Looking at the ****pit photo of the T-38C. Underneath center MFD and beyond the stick is something that says PUSH. Anyone know a link to point me to the layout of this ****pit? Or if you know off hand what that is for. I have the photo as my desktop background and it just stares back at me PUSH! Pretty annoying now not knowing what it does. Data cartridge? DVD Player? Cup holder? HA. Thanks

Does anyone know of any places online where you can get gouge for the T-38c? There are places like T1Driver and T6Driver, but I can't really find anything like that for the 38. It's not critical, but I was just wondering... thx

Just saw this on CNN: A military training jet crashed in a north Georgia forest on Monday, killing at least one person aboard and setting several acres of woodland ablaze, local and federal authorities said. FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the crash of the twin-engine T-39 trainer caused no injuries on the ground, and it wasn't clear how many people were aboard. It went down just north of Morganton, Georgia, about 80 miles north of Atlanta, Fanning County Sheriff's Maj. Keith Bosen said. The mountainous area is ringed by national forest land, and the the crash caused a fire that was estimated at as much as 10 acres, Bosen said. The T-39, a military version o…

I had a couple of questions for guys/gals at Corpus or who have been through their before. 1. How many T-44's and how many TC-12's are in the two units there? 2. Does the TC-12 have any type of glass cockpit? 3. How many T-44C's does VT-31 have at this point?

I was just checking out the T-6 cockpit diagram on the gouge website. I just can't figure out a couple of things about it. First, is the speed brake lever just below the PCL lever? 2nd, what is the purpose of the lever on the rear right side just behind the avionics and light circuit breakers? And third, what is the purpose of the dispaly containing three pictires of the airplane located on the light switch panel? Trim? I know that they are going to tell me all of this at UPT but I have a picture of the cockpit here at my desk that I stare at all day and I just can't figure out what these things do. [ 10. I'm assuming that there are places around Laughlin to pick up cockpit trainers, but does anyone know for sure? I tried getting onto a website recommended by a guy that just finished pilot training but the site was down. Hell, if anyone has a used one, throw it on eBay and make back some cash!

All, I have a somewhat unique question for the board. One of my guys is transitioning from the HH-60 to a T-6 instructor gig. The problem begins with the our schoolhouse. We graduate the school house as an 11-H3E, which is an aircraft commander. When we get to our units, the standard has been an administrative downgrade to a mission co-pilot/first pilot. The problem is that there is really no definition of a first pilot in our 11-2HH60 v1/2/3. The way it is used is that a guy fresh from the school house can act as aircraft commander for non-combat sorties, i.e. he can take it cross-country. This is the first of many problems. The second problem is in a tabl…

For anyone that knows the T-6 pubs, I am tring to find anything in writing concerning the requirements for a pilot to re-inspect the aircraft after getting strapped in and after a crew chief has made an "adjustment" to the jet. For example, you get strapped in and you get an OBOGS fail annunciator so the crew chief opens the access door to the OBOGS system, corrects what he thinks is the problem and closes the door and the annunciator goes away. Are we obligated to get out and basically do another walk around?

So the academy has 3-screen static T-6 sims. Having read the 11-248, I've been trying the contact stuff (oval pattern, slow flight, stall, little bit of aerobatics, etc) in the sim. Any recommendations on what to practice in the sims since it is so limited (ie: you have to estimate where the perch is since you can't see the runway at a 45)? Any bad habits to watch out for or good ones to develop? Thanks!

  22. https://m.aviationweek.com/defense/usaf-grounds-t-6-trainers-after-hypoxia-events The U.S. Air Force has grounded the Beechcraft T-6 Texan II training aircraft at Vance AFB, Oklahoma, after five pilots reported physiological episodes with hypoxia-like symptoms while flying. The Air Force’s 71st Flying Training Wing enacted an “operational pause” of T-6 flying operations on Nov. 15 after four T-6 instructor pilots and one student pilot assigned to Vance reported physiological incidents since Nov. 1, spokeswoman Terri Schaefer told Aviation Week Nov. 29. In each case, the aircraft’s backup oxygen system operated as designed and the pilots followed the correc…

Apologies in advance for the anal question. Hit the back button on your browser now if you have a life. When the T-Birds pilots do their robotic dancing to the jet, up the ladder and then into the jet, they momentarily stand on the seat. My question is: on the two occasions I have flown in the back of the F-16, I've been told never to stand on the seat. Looking around the ramp it's clear it's not just because I am a fat bastard that I've been told that, because everyone else has to do the contortionist’s entry and exit from the Viper 'pit, too. So, how come the T-Birds can do it? Incidentally, the only reason I was ever given was that the F-16's ACES II has a fibreg…

So the guidance on the AFPC website makes it sound like they want a T-ODP for all officers. I've only been at my duty station for about three or four months so I've got a couple years until a PCS even becomes a question. Anybody know if I should fill out the T-ODP (which would basically express my desire to stay right where I am) or just wait until I start coming up on 24 months on station?
