  3. Of the three posted here apparently only one was real. The two I know were offered continuation to 24 when the paperwork SNAFU was fixed.

  4. When the board results are released, it starts the DOPMA clock for those twice passed over. Could be an attempt to keep the iron majors around just a little bit longer, especially given this anecdotal evidence that 11x continuation was not universal this past round. Not saying I couldn't come up with a better plan, because I could, even blackout drunk. (Come to think of it, some of my best ideas may have come that way.) Just saying I may see their logic.

  5. AFPC is doing it because they don't want members being lt col selects for more than a year for the final line numbers. And if you aren't going to pin on line number 1 until October/nov/dec of 2018, then why have board results come out in may? As it stands now, the current batch of lt col selects have to wait until 1 Jan to start pinning on (unless they exhaust the remaining 270 from CY16 board quicker than 70 per month

  6. Nothing really changes. You'd have still pinned on same time frame assuming the pin on increments were the same in both cases

  7. each Senior Rater has his own style for how they like their PRFs, based on their board knowledge, etc. Top Line: half Senior Rater comments, the other half highlighting you entire career, such as breadth of what you've done, # of #1 strats (if a lot and if not all used in the PRF), air medals, # deployments, flying hours, etc... just depends for each individual. do not list duty titles as those can be seen in the surf and your OPRs and is a waste of space. there is also room on top line for certain awards (if they don't fit on line 2). Line 2: reserved for awards, start out with DGs, school awards, then from left to right with importance... annual better than quarterly, wing better than group, etc. denominators can be used too. i.e. Wg CGOY (#1/102); etc. if not everything will fit, then sometimes its appropriate to list them in lines 3 through 8... Line 3 - 8: annual strats should be to the left... with most important on the left. Wg strats are usually better than Gps, better than Sq, etc. just depends on the actual strat, who said it and what category it is. i.e. #4/20 Capts (Wg/CC) is probably better than #2/36 CGOs (Sq/CC).... but its a preference thing... probably shouldn't go more than 3 strats deep per line. oldest strats should be line 3, most recent strats towards line 8. the right side of lines are used for OPR bullet material. use Led XXmbrs, directed $XXB program, Commanded X member operation, etc. Line 9: Senior Rater comments... the 2 best things to have on here are My X/XX Eligibles at the beginning... your CC can sneak in a current strat (if not on your last OPR) such as, currently my #4/54 Capts... the end should also include school push, job push, and most importantly --Definitely Promote!. even if you don't have DP checked below it.

  8. See your Grp exec--every Senior Rater has different idiosyncrasies and techniques. Knowing these ahead of time would help cut down the edit time for everyone up the chain. It would be in your leadership's best interests to advertise such techniques for this very reason. Good luck

  9. I remember this argument. That's right, it was when these exact same year groups were Capt's coming up on Major. Long wait/delay/short wait/multiple boards in a year. We're in phase II of the Lt Col round.

  10. Would be nice if they'd just say what the reason was. It's been too long that they simply have not had to. People make organizations. Organizations make messes. People alone get into habits that are hard to get out of...messes do much worse for far longer. They don't care, dude. Not even a little. I wish it was different. It's not going to cost you money for the rest of your life, man. Because...you're going to make different decisions than you might have otherwise made. You'll be just fine. 11. Just seems like extending your jaw for a left hook of a contract award protest if Textron is awarded a contract. It's ready made for a company to protest and launch a media campaign against. With our infotainment oriented journalism these days how long before Textron is under the microscope / segment on name your cable commentary show with "Grinds my Gears" diatribe? An opportunistic Congressman who just happens to be from FL could royally f up a legitimate but outwardly suspicious acquisition decision and we end up with no toys and rotten egg (again) on our face.

  13. If y'all think that putting a former SECAF on your board hurts your chances when trying to sell an aircraft to the USAF, I'm not so sure you understand how this game is played. Regardless of that former official's reputation one way or other amongst the proletariat...

  16. Just to correct the record here, there is one unit in the Air Force currently flying the MC-12 (185th SOS, Oklahoma Air National Guard), and they were not a former A-10 unit.

  19. He is not going to listen or be educated, and he doesn't see the difference. You're wasting your time bro. He is one of those people convinced he understands a perspective you don't, and can't comprehend a world outside his assumptions.

  20. So you're willing to let the mission fail to "protect your people"? This is why non-flyers almost never get command of a wing. Because the flyers know it isn't acceptable to tell POTUS "Sorry sir, we won't be launching those strikes today...Capt Snuffy has a class after work, and Maj Donut has to pick up his kid from the CDC by 5pm".

  21. Since you seem fairly hung up on education, let me educate you: pilots who decided to get their masters (a hard requirement for Major over most of my last 11 years) did so at night after their 12-14 hr work day that didn't include a single minute for a lunch break and most likely zero gym time. They also took their weekend time to complete, around likely going to work on the weekend for at least a few hours. See the difference? I'm all for an MSG airman working on furthering their education, but their primary job comes first and it is not acceptable to leave piles of work on the desk and bolt at the 8 hr point, leaving supported people hanging, often in shitty positions. Support function failure, even delayed orders and fucked up travel vouchers, may not lose a war, but they directly, negatively effect combat capability.

