Pilot Selection Process

I took the AFOQT last year and did really well in my Pilot (93) but sucked in every other category (44-Nav, 36-Academic, 28-Verbal and 47- quantitive). I studied for the test using some test prep books and the online practice questions but still managed to underestimate it and score poorly. The hardest part of the test for me was the first 3 sections (Verbal Analogies, Arithmetic Reasoning, and Word Knowledge) I can guarantee that these were the sections that destroyed my scores because everything else seemed relatively easy. AF24 states, "AFOQT SCORES (Only AFTCOs or Unit Commanders are authorized to enter scores)." Obviously this seems to state I cannot enter my scores on my own for this form. Does anyone have some better info on filling this out? I ask because I have worked with two recruiters and they have both been incredibly non responsive. I would really prefer to not have to try to track them down just to have my scores entered. Has anyone entered these themselves? Where any issues brought from this?

I am going to visit a unit soon and would like to know some do and don't during the visit as well as what to wear and bring along with me. Thank you in advance for any advice.

I see that Vermont is hiring for F-35 pilots. Vermont is one of my top choices for a guard unit. I have 90 college credits because I changed my major after my sophomore year and had to repeat my sophomore year to study the survey courses of my new major. Also I transferred from Community College to a University and they had a few more gen eds that community college didn't require. Even though I won't likely get hired, I was wonder if it's worth applying so they will get to know me and then after my senior year I can apply again to get hired. I plan on taking the AFOQT in the next month or two. I know the deadline is March 31st.

I am a prior enlisted aviator and was wondering if my RPA Sensor Operator hours can count towards my PCSM. I have read multiple posts about aeronautical rating doesn't matter. Is their a work around to this? I contacted the PCSM Office, but I feel they were quick to say no. What is everyone's thoughts?

Hello fellow pilots! I am searching for people with information on my dillema. To sum up my situation, it's been my lifelong dream to fly military. My vision started downhill as a high school senior. I therefore pursued civilian flying and obtained my BS degree in Aviation. I have my commercial-instrument and multi (now working on CFI) with over 500 hours (100 being multi). I just recently discovered that laser correction surgery was now allowed for military pilots so, being determined to find a way in, I had PRK two weeks ago. So far I'm at 20/20 and improving! Going to IFS this summer and starting UPT at Columbus this Nov. Does anybody know details about what IFS is like?

I'm currently a junior and high school and I've had the eagerness to become a fighter pilot since I can remember. A little bit about me: weighted 4.5 GPA, soccer for all 3 years so far including have been captain of my team, involved in student body leadership, top 10% of my class, and plenty of community service. My question is what is the best way for me to become a fighter pilot? I know currently there is a shortage of fighter pilots in the air force, but a navy pilot has told me that if I took the navy route I'd have a higher chance at fighters because that's mainly what the navy flies. I am a pilot select waiting to go to OTS and am wanting to prepare for UPT as much as possible. I am currently working out preparing for OTS but was wondering at the beginning of UPT if I'm wanting to go fighter/bomber do I have to lift a certain amount of weight to qualify? Currently I'm not lifting heavy but will start if I need to qualify

Just wondering if there is a specific way that letters of intent/cover letters and letters of recommendation should be addressed when applying to guard units. For example, should it be addressed the the squadron vs the wing? Any info would be much appreciated!

Hey, I looked around and haven't really found any information directly related to unsponsored UPT students who haven't found a unit being assigned a unit. So I was selected with a Primary Unsponsored slot and was under the impression that if an Unsponsored candidate does not find a unit to sponsor them, then the Air Force will find a unit for them. Does anyone know or witnessed an unsponsored UPT student have their unit selected for them because they did not find a unit, how did it work? Any interservice transfer people have any experience shaking their ADSO or know anyone who has? I'm active Army and I'm trying to get them to waive my ADSO. I know it's a cold shot in hell that's why im asking for someone with a silver tongue or someone who knows the system.

Is it possible to get selected and subsequently switch to a reserve or guard unit before you leave for OTS if you get an active duty pilot slot? Background info, I have been applying to guard and reserve jobs for about 2 years now and while that is definitely my preference, I would like to get in the air as soon as possible so now I am considering going active. My recruiter informed me that its about a 1.5 -2 year wait to start training even for active. So I was wondering if I should still apply to units in the meantime while I am waiting for things to happen on the active side of things, or if doing so would burn any bridges. Hey all. Does anyone have any SA on if there is any possibility whatsoever to re-take the TBAS a third time by waiver? I know you can get a waiver to re-take the AFOQT a third time, but was not aware if there was a way to get one for the TBAS. Thanks!

Hi all, I was selected as a pilot in the 18OT01 board and have a tentative 19-03 OTS class placement. I have seen a lot of talk of young lieutenants being put on casual status for a while (sometimes multiple months) before starting UPT. I know everyone's situation is going to be different and there is no way to predict the future, but does anyone have any insight into the average wait for a UPT class after graduating OTS?

Hello all,I plan on applying for the 18OT02 active duty board and had a question. I want to apply for a rated slot but because I got hit with a surprise deployment in July of this year I have not been able to take the TBAS as required to apply for rated. As such, I plan on applying for this next board as a non rated applicant on the advice of my chief saying that I can also try to become a pilot after OTS selection and that now would be the best time for me as we have the support of my group leadership and above to get the 2star to sign off on my LOR and that may change by the time the next AD board rolls around because our group leadership will have changed. Congratulations to all of those who got picked up for UFT 2017. You guys/gals earned every bit of it. Overall, a great year for the applicants. I am starting this new thread, not to hijack the 2017 UFT Active Duty thread that is already filled with valuable information, but to posture for the upcoming UFT 2018 AD boards that some may find useful--organization wise. Studying for the AFOQT and having trouble finding great study information for the Aviation Knowledge section... Has anyone found a useful resource that will actually help prepare someone to crush that section? I have zero flying hours, will work on my PPL once I get home from my deployment, so that route for knowledge won't work for me. Preparing for the 2019 AD UPT Board.

When developing your package in ROTC for the Active Duty board, are there any factors that are put into your package that are outside of ROTC? Things like being a president of a student organization or any other type of leadership position. Was just curious so that I can prepare for the future.
