovering Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa (among many others) Lots of good blues artists out there besides the standard names and besides these two but here’s some of their best together. 13. You’re not wrong, but semantics are still at play. Up to 4999 rolling daily average and CBP keeps the border open. Only at 5000 average do they have the power to shut down the border (which is described as an “emergency” action and intended to be temp in nature). Or they could just shut down the border right now and leave it shut until we fix this disaster of epic proportions. We’re in a massive emergency situation, but the bill doesn’t support that fact until the daily average getting through is 5k+. In summary, this bill’s supporters are tacitly OK with 4999 daily average.

  14. Gang load the oxygen regulator, you’re suffering hypoxia. The people “tasked with doing something” is the current administration who’s ignored the law and opened the “door” and told every douchenozzle in the world to “come on in”.