  22. Jeebus Christ what a douchey post, hatedont. Seriously, are you trying to troll? While you clear your airmen off at 1630 so they can line up at the CDC and take their night classes, some 20 year old crew chief is on his 12th hour of work...for the 6th consecutive day...before he takes one day off and repeats that week again, and again, and again. That's why the MXG has a special word for the off-flightline folks. And yes, someone might actually die if your troops don't do their job on time. The 50 hour wingman next to me needs his time in the books to manage his weapon system and come home alive...not just in wartime, but every damn day. Time is a finite resource, and our pilots don't have time to do your job because you won't do it yourself. An hour wasted for TMO bullshit is an hour that LT might have needed in the sim/vault/jet/etc. FVCKUPS LIKE YOU DESCRIBE (AND CONDONE, YGBSM) ARE WHY WE ARE HEMMORHAGING COMBAT CAPABILITY. 25. That's good to hear. The AF may want to come clean with a non-Sean Spicer press release soon though . . . the rumor mill may already be accelerating the run to the exits on this one.

  26. This is the equivalency of you living in a great middle class neighborhood. However, I live in a drug infested trailer park. Then you trying to tell me you totally understand what I go through. No you don't understand. You cannot relate to me at all. You will be a more effective leader with the enlisted if you can actually relate to them in general. Leading isn't about barking orders. You need compassion and have to be able to understand the enlisted you are trying to lead. Comm doesn't need to come over to ops. Why don't you go over to the comm building and establish a relationship with their airmen, NCOs, or SNCOs. Try talking to them like human beings and it might get you somewhere. The ops vs support mentality is growing tired and old. Are CCs actually talking to each other to resolve these issues? It starts at the top and some issues might get fixed if people tried it. When my Lt was trying to get CFPS and other software installed, it sounded like he was being a dick to comm. I should have asked him did he try hooking comm up by using backdoor AF policy of handing out booze.

  27. Its not that black and white. There are two hour waits at the pharmacy because a civilian walked off the job. Waits at the clinic on getting referrals off base due to manning. Just like the pilot retention issue, lots of AFSCs at bases are not adequately manned. Sequestration wasn't that long ago in my mind and we are still feeling it. If we don't have the manning for something, I'm not going to kill my airmen by making them work until 8 pm. If I was a support CC, I would be that guy to take care of my airmen. Is someone going to die because you receive your TMO orders late? Or do I need to take away their morning PT and have half the squadron fail the test? There is a huge disconnect between how you view the AF and how I view things. Some enlisted can't work late as single parents because they have to pick there kids up at the CDC after work. I don't know if you are married and have kids, but if you don't then that's why you can't relate. I am not married and I don't have any kids just to put that into perspective for you. A lot of enlisted members attend classes directly after work. You want to tell the education office your 3 airmen failed classes because you made them work late everyday. The AF pays for those classes. On this forum we have all talked about being stretched far too thin with personnel. You are seeing what happens on the support side when they are not adequately manned. If you don't have enough pilots, you can't pull them out of your ass. You have to cut back on the mission until manning permits otherwise.

  28. Nobody has died from not receiving a set of TMO orders on time. You might want to read that post again. When you can tie a Lts death into TMO orders you are looking at the AF through a soda straw. There is a huge shortage of personnel in maintenance. Guess what? They would rather get out to go to school full time instead of staying in the AF. Not having the right amount of people to fix jets is far more dangerous than anything. You can't have an enlisted force and not educate them. The more enlisted we have in maintenance permits more of them to go to school and become better maintainers. Taking college classes is a part of being promoted outside of WAPs and CDC testing. You think maintainers are going to stay in knowing they can't even get their CCAF? I guess you don't care about them taking care of themselves or your jet with your mindset. Its far more dangerous to that Lt to have a shortage of maintainers who have a piss poor attitude and low morale because they can't go to school at ALL and are being over worked. Maintainers and pilots are leaving because QOL is so great (sarcasm). Last time I checked, we have a shortage of pilots and maintainers due to QOL. That impacts combat capability, not sending someone to college classes after work. How could you ever say allowing people to go to school impacts the mission in a negative way?

  29. If an elderly person sees you on your phone talking to someone, last time I checked its rude for them or anyone else to interrupt you unless its an emergency. Pretty sure I stated I was on the phone trying to coordinate for my own medical needs. Hell, I could have been talking to your wife and he didn't need to hear the things we talk about. Unless you are going to coordinate for the movement of my records for treatment, I don't see the point in your post at all. Flight medicine issued a referral off base. Why the hell didn't they have me sign a medical release form the same day? After trying to setup my appointment a week later, the off base doctor needed my records and the release form. You try talking to anyone after all that BS on multiple phone conversations. I'm embarrassed by our medical in comparison to my old lady's. My old lady saw me wait 2 hrs for a post operation prescription on base. I guess it never registered to the pharmacy tech I was post op after saying it 5 damn times with a huge bandage on my neck. I had to go off base to have my prescription filled after waiting 2 hours. And you want to take a shot at me trying to coordinate for my medical? If I were you, I would focus more on why your wife is always scrolling through FarmersOnly.com.
