I know the cutoff is 30 but does anyone have any experience or knowledge of NGB and how strict or not they are about pushing an age waiver through? The problem would not be with the unit I’m just wondering about NGB approval. About me... Turning 29 in 2 weeks. Will have PRK done in a month so I understand I have a year out to wait for my flight physical. Will be 30 during AMS & IFT

Hi guys, been lurking around the forums for a while and have decided it's time to start taking things a bit more seriously. A little bit about myself - I'm beginning my 4th semester out of a 6 semester Bachelors Degree (Construction Engineering - 3.97 cGPA, AGC chapter VP, Pre-Law Club, Competition Leader Student) at a school without AFROTC and at my time of graduation, I will be 20 years old. Ideally, I would like to commission into either the ANG or Active USAF as a CSO/ABM (I know it's not popular, but I'd love to talk to some ABMs about the field as well) or into one of the Engineering/Construction Officer AFSCs. The general consensus I have gathered is to start sp…

Just curious if anyone has seen an AGR Officer curtail their orders successfully. If so how much time did they curtail/serve of their set of orders?

Two positions on the street right now. MVA #021-18 is a flying position for an 11F/12F. MVA #020-18 is a non-flying position for an 11F. Both close out on 7 December. Your primary job is a planner. For the flying position you are generally allowed to go TDY a week a month to the unit of your choice for currency. Feel free to send a PM if you have questions. https://www.125fw.ang.af.mil/Careers

As the title suggest, is there best way to find available flying AGR positions? Just call the units? I read the discussion of ART positions switching to AGR positions so it seems like there "should" be more AGR spots available. Seeing as how I'm still learning Air Force-isms, I'm not for sure where exactly to look or who to talk to. 8 of my 13 years flying in the Navy has been working in the reserve world which makes me want to find an AGR spot to keep the reserve vibe going, just having a helluva time finding said AGR spots!

Question for any AGR's: If you are hired in to a "Major" position as a TR Major, are you not eligible for promotion to LTC (w/7 years in grade as Maj) while in that position (ie. do you have to wait until that 4 year AGR tour is over and find a LTC position to actually Pin-on LTC)? Also....any idea if the bonus is available to UAS pilots? Thanks

I'm currently 98 days out from graduation from the zoo (who's counting) and I want to go to the guard. I've got a pilot slot already, and we're all finding out bases tomorrow. I read the AFI that says Academy dudes have to serve their ADSC before being eligible for the guard, but I was thinking Uncle Sam is a little fat around the waist with officers and maybe there's a chance here. Looking for a Viper slot out of Buckley in Denver. I do know very important people in the Colorado guard right now, not sure if that counts for a damn thing...Anyway, thoughts?

Could someone enlighten me on what it’s like to fly AF helos in the guard? I only see a few units that do it. What would it be like to do that part time? Does that require a lot more time to stay current? Could you have a civilian airline career with a helo guard unit? Thank you!

This is a cross post from rotc. I'm in in college and thinking of joining the California Air National Guard to help pay for college since I'm too old to get an AF-ROTC scholarships (I'm 32). My plan is to do AF-ROTC and Air Guard at the same time. I was told some AF-ROTC dtachments take the Air Guard's 422/IMR in place of DoDMerb medical exam and I want to get the opinion of those who's detachments allowed them to do this. Was it difficult to get your detachment to take 422/IMR? I spoke to the 3 detachments near me here in Los Angeles and they all told me they didnt know if they would take the 422/IMR so that made it seem like it was a tough sell.…

ARTs or people in the know out there- I have searched high and low to no avail. Maybe I can't operate google or the search function too well, but this topic seems to have limited (zero) coverage. I am currently deployed and my access to my home station CPO is fairly limited. Besides that, they have shown limited knowledge on the very thing they are supposedly experts in (shocking). My questions are very specific so I won't bore TRs and the casual viewer with a long post so please PM if you can assist. Thanks. TW

Hello guys, I enlisted into an F-16 ANG unit and chose aircrew resource management as my career field. I read here on baseops that lifesupport, intelligence, avionics were also good options, but they were not open when I applied. Working with aircrew appeals to me since I eventually want to fly for the unit I enlisted into. I would like to know more about aircrew resource management from anyone who may have some insight. How often do they deploy? What are deployments like? Do anyone know of an aircrew resource guy who earned a pilot slot?

If you had a choice between a Reserve C-130J squadron or KC-46 squadron and location wasn't a factor, what would you choose?

Hey All, I recently got hired by a heavy squadron and will he reporting to training in late 2021/early 2022 (estimated by unit). I currently have a civilian job, and have about 1100 hours I got through being a part-time CFI. Since I have to wait longer than I anticipated, I am probably going to try to get a regional job at PSA, Peidmont, or Envoy (hopefully hiring picks back up in the spring if not sooner). These airlines have a flow through program to American Airlines. Some (such as peidmont) flow through based only on time at the company and not FO or Captain time or other flying hour requirements. My unit told me that I can be gone up to 3-5 …

I am currently at an airline and in the process of applying to the Air National Guard. From all I've read Officer School, UPT, B-course, and seasoning are exempt from the 5 year USERRA rule. My main question is are there any loopholes in the system that could become problematic later on? Such as being forced to switch from part time to full time? Possibly medically DQ after getting wings and needing to transition to another job in the ANG for your 10 year commitment? The list of scenarios could go on, but I just want to be absolutely sure I am not putting my civilian career at risk by pursuing this dream. Thanks so much!

Florida ANG fighter wing has an alert detachment in homestead florida. Anyone here know how the alert detachment thing works? There are several other units that I am considering that have them...most of the time they seem to be in the better of the two locations. Do newbie pilots generally stay with the main base or what? Anyone from Florida who can help me out? Homestead is so close to Miami and man that sounds nice... Thanks!

I'm trying to keep this short. I think as many may know for most of the last 2 years, it was very difficult to get visits/rushing opportunities to units due to COVID. It seems like by summer of this year, units started to soften their restrictions and begun allowing rushing opportunities. Anyway, I've been trying to rush Heavy Units largely in the Northeast. That's where I am from, plus I play hockey and love the fall/autumn. I have had two units where I had multiple visits with and turn an app but not selected for an interview. Neither unit was able to give me feed back. Both basically said they had received too many apps and can't give everyone feed back. Now this …

Hello, I feel ive searched this post pretty thoroughly but cant find an answer to my question. Does the ANG have a requirement that states you can have no more than 5 yrs of commissioned service( any branch) prior to going to UPT. I know AD and the reserves have such a rule refered to as TFSCD and it almost impossible to get a wiaver for . Thanks

How is the crew chief position in the ANG? Anyone willing to provide some info on what the job is like. My local unit flies fighters but I'm looking for feedback from any airframe. I've read the info listed on about.military.com I'm just looking for someone's opinion on the job. The good and bad. Thanks

Hey all. I previously had a thread on here about how to get hired non prior to UPT with a unit. From that information, I wonder how that applies specifically to fighter units. Is it enough to have a good GPA, good AFOQT/TBAS scores, all the pre reqs along with a PPL to realistically obtain a job with a unit? I saw units like the 115th of the California ANG are interviewing and hiring for pilots, but I wonder how important it is to be in the unit already? Just trying to gauge the right path to go to pursue this. I will be graduating next May 2016, so the sooner I know the better! Thanks
