Hello everyone, I am hoping to get an Active Duty UPT slot in the next board. I am 29, and will have my degree (Business Management) by March of 2021. I took the AFOQT in October, my pilot subsection was not as good as I had hoped, I am thinking because of my math (I timed out of quite a few questions). My scores were as follows: Pilot: 67 Nav: 56 Acad: 61 Verbal: 76 Quant: 46 I took my TBAS last week and I am in the 61-80 flight hours section with a PCSM of 72 (85 in the 201 and up column) In my degree program I have a 4.0, however a previous college transcript I have quite a few W's that I think are going to lower my GPA, not 100…

  2. Hello all! I’m going to make this clear and concise. - 30 years old - BA in Sociology - 3.0 - AFOQT - 93 Pilot, 96 Nav, 63 Verbal, 49 Acad Aptitude, 39 Quant - PCSM - 71 w/ 22 hrs, 91 w/ 201+ - Have great LORS - I feel like I have a pretty strong CL and a so-so resume - Submitted 4 apps so far for the Guard- 2 fighter squadrons, 2 heavies Thinking about retaking the TBAS in 6 months if I don’t get any interviews. All opinions on how I’m looking are appreciated.

  3. Hello all! Stoked to finally be here typing this and possibly start this process. Army Guard RLO looking at going the AFR route through the civil path to wings program. Was in new hire airline training last January when we got sent home from COVID. Volunteered for a CONUS deployment that I am about half way through to weather the storm. I've already been recalled and am now on mil leave, but looking to head back to my regional to knock out the ATP prior to transitioning to the AF. From hearing other's timelines, it sounds like that shouldn't be an issue. Age: 27 Clemson University: Management GPA: 3.33 AFOQT: P99/N90/AA81/V78/Q74 PCSM:…

  4. About a year ago I had highly competitive scores and was getting guard/reserve fighter squadron interviews left and right. While I never got picked up, I felt that eventually I would get a slot. ...fast forward to today: I was turned down from even getting an interview at a fighter board where I interviewed a year prior and was in the top third of interviewees, I was turned down from the active duty board, and I am not even getting heavy squadron interviews anymore. I have a hunch that there are a few others in my position as well, so I might as well ask this question as broadly as possible: What can we do to improve our chances? The common feedback that …

Long story short, Current MSgt AGR, Work at a bomb range (non flying wing). Recently completed my Bachelors. 11 years in, DSG from 2010-2016, AGR since. Have been able to be exposed to all types of aviation due to my current job. Have recently (2019) decided that pursuing an aviation career is what I want. I should finish my PPL this spring. I have sacrificed a lot to get it done. I know a lot of the pilots in my state, have a good reputation. 65 Pilot Afoqt, 50 PCSM (41 hrs) 56 when I hit 60-80 Hours. Due to money I will probably finish around 60 hours. I've got great Letters of recommendation from leadership all over my state. I am decorated and feel like I interview we…

  7. In my tenure I’ve seen the UPT starting age go from 27 to 30 to maybe 33? What is the latest gouge? Is 33 the limit? Are waivers likely or unlikely? My unit is accepting packages right now and they just want to make sure they aren’t turning away qualified candidates.

This is my first post here. I am currently in an Army Unit as an ANG enlisted guy. I'm no longer at a Wing, so I have limited resources available to talk to not only AF guys, but also Pilots. I am bound in a 3 year tour with this unit (2 left), but I want to get on the power curve early to make any changes to make myself more marketable. The following are my stats. Current stats- Age: 23 AFOQT: 98 Pilot, 70 Nav, Mid 80s everything else PCSM: 78 Flight Hours: 14 Degree: A.A.S. in Emergency Management (Graduate in May with a B.A. in Emergency Management) Misc: ALS, NCOA, Eagle Scout, SSgt By the time 1st AGR tour is done (**denotes 50/50 chance)- Age: 25 a…

After my TBAS and AFOQT, I ended up with a 93 Pilot, 75 NAV and 52 PCSM with 0 flight hours. 200+ Hours puts me at 90. I have 2 now so Im bumped to a 57, but it seems like the newer format really focuses on flight hours. I'm young so theres a decent chance I'll see 200 hours before im too old to apply for boards. However, does anyone have a decent understanding on how the scoring works? Would it really be worth it to go back and take the TBAS again? Any input is appreciated.

  12. Ladies and Gents, I'm currently active duty USAF. I'm doing my level best to earn a pilot slot. I'm not keeping my eggs all in one basket. I'm looking at active USAF as well as ANG/AFRES. I'm also looking at the USMC. I haven't heard a whole lot from the USN. I'm studying Aeronautics at ERAU and my grad date is April 2019. That would put me at 30. Before graduating, I'm looking at going to ground school as well as getting at least 10 flight hours under my belt to improve my PCSM score. This is the dream. All that being said, I could potentially transfer to another university that will potentially put my grad date in April/May 2018. But, haven't hear…

  13. Hey everyone, First timer here, thanks in advance for reading my post. I'll be applying to the Civilian AD OTS Boards here shortly, 19OT02 applications are due in January. I'll be 27 by the time the board sees my package and I'm applying for Pilot/CSO/RPA/ABM. Current AFOQT Scores: P 93, N 88, AA 38, V 62, Q 21, ABM/CSO 83/88 PCSM: 70 w/ 3 flying hours. Aiming for at least 6 or 11 hours. Max is 98. I'll be graduating this December with a degree in Homeland Security, GPA 3.16 I consistently volunteer and make eff…

Hey y'all, coming up on about 9 months of apps and interviews. Three interviews so far, no takers, one alternate. Just wondering from those in the know, if I should retake the AFOQT. Here's the breakdown. Looking for fighters. P92 / N83 / AA74 / V88 / Q56 PCSM: 93 210 hours, soon to be CFI. Working to improve my overall app and interviewing skills, but I'm on the fence about retaking the AFOQT. Any insight appreciated.

I’m highly interested in flying for the ANG; I do not care what I fly or where, I would just be grateful for a slot. I’m currently 24 and have just under 4,000 hours of flight time and work for a regional airline. I also have a high GPA (3.9) With that being said I made the stupid decision to drink and drive when I was 21. I’ve since completed probation, completed various alcohol classes and have abstained from alcohol since. I wear contacts for -2.25 astigmatism, but otherwise have healthy eyes. Is it worth it for me to begin studying and take the AFOQT? Am I better off contacting an ANG recruiter or calling each squadron separately? I appreciate all i…

Also, I took my first two years at community college so will I need to send both transcripts or just from the degree granting university? Thanks for all the help!

Starting with where I am at: I am turning 29 in December I am on track to graduate with a bachelors in Business Management in July of 2021 (if I keep it up with a 4.0 GPA) Studying my a** off for the AFOQT as well as trying to hone TBAS skills, exam scheduled 2nd week of October. I have about 15 flight hours, gaining at about 5/week and hoping to be in the 41-60 slot by November (weather permitting, lots of smoke in CA creating lots of IFR) I originally swore into an enlisted reserve position, however, I never shippe…
