As the title says. As a MXS grunt having never been to SERE what is generally in the bag in the AOR? Specifically is there a sleeping bag out there that has a consensus? Cheers, DD

I have seen a few people post graduate thesis related questionnaires on here lately and thought I might broaden my population a bit as well. Essentially, I am trying to find any correlations between types of electronic planning systems used, aircrew experience level, and time lost during flight planning. It is a quick 10 question survey (linked below) and would definitely appreciate your time and input. My apolgoies if some of the content does not apply to your respective communities. Thanks in advance! https://surveymonkey.com/s/NVQNMWN

Obviously there are a lot of (more) disgruntled rated dudes after the VSP debacle who are still meeting the RIF. Hypothetically speaking, if you were given the option of a "do not retain" on your RRF would you do it? Thoughts on chances of being RIF'd after VSP denial? Potential repercussions of a "do not retain" if retained?

For all of the airdroppers out there, here's a USA Today article about precision airdrops, https://www.usatoday....rops/52902982/1. I was in the Tactics shop in Bagram back in 2006 when this was introduced into Afghanistan. Good to see it is still successful and getting the guys the stuff they need to kick ass and survive!

In light of the other discussion, this dude warrants his own thread. And possibly a statue cast in bronze. A warrior in every sense of the word. https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2012/04/air-force-blinded-airman-awarded-bronze-star-040612w/

https://www.bbc.co.uk...slands-18692532 Two people have been picked up by helicopter after two RAF Tornado jets crashed in the Moray Firth. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the Tornado GR4s, which have a pilot and navigator, were from RAF Lossiemouth, on the Moray coast. The RNLI said Wick, Invergordon and Buckie lifeboats were searching for two missing crew south of Wick. The MoD said one of the aircraft had been seen in the water and the other was classed as "missing". Aberdeen Coastguard was alerted to the incident at about 13:50. An RAF helicopter picked up two people and flew them to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. A search is taking place in the Mora…

Does anyone have any advice for a PCS to Europe as far as taking or not taking cars? I heard a rumor that some countries you can take full size vehicles, like trucks and such, and get a premium for them in sale/trade over there. Also does anyone know about how much it cost to take more than the one "allowed" vehicle? I would like to have two vehicles to make it a bit easier for my wife and I to get around when and where we need to. Thanks!

Is it possible to go from the ANG as an Air Battle Manager to Active Duty Air Force? I know AD Air Force has something called the prior service program, but does it work the same for Officers also? Any recruiters or with knowledge thereof can shed light on this?

Nickel in the Grass for a 7+ year Vietnam POW. RIP Brother. From vansairforce.net on 9 Jan 2014, Link: https://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=108462 One of the pioneers of RV [Van’s Aircraft, homebuilt experimental aircraft] formation standards and a founding member of the Blackjack Squadron, Wesley Schierman passed away this weekend. Wes, Marty, and Dick began flying their RV4s in close formation together in the late 80’s and expanded their group by developing a structured training program in the early 90’s that continues to this day. Over the years, nearly 50 fortunate aviators have been ‘patched’ to fly as Blackjacks. There are extraordi…

Long time reader, first time poster. I'm a non-flyer and will be facing the force shaping board in July. Does anyone with experience with these types of things (firing mass amounts of young captains/Lts....smh) have any idea what factors the board will weigh most heavily when they decide whom to cut? I've done all the qeep (masters/SOS correspondence) and stratted well at the squadron, but there are only three of us in the group and the other two strat higher than me (lots of group/wing-level awards). Curious if I should see the writing on the wall and turn down this short tour assignment that just dropped in my inbox....

Saw the Air Force's 30-year strategy just came out, figured might be worth worth discussing. Wonder what predictions written in 1984 said about today...I'd venture to bet they weren't all that accurate. Maybe some of you old heads can chime in on that one. Link for the file, also see attached to download. AF 30 Year Strategy.pdf

NATO Is Acting Like It’s 1985 ‘Maskirovka’ Is Russian Secret War Good articles on next-gen warfare as practiced by the Russians. Question comes to mind: Can we do the same to them in areas that they tenuously control or destabilize their allies the same way? If so legally, then morally? Thoughts?
