I got my RIP for Corpus the other day and saw I was going to VT-31 (which has the actual T-44). I've been told by some guys to try and get to VT-35 and do C-12s. Other than the obvious differences between the aircraft, is there and difference in training or benefits in trying to train in one over the other?

It is with great sadness that I inform you SSgt Timothy P. Davis, 23 STS Combat Controller, was killed in Action today supporting operations in OEF when the vehicle he was riding in was struck by an IED. Memorial and funeral yet TBD. Rest in Peace Young Warrior....

I'm giving this some serious thought...feeling I may be vulnerable for a 365 soon anyway, so I want to pick something I might actually enjoy doing...something new and different, something challenging and rewarding. And some may call me crazy, but Iraqi UPT in Cessna 172s and Caravans...now THAT's something different and may be a good change of pace for me. I've seen a couple mentions from hueypilot182 about doing the Herk training for the Iraqis, and that's a possibility too since I'm a Herk guy. Anyone with first or maybe second-hand knowledge of these gigs, please let me know

I've run into a bit of trouble processing ICM/AFGM/GWOT-Es and hoped some of the wiser folks out there might be able to help me out. For the last two years I've been submitting people for these medals as they reach the magic 60 non-consecutive days in or over country required by the regulations. Because we (C-17s) don't stay in country we've been counting dates for each medal as we visit either Iraq or Afghanistan. We, of course, don't count the same date twice but if we go to Iraq during one CDD/FDP and to Afghanistan on the next CDD/FDP we've been giving credit for both. Just was wondering what some really cool airframes are out there and interesting jobs such as the B-1 "BONE" or the B-52, anybody out there with experience in airframes that they loved that can share some info on certain ones?

We've had a few guys go from -10s to the E-4 in the past couple of years, and was wondering what life is like in the E-4. Can anyone here shed a little light? I'm just looking for the standard: quality of life, TDY rate, the mission, length of tour, etc. I'm guessing they do a fair amount of sitting alert. No joy on the search. Thanks for the help. If I setup an allotment through mypay, whatever amount I sign up for does it take it out of one pay period or split between 2? I am trying to set it up online and it says it will be reflected in my 15 Feb pay. Is that half on the 15th and half on the 30th or all of it on the 15th?

Has anyone out there used them to order patches from and were you happy with the results? How do they compare to Mardon?

I apologize, I'm a complete n00b at this. I just can't find my regular dress slacks for some formal meeting tonight (I dunno where the heck it went). I'm wondering if it's against regs to wear my AF blues slacks if I'm wearing a civilian belt, civilian shirt, civilian tie, and dress shoes. Thanks.

I am currently working on my masters thesis in engineering management and trying to lock onto a topic right now. My advisor developed a heuristic for process scheduling based on priority versus deadlines and wants me to help him see if it apply's to and how how well it works in non-manufacturing related processes. So here are my preliminary questions... 1) What method does the AF use to schedule it's flights (software,etc)? 2) Is the method standard for both training environments and real missions? 3) Are there any significant problems that arise with the way scheduling is currently done? so headed to the sandbox for the first time. Looking to make it my version of fatcamp..loose a little weight..work out etc. Anyone have any good tips for losing some weight over in the des. while flying? How do I eat healthy at the DFAC? Do they cook plain chicken breasts etc? I know a lot of guys end up losing a good amount of weight. Any tips/ eating plans appreciated!

Quick question....I was an enlisted aircrew member and I am off to AMS in the near future and then off to UPT. I read AFI 36-2903 and all it says about wings is that they are mandatory. Do I wear them on my service dress before I earn my Pilot's wing's or are they a no-go?

Just released across the AP Wire... HAVELOCK, N.C. — Rescuers are at the scene of a jet fighter crash near the Marine Corps' Cherry Point air station in eastern North Carolina. Officials at the base say there is no word yet on the condition of the aircraft's pilot. Cherry Point spokeswoman Gunnery Sgt. How hard is it for a pilot/rated officer (with 96 gate months met and 2 masters degrees) to get an assignment to the Academy? is it easier as an academic instuctor? or flight instructor? is it possible to do both? Will volunteering for some bad assignment, allow me to get there afterwards? Thanks in advance.

I would really like to get my hands on an HGU-55 Flight Helmet and mask assembly. I have been to GENTEX and EBAY, but I figured I'd check on here first before I buy. I would like to purchase these items for my aviation collection. This would be a great addition. What happens to old used equipment? Pilots keep them for their collection? If any of you dudes have any that you would part with, PM me and we will talk about pricing. New O-5 here with lots of C-5 and airline time and bad habits going to Altus early next year and transitioning to the C-17. Do any of you C-5 guys that have transitioned have any thoughts on how to make it easier? What's important to study? I've heard all the horror stories about back side flying. How's Barney behind the tanker? Is the HUDD wierd to get used to? NVGs? Assaults? I liked the C-5, but it was pretty much big concrete to big concrete. I'll sit back with a J/C and read your replies. I'm not going to start a poll because - no offense to anybody who has started a poll, but - polls are gay. I want to know how often young individuals in the Air Force are mentored. I'm not talking about mentoring in the sense of slamming a guy up against the wall and putting a 3000 PSI finger in his chest, I'm talking about - has a SQ/CC, FL/CC, hell...even a 2FL....ever sat you down and mentored you? Has he asked you what you want to do with your AF career? Has he explained to you how the AFPC process works and why you should be smart on it? Has he explained to you why you should take 6-9 minutes a week to scribble down accomplishments to later hand in to your sup…
