Hi there, Rated assignments just dropped and I was hoping for a pilot slot however I was picked up for an RPA slot. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about getting moved up into a pilot slot or what the next steps could be to move into the pilot career field. I really wanted a pilot slot so this news sucks however I will not give up. Thanks for any information anyone may have.

  7. Hello all, I am new to the flying squadron community. I am a current army helo pilot, CH-47s with 1000 hrs (two deployments - Afghanistan). I am approaching the end of my contract with the army in a couple of months and I've been looking at going Air Force Guard/Reserve. Would love to be able to transition to a heavy/cargo squadron. Looking for advice, suggestions or if someone would like to share their experience on going the unsponsored route. Unfortunately for me, I am 29 years old. I've been looking into going unsponsored, but I don't really know much about it. I recently took the AFOQT and TBAS. PCSM of 77 with a 87 Pilot. I have the hours so I am guessing I must of …

A few months ago I was w/ some friends at some kids ranch. The kid that owned the ranch was a friend of one of my friends. We were trying to find something to do when the kid who lived there said we could shoot his .22 at some targets he had posted on some hay bales. I was impartial to shooting b/c i have shot .22's many times in the past and wasn't anything special to me. We were shooting for a while, and when it became my turn, i passed. The kid kept trying to get me to shoot by calling me names and what not. So i said i would take one shot if he shut the hell up. He agreed, so i shot. The bullet passed through the target, through the hay bale, and towards an empty fiel…

Hello all, Got all my scores back today. Pretty disappointed. Probably going to re-take both AFOQT/TBAS again. My plan was to apply to both reserve units and ANG units. GPA: 2.66 in Marketing AFOQT pilot: 59 PCSM: 63 with 81 hours. Score estimated to be 67 if I can get to 100 flight hours. Recommendations: F15 pilot with confirmed MIG kill who can speak to my airmanship Ret. AF General who can speak to my work ethic Sr. Flight Instructor/owner who can speak to my airmanship/work ethic (I work at the flight school) I know for a fact I can get a better pilot score on the AFOQT. I'm trying to decide if I should just re-take i…

During the selection process, how much does the board weigh out speeding tickets (minor moving violations) on a candidate’s driving record? hmmm.... let's say two or three recent speeding tickets. Other than those tickets, there are no accidents or any other law violations.

  12. I was hesitant about posting here because due to my particular background and currently still being AD, it won't be too hard for people in my community to figure out who I am. That was dumb. I'm here to try and climb back in the cockpit, so people figuring out who I am doesn't matter one bit. I'm currently working on setting up applications for ANG Fighter Wings / Squadrons, but am not at all opposed to the Reserves or AD AF. I've tasted fighter life and having it snatched away for not being deemed qualified to land on a boat was a devastatingly humbling experience. It truly reoriented my world, however, through this adversity I've become laser focused and more determin…

  13. ATTN: Experts and Professionals that know everything about AD Rated Boards! (Posting for S/O)Here is my personal rundown: I am a non-tech major with a 3.6 GPA, I made a 78 on my Pilot and an 85 on my Nav. All of my AFOQT Scores are a 78/85/57/37/23. I took my TBAS Friday and made a 40 for my PCSM with no flight hours. I really am confused about how I made a 40 or how it is scaled because I thought I only missed 10 or less. I have a lot of leadership experience, community service, managing positions, etc. I am worried that my PCSM is going to ruin my chances despite the other scores and my personal packet. I really don't know if I would even be able to get en…

I am trying to figure out where I would fair for OTS and UPT selection and what I should focus on. I have recently contacted a recruiter but haven't heard anything back yet. 17. AFOQT: Pilot (94), Nav (77), Acad Aptitude (54), Verb (70), Quantitative (41) PCSM: 94 I am already a rated military pilot, and am looking to go blue. I am applying for an Air National Guard unit and just gathering all my paperwork up for their application packet. How do my numbers look after my first run of everything....keep in mind...I haven't been in college since 2008 which is probably why some scores were not to great.

Good afternoon, I'm currently a 21 year old (22 in October) working on my package to be submitted when I graduate from my university. I been in touch with a recruiter and he told me that the Air Force OTS Rated Slots are only looking for Stem Majors. I surfed the internet web and found contradicting statements regarding his claim. If the recruiter's statement is false, I have listed my credentials and experiences below. It would be awesome if you guys can give me some feedback on how to improve my chances of being selected. Age: 21 (22 in October 2017) GPA/Major: 3.36 (can raise it to 3.4 before graduation)/ Marketing AFOQT Scores: I have yet to take…

Hey all, Looks like I missed the cut on getting an interview with Oregon. So, I figured it's time to post one of these to try and get a better idea of my weaknesses and areas I can improve on. Of all the upcoming (fighter) boards this year, I figured this was one of my better shots of at least getting an interview, so looks like I have a lot of work to do. Any feedback is much appreciated! Hello everyone ! I recently decided to dedicate my whole heart and soul towards becoming a military pilot. Apologies if I'm being ignorant at any point or just straight up being dumb, I did a lot of research but there is still more to learn. Little background on myself : I am starting my sophomore year in college soon with a major in Biochemistry. Started my first semester on the wrong foot with a terrible 2.7 gpa but manage to raise it to 3.2 the following semester; and I plan on getting it much higher. Didn't really have the option to join ROTC or USAFA since I just got my citizenship this summer, and I didn't have the grades. With that in mind, my chances o…

  21. Basically the title. Over a year ago I was prescribed a anxiety medication after a death in the family and my 7 year relationship breaking off. I only used it for less than 3 months, and I have a records stating that I'm in perfectly clean mental health now and it was just that time period...does anyone know if this prevents me from becoming a pilot? Thanks.

Hey Friends. Can't believe they're pushing us old timers through the system this year and figured if ever it was my year, this is it. Some feedback on my package is appreciated - I really have no idea what this board is going to look like! I assume I'll work the ancillaries (strats, etc) into the 215 bullets since no ROP makes it to the board. Anyone else hitting UFT this year and want to share some tips? I appreciate you all! 32 years old in November, looking at 11, RPA, then ABM and CSO (in that order.) No health/medical waivers. Excellent (95+) PT history. 24. Last year (2010) I got into some trouble with the AF. Underage drinking. I was 20 years old, an E3. It happened off base, and it was later thrown out in court. The following duty day after it happened, I went to my first shirt and told her what happened. The commander and stuff got involved, but in the end all I got was an LOR. I wrote a rebuttal (which my shop chief read just today, and gave me props to how well written it was) and pretty much just told my commander what happened. I was at a nearby college, and wanted to make some friends, so I had a few drinks. At the end of the night I realized that I was NOT okay to drive, so I slept in my car, and a police officer fo…

Here we go: I know this is a longshot, but if I can envision it, I'm going to make them tell me no or die trying. I got into UPT a short while ago via the active duty UFT board. Into Phase II, I self eliminated. I had a good reason: my spouse has a specialized career and requires re-credentialing with every PCS which results in 3-6 month processes per move and lots of out of pocket fees, which wasn't sustainable over a period of 10 additional years. Additionally, I have a sick grandparent and FIL, and my spouse and I both felt it was a priority to move closer to home. Yes, I'm looking to go back to UPT via a Guard or Reserve unit. Yes, I'll need an ETP sin…
