  2. That might be, rebidding with changed pricing and requirements to meet scrutiny, it surprised me (SNC deciding to punch out) as they were offering actual FCLP capabilities and meet the basic requirements. Seemed a strong case for that jet but apparently there’s some turd in this punch bowl that only the M-346N can stomach… I see the optics issue with the family relationship (distant) with the Yak but I think that’s manageable, it’s an Italian design.

I think the attempt to register pistol braces and its effective non-compliance is a good example of how it will go. I don't see anything getting past a presidential veto for 2 years
  5. Wonder what is spooking all the companies out of this bid? Shouldn't that be a red flag?

  7. MARSHA Blackburn, not Martha. Rubio has proven his metal and found a way to navigate the Trump bombastic comments by sticking to policy. I think he has been great as SECSTATE and it rounded out his resume. Proven Senator with superb foreign policy experience. It will come down to the grip Trump has on the GOP and the way the voters walked away from him it will be easier for the party leadership to ignore Trump and push JD aside.
  8. Boeing and Lockheed dropped out. Even newcomer Sierra Nevada dropped out. Now, the only entrant left is the M-346N, which traces it's origins to the Russian Yakovlev design bureau's Yak-130. I would be surprised to see the US Navy buy an aircraft with any kind of Russian lineage, regardless of how faint. About as likely as awarding the Air Force One contract to Airbus. I speculate we'll see this entire acquisition program overhauled so as to bring the other contenders back in. I assume by somehow making it more financially enticing to the different players, particularly Boeing and Lockheed.
  9. Hear me out: Rubio/AOC ticket, good governance and amazing memes. Seriously though, if the country wants to win, why can’t we couple a good conservative president with a moderate D?
  10. I love vance coming out today and acknowledging the iran war was a mistake and drove many voters against the GOP dude you had a responsibility to be saying this before we attacked iran. wtf. vance was against attacking iran. make your objection known by resigning.
  11. I say let Pete think thats the plan. Then pull the rug so he can be a creatine salesman. Next, Vance is a fuckin clown idiot. Rubio or a solid R gov stand the best chance. And as a good resume bullet, Rubio has navigated the Trump waters, hasn't been marginalized, fired, or joined the asylum.
  12. Rumor is Martha Blackburn, who just won as Tennessee’s governor, is going to appoint Hegseth to her Senate seat. Trump has been rumored wanting to fire him and this gives Hegseth a soft landing and allows him to avoid impeachment.

More worrisome is the new Congress not only re-invoking the tax but indexing it to inflation, which would be roughly $4,700-4,900 in 2026 dollars!! The initial $200 tax's "real value" has fallen by about 95-96% since 1934 due to inflation. That is why legal scholars argue the NFA has evolved from a substantial tax-and-registration scheme into primarily a registration and regulatory system!
  14. Concur, if the Republicans want a chance, they need to push Rubio to the front of the line. Vance won't win it in 2028! They have two years to figure that out, will they learn from their mistakes?
  15. So much written in blood. Not saying it happened here but telling a High Net Worth individual or another pilot no this is or would be a bad idea is a little easier if you can point to a tragedy like this. It's no longer a hypothetical.
  16. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Trump has nothing left to lose and will likely unleash hell on Iran. If he closes it (a BIG if), and gas prices drop....GDP is already STRONG at 3.4%. If gas prices drop and inflation cools the last two years of his tenure could be VERY good for our economy. The market is VERY happy today as they see things will bog down for the next two years. I was up $104K a little while ago. Oddly, oil is down below $90 ($88). I saw some raw data about all the new pipelines that have opened around the straight and how the flow is WAY up. Look for the GOP positioning to start soon....Desantis already had a news conference this morning distancing himself from the loss and touting the big wins in Florida that "held the line." Trump loves Vance, I am not a fan. I have been very impressed by Rubio and would prefer he jump to the front of the line. He is seen as more moderate and would capture a lot of the Hispanic/Latino vote.

