Hey everyone. I just have a question about UPT and AMS dates. My unit currently has 2 upt slots for June 05 and two for July 05. A few of the guys i've talked two in the unit say its possible that i could go to UPT during one of those months. The question I have is, does our AMS date depend on when our UPT date is? or Do we get our AMS date taken care of first than the UPT date? I would appreciate any input. If this doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll try to clarify.

Looking for any advice/insight on an offer I'm considering. I'm a DSG with full time orders in a program that doesn't have a certain future, but would most likely last at least 2-3 years. I'm still a ways off from retirement, ~14 years to go, O-3 looking to pin on O-4 next year. I've been offered the Wing XP position, but they are switching it from a AGR position to a Technician Position to save on resources. It will be a GS-13 position, not sure of what step. I'll maintain being a DSG with current unit and still drill and fly when able. If anyone has any experience with any of these variable's to help me make a decision, I'd appreciate it. I don't think either scenario …

Trying to make sure I understand the finer points of ANG/AFRC retirement policies. If this has already been asked/answered, please vector me onto this. I know that someone who has 20+ years of service qualifies for a retirement at age 60 (minus activated time in the ARC in 3-month blocks). My understanding is that if someone completes a total of 20+ years of active service between AD and/or on orders/AGR in the ARC, they qualify to draw retirement pay at the time of their retirement. (I.e., 16 years active component + 4 years on full time orders). Is this correct? I know having 7200+ points isn’t sufficient for an AD retirement without 20 years active service, an…

It appears that the other "upcoming boards" thread was removed or has disappeared? If I'm wrong then mod's feel free to delete this thread or merge, but otherwise... In other news, 104th recruiters say letters and call's should go out this week. Best of luck to all.

I'm considering doing Palace Chase with the hope of getting a Guard UPT slot. I'm intel school right now. I love it, but my dream since boyhood has been to fly (dad's a Viper pilot, g-pa was a Thunderbird). Has anyone else done this? What is the process like? Anything I can do that would help?

I want to get an idea of how long things take (training date wise) for people who get hired from a guard/reserve unit. I understand that there are many factors invovled (waivers, holidays, guard bureau workload, etc...) could everyone post how long it took to get dates and what dates they got at what time? This could give new hires a rough estimate of what kind of time frame they're looking at for their training. Here's my info: Hire date: June 2009 (for fiscal year 2011) Package submitted to guard bureau: October 2009 Brooks dates received: 16 December 2009 MFS at Brooks: 5 Jan 2010 As of now I still haven't received any dates for AMS, IFS or UPT It'…

So board deadline is out; May 31st. Seems like we'll all have plenty of time before submitting, right?....wrong? Thanks to the FCI base change to Wright Patterson. Seeing where everyone stands and who will be submitting to this board along with myself. Heard a few people already received FCI dates at Wright Patt for April 25.

I know the board is still quite a few months away, but I am curious if anyone can shed some advice on this for me. I have been told that the boards are continually getting more and more competitive so I am wondering if anyone could give me an idea of my chances. I do plan on taking the AFOQT again, but was curious about what scores they focus on.....ex: just pilot or all together? When I do increase the verbal (yes, I know it was pretty low... guess I should have focused on those besides Aviation) will it raise the others? I also, plan on taking the PCSM again after the AFOQT. GPA 3.64 Pilot 90 Nav 50 Verb 13 AA 30 Quan 52 PCSM 67 Age 27, female, BS in Aviat…

This one's gonna hurt, boys and girls.... https://www.afrc.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123288641 Here's a summary of the changes: "Barksdale AFB, La. - Drawdown one Air Force Reserve Command squadron by retiring 18 A-10 aircraft as part of the FY13 president's budget. Also, retire three other A-10s in fiscal 13 that were previously slated for retirement and awaiting to be transferred. Transfer three remaining A-10s to Whiteman AFB, Mo. End the active associate unit that hosts Regular Air Force Airmen and flies A-10 aircraft with the AFRC A-10 squadron The Air Force Reserve unit that flies B-52 aircraft remains operational at Barksdale. This seems to be a difficult question to search for. If I have missed a relevant thread I apologize. I'm looking for real world examples of guard or reserve pilots (traditional part time) schedule/life set up. I know after seasoning I'll be making around 10-15K a year and committed to 6-8 days a month. Right now I'm planning on supplementing my wifes income with CFI work, some freelance website building, doing the house work/watching the kids, etc. I have thought about the Airline/ANG combo and I just think that is too many days away from home for me, especially when you consider a commute (looking at around 20days away from home at a min right?). But I'm wonderin…

I have done a search on “unsponsored slots” and have found a lot of useful info. However, I can’t find the answer to this Question: say I go to the AFRES HQ board unsponsored and get a slot. Do I have a time limit to find a unit to call “home” or can I take my sweet A$$ time and wait until the unit I want is look for UPT’s

Hello, Could someone please shed some light on the process of transfering ANG units. If you are sponsored by a unit but haven't attended UPT yet can you transfer units? Would you do this before UPT, while there, or after UPT? Can you transfer from the ANG to the AFR, or visa versa? I'm not in this situation but was wondering what logistics are involved. Thank you

Hi, i am writing because I was wondering what the best enlisted job is in the guard involving the flying and aviation. I am interested in loadmaster on c-130's. I am also interested in crew chief or life support on f-15's. Any info would be great on what these different jobs have to offer. thanks

I am an enlisted guy who is going up for the home unit soon. I kept my mouth shut for the most part since I was a punk kid and my mil father advised me to, however, I am starting to wonder if I stayed to quiet? I have been told by some of my recs that I need to make sure that I socialize with the pilots. Anybody have any advice about how to act in the situations leading up to interview time.

BLUF: Is it worth completing ACSC before separating AD and going to the Guard? I'll be leaving AD for an instructor pilot ART position later this year, and I have a line number for Major. Is it worth the effort to try and knock out ACSC before I switch over? I hope to eventually get an AGR position with the unit, so I plan on being in place for a while once I get there. Is it smarter to get it done now, or wait until later? Or is it even worth completing at all at this point? As far as career aspirations, I'm not exactly motivated by obtaining a senior leadership position, and the airlines aren't really an option (RPA). Thanks for any feedback!

So I decided to start a new topic based on a discussion in the Bonus thread regarding the new technician/ART pay tables. As a 14 year technician who served as a technician from Jan 07-about three weeks ago, I’m happy progress was finally made, even if I’ll never see it. Some comments were made about TAG buy-in and such. But, the way I read it, it looks like it applies to multiple agencies (to include the Department of the AIr Force). Here’s the letter if you haven’t seen it: And the pay tables can be found here by scrolling down to tables 0759-0767. https:// https://apps.opm.gov/SpecialRates/2018/AllSRTables.aspx So, since it’s the new OPM pay table and…

Hi, I admit this is kind of a "what are my chances" question, but not really. Please read my entire question before removing it. I am graduating high school this year. I've thoroughly exhausted all of the forums on this website and I am an expert on the ANG pilot selection process works and how to get there. First of all, I have recently taken the ASVAB and I have found out I have very high scores, enough to get the job I want when I enlist in the ANG-Aircrew Flight Equipment(life support specialist). I want this job so that I can have tons of face time with the pilots so they can know me. I thought this job would be best. I know everything else about how to become a pilo…
