No this is not a VSP question. I have a couple questions after digging through AFI36-3207 on Officer Separations. My ADSC ends on 1 Sep and I'm looking to start a full-time MBA program when I separate. I found this section in the AFI about going to school. If I'm reading that correctly, if the school I get accepted to starts the fall semester on 25 Aug I could separate under this clause and start the semester even though my ADSC isn't complete until 1 Sep. Is that correct? Assuming I'd been enrolled and pay the tuition. If not, my other question is how far out can you request a separation date into the future? Throughout the reg I keep seeing that you mus…

My RA is telling me that AF mission planning tables, that are countertop height, no longer exist......I've attempted a quick search of comerical vendors and short of custom builds it seems like no one makes these tables. How is it possible that the AF has thousands of these tables, but no clue where they came from? Has anyone worked with or purchased these tables recently? Thanks

  7. Did a search and only found a couple posts from 5 years back or so regarding the time between UPT graduation and follow on training. I'll be graduating UPT here in June of 2013 and am planning on getting married shortly after (like the weekend after). I'm just wondering what the current average amount of time is between graduation and follow on training, i.e. SERE/Water Survival/MWS training/etc...? Any help would be appreciated.

Getting PCS'd to Langley. Single JO with no responsibilities. Would like to keep the commute to under 45 minutes knowing that traffic can snarl. Open to buying a house/condo/townhouse or renting. Seems like buying something worth while might be out of my price range after a little bit or searching. Any insight/tips for me? Has anyone lived west of Norfolk/portsmouth and commuted across the bridge? Seems like a gamble.

A while back, I seem to recall reading a "noise complaint" letter from a guy who lived under a low-level route. The basic premise was "you guys aren't training right--you need to be lower and faster!" Anyone know the letter I'm talking about? If so, can you post it or direct me to it? Apparently my search skills are not as good as I thought. Thanks.

I was a passenger on a cross country flight the other night, and happened to look out the window at just the right time to see the ISS whizzing by. It got me wondering whether pilots who fly often, especially just before sunrise or after sunset, see a lot of satellites.

I've been lurking here for years, so feel free to roast me based on my post count for this question, won't hurt my feelings. Does anyone know why the F-16 Blk 30 went with the SADL radio vs a Link-16 terminal? I assume it was partially because of the cost difference and partially because of the Air-Ground mission set, similar to the A-10s reasoning. Does anyone have any facts about how this acquisition took place or the reasons for the choice made? TG btw, a search for SADL didn't turn up too many viable posts on this forum..I checked.

I am a 2014 VSP recipient and recently started flying for a Major Airline. I could not be more happy with civilian life and love the airlines, but as a former T-6 FAIP I recall a couple guys in my squadron that were AD recalls who received a substantial bonus to return to AD to fly the T-6. Considering instructing in the T-6 was by far the most rewarding and fun experience for me in the AF, my wife is from a UPT town, and the first year or two at the Airlines come with a bitch of a commute and schedule I could think of worse things than to take a nice chunk of change to go fly T-6's again for a couple years in my wife's hometown while my seniority number continues to tick…

So I was just asked if I want to go work for the wing IG as either chief of exercises or inspections (they are both opening up). Can anyone provide insight into which one would be more interesting? It would be my first job outside of the flying sq and OSS. What are the positives and negatives of this? My other option is to work as an ADO. Edited-changed plans to exercises Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. I've done a bunch of searching, and haven't found to much out there. I realize it is hard to tell because not many people have flown both air frames, but is there any opinion as to what the lifestyle is like? Do both tend to be very relaxed? Also with tankers vs. cargo/transport what is the difference in where they fly? Which one will travel to more countries? Lastly, what do the deployment cycles look like for each. I've heard 6 months on 6 off for the C-5B/M but that seems like a lot for a reserve unit. Are these typical cycles in addition to monthly flights?
