So here is the deal. I know most people are highly against ERAU when it comes to their aero sci degree and all of the airline hopefulls, but what would you tell someone who is considering riddle for the purposes of trying to be in one of the best ROTC detachments in hopes of a UPT slot, and wants to be around aviation 24/7? Would you still advise against it. From searching it seems that the majority feel that it is a good school if you arn't in the riddle bubble of garunteed airline pilot after grad. Also, some argue that it is the best ROTC det. due to the number of UPT slots (due to the amount of people seeking them there), but others say the size is what makes it hard…

https://medium.com/war-is-boring/the-air-force-wants-to-junk-half-of-its-best-jamming-planes-3f16d164cac1 Thoughts? I personally think it's a big mistake. Does anybody else in the CAF care? Does the Air Force really understand what EW can bring to the fight?

I recently filled out the TSP form and decided to put all 10% of my pay in the C-fund. My reasoning for doing this is that I was shown how the different funds did in the past 10 years. The C-fund led at just about 12%. Is this a good idea to put all my eggs in one basket so to speak, or should I diversify my pay into all the funds? (I am a brand new 2nd Lt, planning to be in for 12 years.) Thanks

How much time does it generally take to become Aircraft Commander? Reason I ask is because I was looking through Southwest Airlines website and they will only take AC time as PIC and that got me thinking.
-
It seems that AC upgrade takes different amounts of time depending on the airframe you are in. Can heavy drivers give input on how long (on average) it took for guys in their specific aircraft to upgrade to Aircraft Commander?

Hmmm... an intersting concept - especially since the USAF was the Army Air Corps through WWII. I'm not sure I fully agree with the notion of the USAF being created only to prosecute a strategic war... But there are certainly redundancies between the services. At any rate, its an interesting concept and given our current fiscal realities, one thast may not go away quickly. https://www.boston.com/opinion/2014/01/06/time-abolish-the-air-force/B1BQF31AkNjl0GcQS8msHO/story.html

Just got a new update to TIMS a few weeks ago and now students can't view opted or un-submitted gradesheets. This is definately a change, and hurts mission planning a little bit. Has anyone experienced this, or found a good workaround? For example, when we start a new block, we can't see what we're opted for. Thanks Lt Winslow @ CAFB

What is the difference of the amber tinted one than the dark ones? Does the usage depend on the type of mission? Or are they pretty much same as what we use as "driving glasses" for higher contrast? https://www.af.mil/media/photodb/photos/990...F-2171A-010.jpg

I'm having a problem with TMO and need regs/ammo to fight this. Story: PCSd from Florida to Wyoming with TDY enroute at Little Rock. Partial DITY/PPM the entire trip. I got empty and full weight tickets for both legs of the move. I filed my DITY paperwork and have received two payments. Here's the problem: They only paid me for 600 pounds Florida to LR and LR to WY. They are refusing to pay me for the remainder of my weight from FL to WY. As I understand it, I should have received payment for 600 pounds FL-LR-WY and the remainder of the weight from FL-WY. TMO here says they already "used" my 4 weight tickets on the 2x 600 pound moves and cannot reuse those…

The movers showed up without wardrobe boxes that I requested weeks, if not a month in advance of my move date. JPPSO was like they didn't bring wardrobe boxes, that's a pretty standard thing! After calling JPPSO, they made them deliver wardrobe boxes to my house. The young lady overseeing the movers tried to tell me that they were going to stand up my Tempurpedic Breeze mattress in the crate. I let everyone know well in advance that I have a HIGH VALUE Tempurpedic Breeze mattress. It must ALWAYS be shipped flat (laying down). In fact, I've never had to explain this to any moving company contracted by the military. After I tell them I have a Tempurpedic Breeze, they …

Conservative Group Urges Senators to Vote ‘No’ on Gen. CQ Brown for Joint Chiefs Chairman https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2023/07/25/conservative-group-urges-senators-to-vote-no-on-gen-cq-brown-for-joint-chiefs-chairman/ From my knowledge of him prior to the last year or so, he (Brown) seemed fairly benign and reasonable but I despise anything woke so I have doubts now What does this forum think?
