  2. I know I’m preaching to the choir here but even for a decent pilot it takes numerous hacks at landings and A/R in a heavy aircraft before they’re even remotely close to safe. And this talking about a winged pilot who has flown UPT fingertip/CT/fluid maneuvering and then done all that stuff again in the FTU as well. The scope of the upgrade required here is to bring the WSOs up to speed is basically just.. pilot training. This is an idiotic and borderline suicidal idea enshrined by a 4-star who was on their way out the door and in search of a silver bullet to fix their self-inflicted manning problems. Probably the suckiest part is that when it’s inevitably walked back the WSO union is going to feel even more betrayed and sidelined than they already do now. And then we’ll be back to square one where there’s still no plan of what to do with them.

  4. I think Trump confused sedition and treason (and the max punishment for each). Regardless, another example of not thinking it through before opening one’s mouth.
  5. Based on the current and future plans for aviation pipelines across all the services, I honestly believe that the Bobs have made a conscious decision to accept higher mishaps rates and lower quality of product, at least in the near to mid term in order to up production numbers. They’re just not outright saying that. As an FTU CI, it’s frustrating. The FTU syllabus for the airframes I teach are based on the legacy UPT/UCT product. A lot of the T-6 direct to the FTU students are struggling. It’s not their fault; most of them are hungry, have a good attitude, and study. They’re just behind in multiple areas because they haven’t gotten enough reps before they show up here.
  6. Sure. We see/hear it plenty. They learned it from Trump himself. I think he's calling for executions of those Dems. See, despicable posturing ... or something. * * I do not condone either actions, just playing ref and throwing a flag on both plays.
  7. I was hoping to read info on what was happening to the #2, but I think Hoover's opinion is sufficient on fuel lines severing when the #1 literally tore itself off. Those pics in the report are shocking.
  8. Well for those into nerd stats, the UFT scores are updated for FY26. Appears they combined UPT with UHT selects as there are 80 for pilot. Scores look to track with historical averages with slightly higher scores with fewer selects than last year.
  9. I feel your pain. This wait is almost worse than waiting for results. I just got back from a deployment and my unit filled my position while I was gone, because I was supposed to move to the Wing when I got back. Since I’m PCSing in the not so distant future I’m not going to the Wing anymore, but my Sqd also doesn’t know what to do with me since they have no clue how long I’ll be around. I feel like I went from 120 MPH on my deployment to a screeching halt at home and it’s been rough. I’m just trying to stay positive, find things to help out with at work, and bide my time until I get more guidance on timelines.

  11. Well honestly you can’t plan anything right now until you get more information. I know how you feel though. Honestly, all you can do is keep showing up to work and cherishing the time you do have left. I’m a man of faith and I put things in Gods hands. Things will happen in due time. For now just enjoy life
  12. I’m very grateful to have this opportunity. I’ve waited years for it, but time seems to be moving both fast and slow at the same time—if that makes sense to anyone. I’m anxiously waiting for my assignment RIP, MFS, and a farewell to my current position. November is flying by, but it feels like the notification of what’s coming is taking forever (even though it’s not; I think it’s just the excitement of wanting to start). We learned early on which paths we’re going down, so we may wait longer for the next steps, but I just want to know how I can actively use my time based on my projected departure date. It’s not the waiting—it’s the not knowing how to properly plan. Just venting to you all, because I’m sure some of you may feel the same way
  13. Horrific, nothing they could do.
  14. Does declining the UCT slot impact your eligibility? Would suck if they consider it a denial that impacted future eligibility.
  15. Kind of like when the space/missileers and comm/cyber guys started wearing a new badge that more closely resembled wings.
  16. It’s funny how many portions of the AF have obviously tried to emulate the Weapons School patch. I’m all for finding ways to be the best at whatever you do, but come on guys, trying to copy the WIC’s patch is lazy and the opposite of innovative (assuming that’s a tenet of any of these courses).
  17. Yup, I was one of the alternates this year. UFT team said highly unlikely any UPT/UHT slots will come available. Wonder if there's any way UFT applicants can take OTS/ROTC/USAFA UPT slots that come available...
  18. Actually, I've dealt with numerous graduates from the AQIT course, and they know their shit. That said, I'd avoid acquisitions like a burrito from Taco Bell! And at least they don't have the word 'weapons' in their name!
  19. Completely unsalvageable. Now the remaining question is if inspections were complied with correctly, and if so, then timelines need to be adjusted. If not, well then some heads should roll substantially.
  20. literally during rotation...terrible.😞
  21. NTSB Preliminary Report is out.NTSB Prelim report
  22. Was just offered a UCT slot. Declined it.
  23. Was it with his special issue sidearm? How juicy if yes and if it was impounded for weapons safety's inquiry!
  24. I don't think anyone will be surprised by this... Recent Data Shows Significant Spike In US Military Aircraft Accidents The number of major accidents involving military aircraft spiked in 2024, internal Pentagon figures show, and a series of high-profile aviation mishaps with deaths and the loss of aircraft in 2025 suggest the disturbing trend may be continuing. Across the military, the rate of severe accidents per 100,000 flight hours rose 55% in the 2024 budget year compared with four years earlier. The Marine Corps saw the highest increase, nearly tripling its rate over the same period. The statistics cover the full budget years 2020-2023 and then the first 10 months of the 2024 budget year, through July 31. In those 10 months of last year, 25 service members and Defense Department civilian employees were killed and 14 aircraft were destroyed... (Full story at title link)
  25. I have never seen such an absolutely despicable and disgraceful posturing from any government official. Mark Kelly has been a disappointment for a long time, and this has put him squarely in the category of irredeemable.
  26. I’m just hoping I see projected training on my CDB soon. I already did the MFS part so I can just PCS. I just want to get started already lol