Soooo….buy now before prices go up and congress enacts a firearms registry?
  19. Stolen from social media... The NTSB held its second and final on scene media briefing regarding N722BD this afternoon. The agency says it recovered the aircraft’s left elevator in three pieces between 1.3 and 3.8 miles from the crash site. Most likely, it broke off at FL150-250 due to stress from the overspeed dive. ie, damaged during the dive, not damage that caused the dive. The following is from a pilot who flew the Lear 60 for over 15 years. "“We always fly in ridiculous cold temperatures.” “Usually you get the bad ice when the temperatures are like 0 to negative 20. Believe it or not, there's a point where it gets too cold for ice. At negative 40, you pretty much can't get ice. Besides that, the airplane is equipped with hot wings and hot tail.” “I flew the Lear 60 for like 15 years. It's a no joke airplane and probably the most dangerous airplane I've ever flown. It has a super critical wing. The airflow has to be perfect. When it gets into rough air and turbulence, it will easily stall. It has stalled on me at 41,000 feet just because we got into some turbulence. (On the way to Palm Beach as a matter of fact. ) we recovered and got her flying again around 30,000 ft. Scary But here's the problem. This airplane has a terrible coffin corner. (At high altitudes) what that means is, you fly in a really narrow window where if you lose 20 knots, it stalls. And if you gain 20 knots, it goes into overspeed. The air goes supersonic over the wing and it goes into a high speed stall, or worse, a Mach tuck. So if you stall, the normal recovery is to push the yoke forward to lower the nose and gain air speed again. At low altitude, you can push really hard and recover quickly. But in the 60... if you push hard, it will gain air speed and go into a high speed stall, it doesn't take much. It's very sensitive. The 60 has super short wings that don't make much lift. So then you high speed stall, and the computer is yelling at you... OVERSPEED! So then you pull back and enter a low speed stall. And you go back and forth trying to keep it in the air speed window. This whole thing is pretty scary. And you should recover basically by using your finger tips using super small corrections. You can't over do it. If you try to muscle the recovery, she gets mad and will become unrecoverable. If she enters a mach tuck. You're done.” “I taught the Lear 60 to other pilots and mentored them. I told them... this airplane has a soul and it's trying to kill you. Do not ever try to top the weather. Don't go over a thunderstorm. Go around it. If it means a half hour longer, then do it. Going over the thunderstorm will go into turbulence that you might not recover from. These pilots went right over a thunderstorm. I think it stalled which caused them to drop down into the thunderstorm and ended up in mach tuck. They picked up so much speed that it ripped off the horizontal stabilizer. At that point... chuck Yeager can't fix it. These same pilots did something similar a couple months ago. ATC got mad at them. They poked the bear one too many times. This is not a beginner airplane."
  20. And that’s how they’ll piss away ‘28. The Dems have a LOWER approval rating than the GOP. If the GOP can remake itself post-Trump…
  21. Yeah, that definitely sounds like wanting to work right away at getting cheaper gas lol
  22. Standby for left side gloating, a bunch of useless legal actions against Trump that will do absolutely nothing, and a worthless federal government with more attempts at DEI type BS, delayed military promotion boards, and absolutely no useful legislation passed for the next 2 years. So....ops normal. What's sincerely concerning is the El-Sayed win. THAT is the beginnings of how the USA becomes not the USA anymore. It was close. I'd love to see an audit of that vote to see exactly how it went down. Something like 11 of 83 counties in Michigan made that happen. Current stats say 2.5 mil to 2.1 mil is how he won...when there are over 8 million registered voters in Michigan. People need to get out and vote. The indifference of good people is how we lose America to Islam.
  23. I say this as the son of legal immigrants before anyone calls me a bigot: if you’ve visited Texas lately and seen the wave of immigrants, specifically from South Asian origin, and the influx of Muslims to that state, Talafreako winning makes more sense. What makes less sense to me is I’m pretty sure the Islamic religion frowns upon looking for group sex online and the belief that kids can change gender but stranger things have happened. Californians have this nasty habit of moving from their shithole state and voting the same policies that turned California into said shithole state. Hope you all enjoyed hearing the call to prayer downrange five times a day because that’s coming to a city near you.
  24. Govern from the center, govern well, don’t go on a revenge tour. 47 couldn’t handle that, hence the blue wave. The GOP will come back in ‘28 if the Dems take this as a mandate to do a bunch of weird stuff. This was a referendum on Trump, NOT a blue mandate. Closed primaries ensure we get the wildest candidates from both sides.
  25. This. There are so many midterms that seem absolutely seismic, like the 2014 repudiation of Obama, but the triumphant rush fades quickly and the back-and-forth continues. I am pretty stunned candidates like Talarico and El Sayed won so handily, but I guess that's life. The cost of living is terrible, the job market is terrible, and nobody seems to have any answers.
  26. Don't worry, the Dems will royally fuck up the next two years, leading to another flip.
