I wouldn't use the term "victims," I am confidence they were part of the huge Cuban community residing in the US waiting for a chance to overthrow Fidel (now Raul) when the opportunity arises. The group was allegedly armed with assault rifles, handguns, Molotov cocktails, bulletproof vests, telescopic sights and camouflage gear. I also don't think the timing was coincidental either in terms of the Brothers to the Rescue event 30 years ago or the current situation in Cuba. Cuba’s territorial sea extends 12 nautical miles from its coastline. Entering this zone without authorization is illegal, and boats can face penalties including fines, imprisonment or vessel seizure. You can add direct action to that list! They knew where they were and what they were trying to do...that's FAFO territory in red!
  8. Might be a case of FAFO and the anniversary to the Brothers to the Rescue shoot down is interesting to say the least, as it is only the Cubans word at this point that the FL boat shot first I’ll hold my cards but I gotta know if you have a boat that can go that distance on open water and presumably were planning on returning home, did you not know you were in Cuban waters? I’m not blaming the victim here but you gotta be careful and know your boundaries, particularly now when that regime is about ready to go under, wounded animal theory.
  9. Romantic tryst led to Mexican cartel leader's capture, death | Reuters Who are we kidding? I think we've all paid a price in our lives at some point because we thought with a certain body part to the exclusion of all else. Sometimes the price can be pretty steep.

The irony is the incident also comes almost 30 years to the day since Cuban defense forces shot down two small civilian planes belonging to Brothers to the Rescue, a US-based group that searched for rafts carrying migrants from Cuba to the US. Four people aboard were killed in the 1996 incident, triggering outrage in the US. Coincidence? Maybe not...

Sounds like a FAFO event to me! According to the Cuban Interior Ministry statement, the speedboat passengers began shooting at the Cuban Coast Guard vessel when it approached them, wounding its commander. The fatalities occurred when the Cuban ship returned fire. The Interior Ministry provided the Florida registration number of the speedboat, and said it was detected about one nautical mile northeast of the El Pino channel, near the island of Cayo Falcones. “As a consequence of the confrontation, as of the time of this report, four aggressors on the foreign vessel were killed and six injured,” the ministry said, claiming that the injured persons were evacuated to receive medical care. “In the face of current challenges, Cuba reaffirms its determination to protect its territorial waters, based on the principle that national defense is a fundamental pillar of the Cuban State in safeguarding its sovereignty and ensuring stability in the region,” the ministry added, alluding to current tensions between the United States and Cuba. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c24drvj8yl2o
  12. Denaturalize and deport her sorry butt
  13. Got it. I definitely did not hit a nerve. Thanks for clearing that up 😂🤣
  14. Don't flatter yourself. You are of no account and your uninformed opinion doesn't matter. This discussion is about preserving the honor surrounding the actions of heroes, as is my response. I will call out anyone who so blatantly critics any MoH recipient, especially those who weren't there. Small individuals who choose to criticize the man in the arena and his rewards all deserve the same treatment: exposure of their cowardice and dismissal. I've worked too closely with real heroes to see their heroism belittled by insignificant men.
  15. Sounds like I hit a nerve. Noted.

  17. Honey, put your dick away. If you're too emotionally invested in this to read simple commentary, then you're probably not worth talking to at all. But for the fun of it: the simple reality is that there are a metric fuck ton of incredible people who have done incredible things after being shot, and all but a very small few of them went home or into the ground without a medal of Honor. Now maybe you've never read any medal of Honor citations, but I have. The bar isn't just high, it's in fucking low earth orbit. Maybe this guy deserves it. But for better or worse we have a president who believes any and every institution, convention, tradition, and norm should be upended for his own vanity and glamor. And if that means he can get a medal of Honor attached to his Venezuela mission, he's going to do it by any means necessary. That attaches a very real and very unfortunate skepticism to this particular citation. You can sit at home with your thumb up your ass and not think about it, but I choose to. And since you're on a message board where a bunch of people talk about shit like this, I will take your "aggressive STFU" and file it with some of the other asinine things you said here over the years. XOXO
  18. Sorry, just seeing this. I was told by several units that the only way they would entertain a possible interview is if I enlisted. Update: Interviewed with my home unit in December, and they said no. On to the next ones. I am working extra days before and after every drill to try and improve my chances for next time.
  19. Gen Douglas MacArthur got a MOH just by escaping Corregidor so not having himself be taken prisoner like his whole command by the Japanese. I'm sure FDR did it just to get some good out of a disaster.

  26. Amoedi has been sounding the alarm on AI for sometime. In January he published The Adolescence of Technology in which he sounds the alarm and makes some very good points. He is worth $7B and I think he would have no qualms giving the money back, the problem is Hegseth is threatening to put Anthropic on the "supply chain risk" list which means any company doing business with Anthropic in any way, shape or form, can't do business with the government. It is one thing to say we are going to cancel your contract, quite another to try to destroy a company because they don't agree with you. Like I said, there is a moral argument here and both sides have a point until one side decides to completely destroy a business if they don't get there way.
